    I fished them same spots 35 years ago! Good to see some younger guys like yourself still doing it!

    Awesome video! So accurate on the reality aspect of fishing downtown.

      I appreciate that. So frustrating sometime but once you get into some it’s so rewarding

    That’s not a bad spot, I’ve landed a few there as well. I’m not a huge fan of fishing with the crowd at the dam so I generally fish around the bridges and do well. Nice video

    Like your attitude on fishing for steelhead! Ive caught approximately 500 in about 20 years in Washington (sucked last 20 years here).best thing to do when your with a bunch of other fishermen is keep your rod up,and slightly angled against them.they try to get down and wears them out faster(i have found).you did great though!

    I’ll be anxious to see what everyone is going to do when they rip out the dams and there is nothing to stop those fish. Rockford will get overrun.
    If the river is below 3000 CFS there are a lot of holes you can wade to.

      Should make things interesting for sure. Do you know when they are planning on doing that?

      @@jettfishing7644 it’s was actually supposed to start last year (2020) now I have heard they will start with the coffer dams in 2023 with the 6th street dam to be the last to be removed. Look up the White Water Project in Grand Rapids. That site will have more details.
      The good thing is there is an invasive species portion of the project to limit lamprey migration. All in all it should really transform that area, hopefully the locals can keep it clean.

    You hate it when you can’t get “your”spot?!? It’s everyone’s spot with the amount of videos every one posts in that one spot.Hope you guys enjoy fighting over spots down there👍🏼

    • @jettfishing7644

      Haha I know it’s everyone’s spot don’t worry. It’s the name of the game down there and it’s always been that way down there no matter how many videos are coming from downtown.

    actually that spot is money. After they run those rapids they rest just above and regain energy so you were drifting a good spot still. One trick that I've learned over the years with steelhead is that if they are running downstream and trying to leave the hole your fighting them in quickly lay your rod down almost to the water and let off almost all pressure on the fish but just barely enough to keep the hook from coming loose and usually the fish work its way back into the hole. I've proven it to myself many many time my dude

    Hey man question for you. Do you use braided line for main line then switch to the mono since the braid freezes up when temps get cold?

    • @jettfishing7644
      @jettfishing7644  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find myself mainly using float line now just because steelhead have some gnarly head shakes (especially when they are using the current). So mono has a lot of stretch and it’s helps not pull the hook out of their mouth. I used to use braid but I found myself losing more fish and if a fish gets wrapped up in that stuff it can really do some damage.
