That army man looking figure is a mini reproduction of a Chinese Shang Dynasty terracotta warrior. The originals (thousands of them - avg 6' tall) were buried standing in formation, around 200 BC & found in the 1970's. What a fun find for you!

They sometimes plate lower karat gold with higher karat gold to give it more shine and a brighter gold appearance.

Hey Jim.... :) I used to metal detect all the time but since moving to Thailand I have been unsure of the acceptance of this. I think the eagle in the v is a US Navy Petty Officer Third Class pin. Of course I can not share the IP address of the picture but I am pretty sure it is the same thing.

I have yet to find any great items at a beach, but have only had the opportunity to hunt a few (and only during winter...) Fingers crossed for future hunts. I'd dig that wheat penny. Cheers.
I use beach cams to track the volume of people, helps me target areas that had a larger volume of hopeful beach deposits. Hope that helps and good luck on your next hunt.

Hey Jim what do you think about a electric bike riding on the beach I have lower back issues?
The Heybike and the Troxus explorer my back handled really well. riding along the wet sand during a lower tide is perfect.

The 800 is still my favorite machine, the 900 is deeper and loves iron. So I am a little frustrated with the 900 because it loves deep iron.
