    It worts its price compared to a 20+yrs old ppc board for 1500 Eur... Danm good stuff, owned the A1-500 (sam460) and it was a very cool stuff too but its SOC @1.2 ghz wasn't fast enough and the sortage of expansion ports was a big problem sometimes. . Now this one seems a really complete system with plenty of board spaces and its CPU is simply a beast. Aas I saw it comes with 4.1FE, RadeonHD and W3D Nova drivers. (it was a bit expensive to get them for A1-500... Nice machine Frank, congrats. Amiga rulez 4ever!

    it is a very good computer just to expensive for what you get. quake2, wolfenstein3d i mean "come on" this games are old as hell. you can not even watch youtube on this computer. my mobilephone has more power and can cut and render 4k videos, why they just hold on this old PPC ? switch on mobile cpu like apple go on m1. or at last intel or amd .. god anything in better and cheaper. more people would come back to the system. Sometimes i think the last amiga users really "want" to be somekind of dying out people. i dont want to offend you, i can understand that you like your amiga and have fun with it. i like it too just the prices are insane

      20 year old games that runned in a PII/III cpu , using power pc SOC for routing or small devices, that are comparable in performance to a raspberry pi 3, but just using one core in amiga OS.....

    Hi, a sincere question, not polemic. Why spend so much money for an new version of Amiga with Linux with an hardware that is slower than an apple g5 that is 3000 time slower than a i3 pc that costs about £300. I missed the point. I love Amiga but I don't understand. There is something that no one says and the Amiga lover must know? Info around are not very exhaustive, so I am looking for an excuse to spend that money. Please give me a good one. thanks

      The reason is simple: Amiga + AmigaOS 4.1FE

      I know this is an old comment but because the Amiga systems run on a PowerPC CPU, the luxury of having a non-intel based machine is what makes it cost so much.

      @mario Izzo Where do you get those numbers from?

      @@TemalCageman That was a bit of an exaggeration just to express a concept. I am not saying that the PPC P5020 is not a decent CPU, but it is also a surpassed expensive architecture, please read this scientific documentation d-scholarship.pitt.edu/36185/1/EWGretok_MSEE_Thesis_Submission.pdf. In a real-world, an i7 6th gen it is 3 or 4 time (300% or 400%) faster than the CPU used in the X5000. Even an ARM Cortex A53 used on an Odroid SBC that costs $50, have the same performance (except for the FPU). Now I ask you, how much it costs an i7 6th gen? How much it costs a PPC p5020?. Amiga was an innovative architecture that was able to surpass all the existing architecture using just a well-known CPU, far from intel. I don't resemble the same spirit in this architecture. But again it is just my insignificant point of view. I asked if you know something that I don't, to better understand the new Amiga. The lack of tests and comparison benchmark doesn't play in favour of this new hadware.
      Best regards.

      @@marioizzo4985 Well... it is a computer designed to run Amiga OS 4.1 FE without emulation. There are people still using their 68k Amigas more than they use their PCs. So, it is not about how fast a processor is, it is certanly something related to the OS itself. At least that is what it is to me. It is like a vacation from Windows... :)
      I am about to get an Amiga X5000... I already have a Sam460 running AmigaOS 4.1, but it is a bit unstable. I also have 4 windows machines, the latest addition is with the high end Threadripper 3990X, which I use in conjunction with work-related stuff such as 3D rendering using LightWave 3D.

    Price for the board is too expensive, and no one e else seems to make Freescale Powerpc based atx, etc

    • @lsdude4205
      @lsdude4205 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it is pretty expensive. The amiga one x5000 is pretty much designed for die hard amiga users, who refuse to move on to other computer architectures.

      Or who love to use/toy with AOS4 HW beside their mainstream computer.
      High-end Amigas have always been expensive, x5000 is not different vs that.
      (eg. my A2000$1600, A4000$2300, I might get x5000 next. Beside my 68k and PPC "Amigas" I also have ~5 x86 PCs running various OSs.)

      Aros os is good option and you can install it pc.Not all hardware are supported yet but they are updating all the time.
