We are all in disbelief here, it truly doesn’t make sense. I joined the Paint and Sip craze in 2013, and in mid 2017 wanted to learn to paint at home. Did my google search for sunflower acrylic paintings, found the Art Sherpa right away for her Van Gogh Sunflowers, became obsessed with watching all her videos on learning to paint. Learned way more than I ever did than going to a P & S. A month later, found her mom Ginger Cook and Angela Anderson. I soon found you. I now have closets filled with supplies, canvases and my own art studio in my spare bedroom. Cinnamon literally changed my life. Heaven has gained an art angel, 👼 RIP dear Art Sherpa 💕you were truly one of a kind, the kindest person I’ve ever known who cared so much about others. 🙏

One of Cinnamon’s tutorials was recommended to me early in my crafting journey. Not long after, she was on a video with Maymay and Vinnie. I went to Maymay’s first grand opening on my birthday and when I met Maymay, she told me I resembled her friend Cinnamon. I thought Cinnamon was beautiful and that comment has stayed with me through the years. I then met her at a Pinner’s Conference and was able to get a hug.
Cinnamon gave me the courage to try painting, and her tutorials helped me get through my mother’s passing and my grandson’s stillbirth. She was love, and gave it so freely. I haven’t painted in a while, life has a way of getting in the way. The next time I’m at the easel, wishes for her family will be included.

I have no words for the news about Cinnamon. It came out of nowhere, and even though I haven't watched her channel in a long time, I had such immense respect and joy for her purpose. It's a very surreal thought that I'll no longer be able to go "I wonder if Cinnamon has a tutorial for this?" and look at her channel.
So instead, I want to end on a cheerful art note, because I think that's what'd make her happy anyway. You brought up oak tag (however it's spelled), and that brought back the biggest nostalgia trip. When I was in single digits, my dad brought home this big box of paper from his office, and oak tag turned out to be my absolute favorite from that bunch. I used it for EVERYTHING, including 4 "life size" drawings of the Beatles, which was actually comprised of several sheets all taped together and cut out. I had my mom hang them on my wall, and I was so proud of them! So yeah, that type of paper will always hold a fond memory in my heart.

You're absolutely right, it doesn't make sense. I stumbled onto Cinnamon's videos back in 2016 when I discovered that painting was a way to save my sanity and bring peace to my spirit. It was actually because of her that I found your channel. In a world where social media can often be toxic, negative, and mean, she created a space (and community) of kindness, acceptance, and beauty. Even though I didn't know her personally, I will feel her absence deeply. The gift she shared with the world is invaluable. My thoughts are with her family, friends, and community.

I found you thru her and all the people she connected with. That micro community. I have been waiting to hear what you would say. I have had tears on and off. She brought light when it was dark. She taught us that yes we can paint and be who we are no matter what. She brought love and light into the world and wore her feels on her shoulders. I remember when she got so upset about Bob Ross and his birthday and I really did not know who he was but the curly haired painter with happy little trees. Until I watched a full episode and understood. Cinnamon is MY bob Ross. Lindsay you are my Saturday Chat Chat when I am getting ready to do my morning hair clients. You are my go to to watch water colors and all the other things. Cinnamon has left a legacy. A community. And I bet she is riding horses, Painting all the things and hanging with Bob. It’s been a rough year. I lost a dear friend unexpectedly on Nov 22nd. He was 62. He went into the hospital because of 2 compressed discs got an infection and passed within a week. Life is fragile. I think Julia Childs said it best, everything in moderation. You can live the healthiest life and be killed by a drunk driver or even some masonry falling off a building. Just live and enjoy the time you have with those who love and appreciate you.

Lindsay, I am beyond shocked, as you are, to hear the sad news about Cinnamon. When I started painting watercolor years ago as grief therapy for what was going on in my life, I found you and Cinnamon and found inspiration to create. You two were my first painting teachers as I began my watercolor journey. Even though she taught mostly acrylic, I found the positivity in her videos uplifting. Thank you for helping us feel this profound loss. Cinnamon (such an apropos name for such a bright spark) was the first art teacher I ever found and she did exactly what you described, she helped lift me when I was in a dangerously unhealthy (physically and spiritually) place by demonstrating that working with colors could literally heal. It’s something I just intuitively picked up by watching her.
I screenshotted a picture of her last summer so I could show my hairdresser how I wanted my hair-it was platinum blonde with pastel-pink in the bangs, all short but a pompadour on top. I’m glad I have that picture and I’ve looked at it often just because it’s such a perfect picture of a person that makes me so happy.
I hope Cinnamon’s lovely family and all of the lovely art students and friends can feel some relief from the enormous amount of love everyone is expressing. Cinnamon seemed like a person who no one in this world could help but love.
I wanted to add that I loved Cinnamon’s watercolor offerings as well, they had a really fun energy that was also very calming as watercolor’s energy combined with Cinnamon teaching-it was just really perfect.

I saw the sketches and scrubs video. I appreciate your counterpoints. I want to do a yt channel, possibly, and I was going to show how supplies perform because that's what I like watching. I think those videos do help the consumers. Thanks!

She’s the first artist I met on TH-cam. My eldest brother is an amazingly talented artist who can work in any medium except sculpting. I showed signs of having talent "but only if I didn’t stop drawing." That was a quote from a rep who worked with artists. My brother was constantly involved in some kind of new art practice that he aced in record time. I couldn’t compete with that so I didn’t (kid-think; simplistic and all consuming). Since I didn’t keep up with it, I thought I lost my one chance to nurture a special talent.
I started watching artists on TH-cam and after seeing the amazing variety of phenomenal talent, I thought I’d have to content myself with living vicariously through them. One day while flipping through the TH-cam art channels I saw a painting that took my breath away. It was Cinnamon. While I watched her demonstrate how easy it was and heard her assure us that even if we didn’t get the results we wanted in art at the beginning (and of course we wouldn’t), it was fine and we would get there. The important thing was to enjoy the process and keep on keeping on. This was huge for me. She made me believe I could paint or draw if I wanted to and put in the practice; even as an adult. I hadn’t ruined my chance by not continuing to draw as a child (I was in second grade when I got that soul crushing "advice," I think). I found out about you, Lindsey, because of Cinnamon. She had nothing but the highest praise for you. She had recommended your video on uses for glycerin in art. She recommended we check you out and follow. I knew the assignment.

Thank you for speaking words for Cinnamon Cooney, I have not yet been able to.
You did great! to encourage me, once again.
I also learned about you through Cinnamon, and you are also a main staple of my scrolling/learning.
Art is such a peaceful place for me to be.
Cinnamon and you are both brilliant shining lights for the art world. 💖

I totally agree that a rep of a company can totally treat one client so nice with freebies and discounts and can totally rip another another client just because personalities clash...happens in the medical field all the time...been there done that!!!! yes very unreal of the passing of the sweet Art Sherpa...no words can ease the shock...leaves a person in dismay.....

I am so sorry about the loss of your friend….for you, for her family, and for the art community. So young. You definitely needed retail therapy, and that fabric is the best. If I could sew well, I’d have snagged it too. Penny is so funny…first she’s afraid of the storm, then escapes into the storm, and then runs away when you try to get her back in. 😂 she’s like a bad child. As for your neighbor, she probably needs retail therapy as well. What a grouch. She’s probably just jealous that Penny is a free spiri!😊 have a good week, Lindsay.

I too am in disbelief and so very sad. She was indeed a bright light and it seems unbelievable. Someone wrote that whenever we see a rainbow know that Cinnamon is painting from above. If it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t be painting. Your words mean a lot Lindsay.

I'm really sorry to hear about Cinnamon. It's very hard to lose a friend so suddenly. My sympathies to you, and her family and friends. Yes, a podcast with Sketches'n'Scrubs would be good. It would be very interesting to hear you both discuss your experiences with the companies. I'm also wondering how the prospect of tariffs on imported products might affect the US art supplies market, too. Look after yourself and let's hope the coming week is a better one. 💙

I can't make sense of it either. I'm still in shock. When I got on YT searching for acrylic painting tutorials, she was the one I started watching first. She was so vibrant and upbeat and pixie-like cute. And she was a good teacher. What a large whole this is leaving in the art and YT world. 😥
