Boys. For MEGA safety include a MEGA brace with plate on each end half way down inside the c channel from the upright across. The way C channel fails is it twists and loses shape. Don't rely on the particle board for bracing.
Mega suggestion list: 1. Run a bit of tape along the bottom edge of the yellow tongue so any dropped nuts don't roll into the cavity. 2. Get some sheet metal as a magnetic splashback then wrap it. Good for holding torches. 3. Perhaps Camera mounts so you can film stuff on the bench. 4. Pendant power points and a charging station for batteries/phones/cameras/torches/tools. 5. plumb an air line across to the bench so you have bench air. Or 5.b. A mini compressor tucked in there for those times when you just need a little air to aid with a job. 6. Curtains to keep sparks/dust/overspray away from your shiny tool boxes. 7. Make a "spill kit" so it's easy to get at in a hurry. 8. Clean and dirty separation areas and bins right there. 9. Lino or a cutting mat for gasket making. 10. Make a PPE/safety/first aid spot so it's easy to reach your ppe.
Overhead air and power reels, pretty affordable. Can tuck your compressor away, or even outside. Battery tool mounts, heaps of 3d printed ones available, wall mount your chargers, i screwed old kitchen cabinets to similar wall cladding, cheap storage! Great work boys!
As someone else has mentioned, it would have been good to have insulation behind that wall. Don't forget to locate your power points. Hooks for spool cables. I reckon you should leave a blank section of the wall for stickers. Viewers can post you out stickers of where they live. For example, someone who lives at Oberon can send you a couple of stickers of the Jenolan Caves & call it the "I've Been Everywhere" part of the wall. Have Kinchrome sent you that large box of 10mm sockets yet? That box would look good on the MEGGAHWALLL!
Get some colour LED strips lights for the inside of the c-channel !!! AKA party lights for when you are in the shed but don’t want the big bright lights on. Plus you can control them with App on your phone… Also sheeted the rest of the shed the same way to….
Nice work lads! I lined my 6 x 9m shed with Tounge & Groove & bloody Love it! All the room for hanging shelves etc. I would definetly paint it & also get your sparky to add a couple LED lights on the underside of the shelf (switched separately to the main lights) They will come in handy for sure, I added one above my desk & it really helps when doing fiddly jobs like rebuilding a carby or soldering etc. Cheers!
Above your benches, print a pic of your choice (maybe a drag week photo?) and frame it like a window! Something motivational, something funny, something emotional... something MEGA. Nice work, looks mint.
MEGA!!! Effort lads love that you are still wanting to upgrade and evolve the Hackshop Garage even though the Hacktory is the shiny new toy. Keep up the awesome work.
Looking good guys. Your could move the tool cabinet into the corner near the roller door and have another small infill made between the bench and the cabinet so you don’t have that awkward little corner to the right of the cabinet.
I built a loft in my shed, 8M X 4M and ran some angle iron across the front to protect the yellow tongue edge when pushing stuff in and finish it off, good job, looks great.
best thing i can recommend since working at a small work shop doing everything sand blaster so good for painting, cleaning up brake stuff and any thing that and added a power tool section/ battery holder on the wall/roof
I'd definitely go pegboard so you can move things about and avoid mounting stuff directly to the cladding until you know exactly where things should live (mine has so many holes from where I've changed things that I need to redo it completely at some stage). While not directly for the MEGA bench I'd suggest keeping an eye out for a second hand compactus (usually used for office file storage) which I think would make great MEGA shelves / allow you to hide some of the less regularly used stuff while still having it easily accessible
The ultimate for wall storage is using a french cleat tool wall, fairly easy to make and you can move all your tools around easily as your collection grows, you can even hang wall cabinets off it if you like!
Looks great guys!!! I'd definitely suggest some reinforcement brackets to each of the uprights though for the mezzanine as otherwise you're relying on just a few bolts to hold up a lot of weight.
I would want a bit more bracing on the mezzanine because that board could sag over time, especially if an engine or something leaks on it. Move the existing lights under the mez and put some LED light strips on top of the mez.
I have pretty much exactly the same setup on both ends of my shed - an idea to hide the myriad of crap that inevitably accumulates on the mezzanine - I got online and ordered some banners the length and height of the mezzanine and hung them to block off the mezzanine - and you can get whatever you like printed on them - in my case I had the Mopar, Chev, Ford and Holden logos printed on them. It really neatens up the shed, and they are easy to move/unhook to get behind them.
Guys, I would try and fit another bench next to the other two and move the single cabinet to the back of the shed right angle to the bench. This would increase your bench and shelving space. The gear box stand can just be mobile, doesn’t really need a spot, because it just takes up room.
Lovin MEGA bench, defs needs some paint, would brighten up the bench area even without extra lighting. The bing and bong ref at the end took me way back!
hi fellas, My suggestions.... 1. paint it light to reflect what light you have. 2. powerpoints!!!!!. 3. lighting. 4. pneumatic outlets. 5. possible french cleat some of the wall with power tools. 6. maybe a vertical strut on the outer middle to keep the shelf from sagging. Doesn't have to be the big C channel you have, rather a 100 x 100 x 6mm square tube to prop it up..... Awesome job, Lads.
I lined my 8 x 12 with the structafloor too. After looking at it for two days I went to Bunnings, bought an airless spray gun, 20 litres of brilliant white paint and gave it all two coats. Mine lights up like daylight now when the lights are all on. I also went way overboard with power. Can never have enough. Every 2.5/3m I have a 4 port power board at chest height and 2 port down low. A power charging station is also a must but I would put that on the OG bench/wall.
Great build, I would paint the wood you put up. A lighter color would be good to reflect more light on or get someone to paint your logo on it. a bench vise mounted on one of the tables would be really handy. maybe between the 2 benches would be a good spot for something like that. also maybe have a few stools under the benchtops.
I like watching you younger lads learn. Well done for having a crack at most. Would like to see you learn tig welding and plasma cutting then you should be nearly there.
That infill section would be good for a drop down vice for light work, paint the walls white for better light reflection, led lighting, wall mounted charging stations, retractable air hose, retractable 240v lead,a tv with a google chrome cast so you stream how to's off you tube and most importantly the beer fridge.
Hey guys, Your always after Hacks. I mentioned it to you at your club day, Glass and Chrome Cleaner to clean your tools before you put them back in that Mega Tool Box. Then everytime you go to use your gear its clean, Pretty simple....
Great MEGA bench. Leave your benches on wheels because you may find that you just want them a bit closer to the project you are working on. Space for your garbage bin. Power points along the wall, more than you think you ever will need. Fire extinguisher and first aid kit should be located near by and hopefully you will never need either of them. Most importantly, don’t forget your bar fridge! BTW I’m old enough to be your mum, and love your work. Keep up the entertainment
You should hang spools of automotive wire on a cross pole above the MEGA bench, either use a holesaw in the new c-chanel or use conduit brackets.....Its MEGAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do u have a very heavy work bench all 6mm steel construction with a 8 inch vice . ?? A wood work bench or steel frame with 25mm ply top work well also .
hi Do u have an island bench ???? An island bench can have 5-7 drawer roller cabs under it . The 7 draw version canbe a little tall pending model . Solution is have the wheels on the side of box or remove and use 19mm timber chocks .
That was EXACTLY the step by step guide to what I want to do in my smaller 7x 6m shed - do you have a $ figure of what that cladding and the C Channel cost? Was that a bunnings purchase? LED lighting for sure and def need hangers and magnetic stuff for holding lights and other things. MEGA DETH!!!
A hidden air compressor or something like that garage tour you had. Otherwise a working V8 engine to just rev. If space is an issue a Harley v twin will do.
Considering the whole episode is based on building MEGA bench you didn’t actually build ANY bench🤣🤣🤣 maybe the episode should have been MEZA nine. Looks mint either way. Well done
Did you guys have a vid swapping out a ls1 auto to a 6speed manual? I thought i saw an episode before and was waiting for the follow-up episode but i cant find it. if you have got a link for it plz that would help me out or is the video removed? Ps you should of lifted the yellow tongue all the way to the roof with that extra 25mm or so you had left. so that way you would have more than 10mm incase it gets wet cause that shit swells up n gets farked if any water touches it.should paint it with some kind of outdoor weather resistant paint now n maybe waterprrof the bottom 100mm and silicone the bottom after paint. In hidsight probably should of sarkinged it with some foil aswell to prevent moisture build up from condensation. Anyways boys looking good so far on MMEEGGAA BBEENNCCHH LOL.
Don't use pegboard. The hooks keep falling out when you grab anything off them. I started with pegboard and have changed to french cleats. The best thing I ever did. you can make custom tool holders and still have the ability to move things around. Do yourself a favour and check out some TH-cam videos on french cleats.
1st get pallet racking 900Deep not the 600mm you have the length of the bay and height of the shed gutter line This should maximise use of space your trying to fill have shelving 1800mm and above so u can walk under NB an xtra shelf of 2.4mt x 1.2mt can be cheaply attached to p/racking and suspended from roof battens . 2 a / make bench and fill in space between racking uprights 2b / use pallet racking as bench once re-enforced 2c / store roller cabs of tools ******plywood sheet on wall to hold wall mount parts bins ******** mount retractable hose reals to pallet racking uprights ,,above head height Above solution works very well and cheaply but does not have the glamour.
I noticed your wall fan near your future MEGA BENCH , just wanted your opinion of it ..... I bought 2 pedestals the same but found the Blades don't throw the air properly all they do is make a unbearable noise 1
Boys. For MEGA safety include a MEGA brace with plate on each end half way down inside the c channel from the upright across. The way C channel fails is it twists and loses shape. Don't rely on the particle board for bracing.
Agreed. Been in warehouses when c channel gets “bumped” twisting is the “Mega” failure point. Looks great guys!
Even a brace in the centre from the roof down to the outer channel. Looks awesome 👌

I could watch garage and shed building stuff like this almost as much as your usual car content.
As someone else has mentioned, it would have been good to have insulation behind that wall. Don't forget to locate your power points. Hooks for spool cables.

I’m so jealous of the MEGA BENCH and all your tools boys. Great job 👍🇦🇺

This is the best time spent with friends
I have fitted a retractable air line in-between the legs on my benches. Makes use of the dead space and is MEGA handy.
Looking good guys. Your could move the tool cabinet into the corner near the roller door and have another small infill made between the bench and the cabinet so you don’t have that awkward little corner to the right of the cabinet.

What a MEGA effort guys. Looking good.
Looks good fellas well done 👍

Great idea but I reckon use this banner idea like a curtain hanging off the mezzanine to stop overspray /grinding dust getting onto the benches.
Mega bench is so cool, boys. Well done!
Onwards and upwards guys looks awesome!!!!
Ya know it’s serious when your work bench ends up on blocks.
Wall mounted charging station for everything.
You have to love the hand of the Blue Hammer Thor
Guys,
I would try and fit another bench next to the other two and move the single cabinet to the back of the shed right angle to the bench. This would increase your bench and shelving space. The gear box stand can just be mobile, doesn’t really need a spot, because it just takes up room.

Welcome to
MEGA BENCH.
Awesome job guys.
✌️ Peace.
Very impressive 😊
You should hang spools of automotive wire on a cross pole above the MEGA bench, either use a holesaw in the new c-chanel or use conduit brackets.....Its MEGAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice work boys
Use pvc pipe and fittings to make a funnel tree that way they will drip in the pipe and can be drained with a valve at the bottom
be good to mount the air compressor on the mezzanine and plumb to the hose reels. Keeps it in the air out of the way and saves floor soacw
Mega mega mega cool guys.luv your work its mega great😂
Top job guys got yar hoodie today thanks guys.
Mr Hackshops presents Kingkrome Korner with Nathen and his lovely assistant Michelle.
Thats awesome boys mint!!! just what i want to do to my almost MEGAAA!!!! shed (spoken in TUFF man voice)😅
Take it easy Byron 👍
More power points for battery charging and a car stereo inbuilt in a mdf box plus good led lighting and don’t forget the bar fridge
Tool rack - just paint white and insert screws at appropriate spots. Black texta for labelling
Put the locker back on the toolbox and notch the bench around the post
Beam Me Up Scottie. (Late 70's Early 80's Startrack)
Hope you lads have good drainage with good water channeling in case of a flood
If only you knew someone who could do a MEGA vinyl wrap for the board!
Do u have a very heavy work bench all 6mm steel construction with a 8 inch vice . ??
A wood work bench or steel frame with 25mm ply top work well also .
The channel is always MEGA,😂,love the channel and keep it up mate cheers 👍👌🍻🍻
Seal and paint yellow tongue board’s first for protection later
Paint the wall. Power points with usb. And put the beer fridge back
hi
Do u have an island bench ???? An island bench can have 5-7 drawer roller cabs under it .
The 7 draw version canbe a little tall pending model . Solution is have the wheels on the side of box or remove and use 19mm timber chocks .
That was EXACTLY the step by step guide to what I want to do in my smaller 7x 6m shed - do you have a $ figure of what that cladding and the C Channel cost? Was that a bunnings purchase? LED lighting for sure and def need hangers and magnetic stuff for holding lights and other things. MEGA DETH!!!
Hey mate. The C channels were around $400 due to their length and size and the board were around $1000 I think
A hidden air compressor or something like that garage tour you had. Otherwise a working V8 engine to just rev. If space is an issue a Harley v twin will do.
MEGA !!
I built frames within the c channel area, and insulated my shed then installed white malemime board, similar strength but way less effort.
Hey Guys. I know it's extra money, but i would have insulated that entire wall as a future proof thing. Anyway, keep up the good work. Greg.
Needs a MEGA beer fridge
Paint it white to help with brightness 😊
MEGA!!!!
When you make the infill for the benchs add a stainless splash Back to protect the wall. Your welcome 😅
Ok people, we're waazaaayyy past MEGA bench. We're now in the realm of MEGA WALL BENCH, this has now taken the GARAGE to 2.0. ❤❤
Gotta have a sign on the C Channel face saying “MEGA BENCH” for sure. Know any good sign writers?😂
Gents.. what size & thickness were those purlins? I need to do something similar
MEEEEEEGA BENCH
📣📢 MEEEEGGGGAAAAA BEEEEENCH!!!!
Considering the whole episode is based on building MEGA bench you didn’t actually build ANY bench🤣🤣🤣 maybe the episode should have been MEZA nine. Looks mint either way. Well done

Anyways boys looking good so far on MMEEGGAA BBEENNCCHH LOL.
What thickness are you using Thanks
Now ur just showing off!!
Is that yellow tongue that you used for the wall cladding? What did you use to fasten it to the shed?
peg board ....hanging shit is good fun...
and tubs for your nuts/bolts you remove
Don't use pegboard. The hooks keep falling out when you grab anything off them. I started with pegboard and have changed to french cleats. 2 a / make bench and fill in space between racking uprights
2b / use pallet racking as bench once re-enforced
2c / store roller cabs of tools
******plywood sheet on wall to hold wall mount parts bins
******** mount retractable hose reals to pallet racking uprights ,,above head height
Above solution works very well and cheaply but does not have the glamour.
should pulled the power cable through the panels
You should mount your battery chargers on the wall
I noticed your wall fan near your future MEGA BENCH , just wanted your opinion of it ..... I bought 2 pedestals the same but found the Blades don't throw the air properly all they do is make a unbearable noise 1
should have put a middle piece of C channel in to give a bit more support because it really is a big span
hi When u wash the shed out with pressure washer or hose that lovely chip board will get wet .......
Power points
Wait!!!! A MEGA mini MEZZANINE........
So much more room for activities...😂😂😂😂😂😂
Surely youre going to paint the wall.?
Yeah I rekon we will
Yes "round up" is very corrosive
Paint the wall white guys, you’ll thank yourself later!
Paint it white
You need to hide something behind there.. so in 50 years time when someones pulling it apart, they'll be like oh a photo of someones nuts (and bolts)
I know you mentioned that you’re not insulating the first wall….you’ll be sorry
Hope you paint that wood fellas!
MEGA!!!!
