The 14th edition of Tata Literature Live! The Mumbai LitFest is here. The Festival will start with its online edition on 25th & 26th October and will take place on ground from 27th to 29th October at the NCPA (Nariman Point), St Pauls Institute of Communication Education and Title Waves bookstore (Bandra).
Tata Literature Live! 2022: The relationship between firangis and Indians was far more complicated than we believe. Colonial writing paints a picture of a subservient country with the white man at the top of the food chain. Two books paint a very different picture of the European experience in India. In one, the story of a young orphan boy from Bombay thrust into a scientific expedition led by a team of German brothers describes a fraught relationship with his masters. In another we learn of the early firangis who were neither powerful, nor privileged.
