Really beautiful park. Neat that they have those carriage roads. Loved the waterfalls, the pine trees and the rhododendron along the trails.
It is a really beautiful area, it looks and feels like it should be in the Adirondacks or maybe Green or White Mountains not 60 miles from NYC.
Interesting place. A lot of unusual scenery there. Castle Rock looks very cool, and wow, what a vista at Castle Point! And Peter's Kill looks like a lovely river of root beer. Thanks, Kurt and Panda!
This entire area, Shawanagunk Ridge, looks and feels like it should be up in the Adirondacks. That carriage road along Castle Point is just miles of vistas.
Awesome episode Kurt 👊🏻
Thanks dude!
Been there a few times ourselves, love that area of NY! Actually I think it was the last hiking area we took with Blaze...that we filmed at least. Thanks for sharing, bringing back some memories! - Shane
This was my third time there, it seems so out of place in that area of NY. Feels like it should be much further north
Was there a couple of weeks ago during the snowstorm. This place was incredibly beautiful during that storm. Over by Lake Minnewaska is an incredible visitor and learning center. We did the loop around the lake and then went to Awosting Falls all during that storm that dropped a foot on the Catskills. Best time to visit this place is winter. Was empty and gorgeous. Definitely return to do the Lake Minneswaska side and the falls.
The last time I was here was a few years ago on, either the last day of April or first day of May, but it snowed... then it got hot lol Slide Mt was awesome in that snow. This was my third trip here, I've done the visitor center/Minnewaska Lake area, High Peterskill Area, Sam's Point and now Awosting.
Incredible landscape and scenery… will add this to my list.
It really is a cool spot, a very unique landscape for that part of NY.
@@KurtZitzelman Yes, looks like it has aspects of both southern Appalachians and northern woods.
Beautiful area and cool hike man!
This really is a nice spot.
Ha! Yes for big snakes :) love that area. Very close to home
We didn't see any snakes but did hear a lot of movement in the leaves near trail that could have been. Great place to have nearby
@@KurtZitzelman I’ve run into some super chunky rattlers there lol. Also a great copper head
