This game is super intricate for an Arcade Title: equipment, level-ups, a branching storyline, and a lot of dialogue and cutscenes. This kind of presentation was very rare for arcades, since it meant more time not playing (and dying). On top of that, it's the direct inspiration for the VanillaWare game Dragon's Crown, which is basically a reimagining of Chronicles of Mystara (this game + Tower of Doom).
That's why it's always been one of my favorite beat'em up arcade game, along with Shock Troopers 2
One of the funniest beat'em up games to play with a friend. Can't believe it's almost 30 years old and still so good.

This Game serves as a Blue Print for "Dragon's Dogma" like the Goblins, Saurians and the Electric Whip, so that's why I'm gonna be so Hyped for its Sequel "Dragon's Dogma 2" that's coming around March soon.
If I do recall correctly, Capcom is also part of the Dragon's Dogma production team as well.
@@paxhumana2015 I already knew that, because both "Dungeons & Dragons" and "Dragon's Dogma" are made by Capcom, so of course there'll be some Reused Assets or at least few Key Inspirations in making DD's Development.

Esse jogo é de 1995 ou 1994. Eu e um amigo terminavamos ele cada um com uma ficha eu de clerico e ele de mago. Éramos uma boa dupla. Bons tempos 😊 Eu tinha 14 anos nessa época e sempre que ia curar meu amigo fazia ele dizer Benção pai daí ei respondia Deus abençoe meu filho daí curava ele, se ele não falasse deixava ele morrer, todo mundo ria em volta 😂😂😂

It seems like that in 1st edition D&D, "elf" was a character class, as was "dwarf".

懐かしい～。高校の頃、ジャスコ（現イオン）にあったゲーセンコーナーに、台画面で4人でできる筐体が設置されていたので友達皆でめっちゃやりました。（道具屋のお姉さんをカーソルでタッチ、よくやったわｗ）これってPSとかで発売されてないんかな？やりたいわぁ。できればPS5で。

Both big Red Dragons were susceptible to critical lightning bolt spells, whether from a magic user or a lightning bolt ring. Not sure if it was a glitch, or maybe a deliberate nod to Record of Lodoss Wars when Shooting Star was driven back to his lair after a bolt of lightning struck the ballista he caught between his eyelids.

これめちゃ流行ってたし常にだれかがやってたけど、これ以降続編がでないのは思ったより売り上げがなかったのか版権が高かったのかどうだったんだろう
ベルトスクロールアクションが他のゲームに対して余りにも稼げないからねえ。ちょうど鉄拳２やバーチャ２・バーチャロン・KOFが盛り上がってたから余計にね。お店が頑張って4人台を作っても一人がワンコインで2時間もプレイしてたらそりゃあもう。私？シーフで45分くらいかな。4人でやったら1時間半はカタイね。

Got to wonder, was it really hard in the past to animate characters *without* mirroring when they turn side to side?
At least *these* days, with 3D graphics, animating a character *without* mirroring is possible, a game by Hunter X is an example of such.
That said didn’t know D & D had a side scroller, thought it was mostly RPGs. The voice of the elf was a bit off putting as well.
I hated this game. The game mechanic is all screwed up, because you don't recover HP/MP when you clear a level, and many of the bosses are nigh-impossible to beat unless you exploit a unintuition specific mechanic (which most people did not know before the internet). For example, the beholder is absurdly difficult to beat with one life unless you corner him, then juggle him. The ghost boss is basically impossible to beat with one life, unless you have lots of lightning rings (or lightning spells).
