My HRV is all over the place, from as high as 148 to as low as 25. It does not seem to correlate with any activities or behaviors except sometimes it seems to go higher with alcohol use. It makes no sense, but maybe my fitbit Sense 2 is not accurate? My Charge 4 gave the same irregular readings.
I hate to tell you but I used to get crazy spikes in HRV. My avg would be around 60 but I’d sometimes get as high as 180. I noticed when this would happen my rhr would be in the 60s instead of the 40s (I do a lot of endurance). Turns out I have atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter and it fucking sucks. I started getting major tachycardia. Keep an eye on it. If you have high HRV and high RHR, I would go to urgent care or your pcp and get an ekg. Or, you can test it on some Apple Watches. Btw, my measurements were taken on a whoop. Btw, a single drink of alcohol doubles your chances of having an episode of atrial fib, so that could be why you’re seeing this after drinking sometimes. Most people find HRV crashes after drinking.
If HRV wouldn't stop you training, then what value even is it? If it's not strong enough of a metric to influence behaviour then pointless measuring it.
From the perspective of marathon training, it might be better to do an easy day instead of a hard day. Arguably heart rate would be a much better indicator than hrv for this, but I'm still waiting to see if people on the cutting edge have found any rhyme or reason to hrv and training.
I sell pacemaker and defibrillator here in France. So I work with among the best rythmologists in the world. ALL of them told me HRV was just a scam. They don’t even know what it could mean. The best of the best! Just PURE MARKETING.
Mine is 9 when I drink…

Seems so. Using Whoop and it doesn’t deviate too much.
my HRV is between 20 to 30 lol
I have same issue using my Fitbit Charge 3. It doesn't always measure higher heart rates during exercise consistently either.
I have a fitbit sense 2 as well and my HRV stays between 10-20 no matter what I do (which i don't think is good at all)
