15:27 My man is pretty obsessed with death and sacrifices because it was pretty common in ancient Mexico .For explanation of the game they where playing is “El juego de la pelota” which translates to “The ball game” basically is the game that you saw earlier except to play it you use like a leather belt and you gotta hit the ball ( it was heavy) with your hips and you needed to score on those little holes, its origin is from Mexico / Mesoamerica weird enough the prize of winning the game was sacrifice for the gods because it was honorable back on the day , in their point of view it was like “The winner is worthy to be sacrificed for the gods” and “A loser doesn’t deserve being sacrificed for the gods” . ( Sorry for bad grammar, I am Mexican)
About the gold being thrown in the lake, that is a tribute to the reason the legend of el dorado began. There was a tribe that sacrificed gold in a lake for their moon goddess, and had a similar ceremony to crown their king, where he'd become the golden man and jump in the lake
I think DreamWorks was one of the first studios to prove that animation doesn't have to be just for kids. The first movie they released was called Antz (which kinda started their rivalry with Disney), and it was one of the most vulgar things I have ever seen in my entire life.
@@RedKnightArts DreamWorks was never owned by Disney. Jeffrey Katzenberg co-created DreamWorks Animation with Steven Spielberg and some other guy after Michael Eisner fired him from Disney. And, like I said, Antz was the first movie DreamWorks released (a month before Pixar's A Bug's Life).
Ah Chel. She's slick, can play tricks, but also, she dummy--- Also, nobody gonna talk about the line Miguel says when they fear they will be sentenced to death in their arrival to the city: "Tulio, I just want you to know, I'm sorry about that girl in Barcelona."
The first ‘bad guy’ was Cortes. Voiced by Jim Cumming (voice of Winnie the Pooh and many others). Cortes was a Spanish explorer who led the conquest for gold in Mexico and modern day Central America.
The game they were playing is called pok-a-tok it’s the ancient maya ceremony that’s is a ball game and it’s used to sacrifice for the gods so that’s why he wanted to sacrifice
Ironically, word of God says that a god DID come to the city, though no one realized...Bibo the Armadillo(who halted the volcano explosion and was a master of the ball game).
Awesome reaction! This, and Prince Of Egypt are a couple of my favorite DreamWorks films, especially as far as their hand-drawn films go. Also, how could you not love Chel’s sweet, and playful sense of humor? And yes, Tulio, and Miguel have great chemistry, along with Tulio, and Chel’s romantic relationship. And wow, how can you not like Elton John, and Tim Rice’s songs for this film? I’m surprised more people don’t seem to consider the songs as memorable as the ones that they did for The Lion King. Truthfully, and this is likely an unpopular opinion, but as far as the end credits songs go, I would say that I like “Someday Out Of The Blue” better than “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” (the end credits version for The Lion King, that is). Well, great reaction once again! I’m glad that you enjoyed this film.
Ahhhh! So I am part Muisca (the culture the real legend of El Dorado was based off). Even if this movie kinda mushes all of the Central and South American cultures together (the temples are very much Aztec based but the gold work is Muisca) it makes me so happy to see people enjoying this movie cause it is so fun 💗💗💗
So fun fact, El Dorado actually means Golden Man. How our tribe used to crown our chief was he would be covered in gold dust and pushed out on a raft in the middle of a scared lake with a bunch of golden tributes (called tunjos) and sacrifice the gold to the gods. Then he would wash the gold off himself and be recognized as the new zipa (aka chief)
@nuez yo wtf. I am literally descended from that tribe. I know these stories from my grandmother. Who was helping revitalize mysk kubun. Our language. Like obviously the movie has issues but…it’s a fun dumb movie. Why come at me with this energy?

Elton John (my hero) and Tim Rice were brought in to write the songs for The Road to El Dorado after writing the songs for The Lion King. Hans Zimmer has done the score for both films.

Thank you so much for reviewing this film. I loved the characters, the story, and the songs, especially the end credits song, “Someday Out Of The Blue.” Oh, did you ever see the music video for that song? If not, you should. Elton John turns into an animated character for that music video. Anyway, I do wish that the “h” word hadn’t been in this film a few times, and that Tulio, and Miguel’s conflict near the end had been resolved in a more satisfying manner. Still, I love the movie for what it is for the most part. Anyway, great job yet again!!

Would’ve loved to see you react to the dice scene, “Where was she keeping them?…” For me, the best line in the movie, still makes me chuckle. Sadly though, there’s to sequel,
16:05 That depends on the gods. Greek gods have golden ichor for blood, Norse gods are capable of dying under very specific circumstances so it makes sense that they would bleed. Some gods have lost hands, arms, eyes and even a testicle.
Crazy how much she looks like a Chel tho! I paused so many times cause I could have SWORN Chel had a mole too!!! I seen this a million times and I’m trippin!
You know, I just realized a major plot hole in this movie. How the hell did Blinkie or whatever the hell his name is, come across that map and where did it come from? I have a theory, but it just doesn't seem logical. The map would have had to come from the new world, but we never get any indication about its origins.
Well, maybe he just got that from a traveler. Remember that Christopher Colombus traveled before Cortes, so he had some interaction with the New World before the hole killing and conquer began. So maybe some random guy stole the map from Colombus and then he got stolen from one of the men that where with Cortes, the same man that was playing dice with Tulio and Miguel.
It’s a fun movie, I remember this one my original reaction, “was wait what movie!?” It’s amusing to watch it back now!! I love your bangs, you’re rockin’ them 💕💕

The first movie they released was called Antz (which kinda started their rivalry with Disney), and it was one of the most vulgar things I have ever seen in my entire life.
is nt ants still ownd by disney ? DreamWorks left disney long time ago now ownd by Comcast Universal

The first ‘bad guy’ was Cortes. Voiced by Jim Cumming (voice of Winnie the Pooh and many others). Cortes was a Spanish explorer who led the conquest for gold in Mexico and modern day Central America.
You put "bad guy" in quotes and called a colonizer an "explorer."

Oh my days YOURE GORGEOUS!!!
I am pretty sure the chief actually realised they weren't really gods, he just didn't care, because they got rid of the High priest
Chel is a baddie, she's so naughty 😂😂. Obviously Tullio had no intentions of being naughty but Chel kept seducing him
13:03 was kinda sus ngl but I will not talk much about it bcuz it's weird 😇
1:21 girl I love your vids and this one was just spot on
the fact that you look exactly like Chel, you seriously SLAYY
@nuez I never said there was a golden city….but the zipa ceremony DID happen at Lake Guatavita…
@nuez ïe cho but somehow I doubt you will

Your Chel cosplay is very much on point 👍🏿. I would love to be able to watch this movie as if I was seeing it for the first time again. I wish 2D animated movies like this were still as common.
I absolutely LOVED this movie as a kid and was surprised you hadn’t seen it

This is my first time watching this movie as well. Ilysm Rukiya!

This movie gives such huge polyamorous vibes, I love it
I know right?! Major poly vibes. I need a sequel with them 3 officially together
@@RukiyaReacts Ugh me too! I feel like had it been a modern day production and a different company, they totally would've went for it!
Originally, the idea was for Miguel and Tulio to actually be an actual couple. Of course, being 90's Dreamworks, that was shouted down.

16:05 That depends on the gods. Greek gods have golden ichor for blood, Norse gods are capable of dying under very specific circumstances so it makes sense that they would bleed. Some gods have lost hands, arms, eyes and even a testicle.

You and Chelsea look like perfect twins, beautiful.
Hmm that’s a good question 🤔 I wished we have gotten a sequel or even prequel for them to explain that loophole

El Dorado by Edgar Allan Poe
Gaily bedight,
A gallant knight,
In sunshine and in shadow,
Had journeyed long,
Singing a song,
In search of Eldorado.
But he grew old-
This knight so bold-
And o’er his heart a shadow-
Fell as he found
No spot of ground
That looked like Eldorado.
And, as his strength
Failed him at length,
He met a pilgrim shadow-
‘Shadow,’ said he,
‘Where can it be-
This land of Eldorado?’
‘Over the Mountains
Of the Moon,
Down the Valley of the Shadow,
Ride, boldly ride,’
The shade replied,-
‘If you seek for Eldorado!’
you could totally dress up as chel for halloween or something!! you have the perfect bangs for it
