  • Thinking about making a purchase from Texas Pride trailers? I ordered a brand new Reeving Roll off trailer and 6 dumpsters from them at the end of 2022. I break down some of the things they did well... and a few of the things they didn't during the build and delivery process. Watch the video to learn my feelings about them and see if it was all worth it.

    Why are you derating trailers? Because of cdl or just because of strength .

    • @MAXCODumpsters
      @MAXCODumpsters  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A combination of both. I’m sure a 16k trailer would have been fine, but I’d rather have a trailer that weighs a few hundred pounds more, but can lift an extra 1 ton+. I’m not a fan of pushing equipment to its limits. Not regularly at least. It’s less stress when it’s a touch over built.

      I believe standard rail is a better rail system for growing your business. From what I can see you’ll save about $1k a dumpster in the used market and $2-3k per can if your looking new. Depending on your long term goals MAXXD may be perfect for you, but if you want a 5+ dumpster business I’d recommend standard rails.

      @@MAXCODumpsters thanks for the advise. I own a tree service in Kansas. Never thought of buying a dumpster business, but was offered one 10 years ago for 100k. I like to watch these business grow, and the diversity in each of them.

      @@abetaylor4977 If your goal is to only service your own tree business and maybe rent out one or two at a time then MAXXD could be a great option. If your going to drop big logs into the dumpster, you’ll want to get a durable one though (maybe look at a dumpster fab shop or a standard rail system with thick cans). I started with dump trailers. You could always buy one or two to try out your market with.

      @@MAXCODumpsters I purchased a MaxxD 16' dump trailer almost 2 years ago. Doubled the deck and flared the sides for more capacity. I also haul my equipment, miniskid and stump grinder daily. Downgraded it to 14k with 8k axles. To stay under 26k. I like that idea of only having a couple cans. We haven't rented a single dumpster after I purchased my dump trailer. Use to order about 60 a year.

    Standard rail?

    • @MAXCODumpsters

      36” rail width. 👍 Different brands have different rail systems. Standard rail is the most common adaptation from a truck standpoint, but the trailers generally run proprietary rail widths. Texas pride is normally a 47” rail system, but will make standard rail if requested.

    It will be broke down constantly and you'll be working on it and cussing tp shortly. Broken zerks that never worked, motor mounts that won't stay tight, wheel bearing that last about a year or less, electric breaks that won't pass inspection, no manual or instructions for maintenance. "Stick your finger in the hydraulic tank, if you can touch the fluid its about right". Welds that break and bed rails that bend over time.

      @@MAXCODumpsters they are good about sending parts. I had big warranty issues. Fortunately I've got an outstanding local shop that has repaired my trailer and made it so much better than the orginal condition. Just an example. My landing gear on day one was so difficult to let up and down we had to take it apart, grease it etc just to get it to function properly. I had zerk fittings on my cable pullies and axle springs that never worked ...ever. Had to drill them out and retap them so I could grease properly.

    • @MAXCODumpsters
      @MAXCODumpsters  ปีที่แล้ว

      MAXXD, PJ, and *I believe* Lonestar all fit each other. The roll off trucks basically all run standard rail. Standard rail cans are generally speaking much more available and less expensive on the new/used market. If you're only going to do a 3 dumpster side hustle it's not very important, but if you want a 5+ dumpster business a standard rail system is a no brainer in my opinion. I've heard a lot of good things about MAXXD, but proprietary rail systems are bad for growth in my eyes.

    • @MAXCODumpsters

      @@amartin6388 Texas Pride generally makes a 47” rail system for their trailers, but if you ask them to build you one with standard rail (which would be 36” rail width) they’ll do it. The three big manufacturers I know of that produce standard rail trails by default are Nedland, Protainer, and Cougar (previously known as Bison).
