    Extra bit of fun knowledge: the white bit inside is called the placenta (it's also where the heat chemicals are in chillies). The useful knowledge is that it attaches to the bell pepper wall where the pepper is indented; so you can cut the lobes of the pepper off without ever getting the bitter white placenta. After all the knowledge you've given me I thought I could at least offer this meagre morsel in return. If you know you know!!

    If you cut the top and bottom off a little thinner, it doesn't result in the same waste as your version of the first method. You can cut the tops and bottoms julienne perfectly fine

    The point of cutting the first way is that when dicing for cooking, each piece and be uniform. This allows them to all cook evenly…

  • @ivantorres4226
    @ivantorres4226 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Oh… Ngl. I’ve never seen either of these methods before. My mother always taught me to cut out the green stem, then slice the pepper in half along a curve/dimple, then just scrape the white, and slice however.
    My guy’s teaching me two new things in one vid! Love it!

  • @marknorman4698
    @marknorman4698 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If you push the top green part inward with your thumbs ,you push in and just the green part and the seeds get pushed in-side the bell pepper, then pull out the green part and the seeds out of the bell pepper ,,, this easy to de-seed and now hav more bell pepper to cut,,😊

  • @DBgColby

    THANK YOU for cutting from the inside out. So many people do it the other way and the waxy skin can cause the knife to slip.

  • @369Sigma
    @369Sigma 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I cut mine straight down the middle and scoop out the inside veins, seeds and pulp. I can also remove the stem completely this way, left with nothing but two halves of pure pepper.

  • @juddvance7721
    @juddvance7721 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I cut the stem flush with the top, flip it upside down, and cut along the angle like you do. It works really well when there are only 3 knobs on the bottom (whatever you call them).

    For cooking with meats as I usually do I just cut out the stem in a circle,and pull out the core and cut it in half lengthways and slice off the white parts easy. Lose as little pepper as possible

    I turn🫑 upside down,then I cut 3 ways from the bottom down to the top (which is now at the bottom on top of table) along the sides which once cut the top will remain alone on the table!! Then slice the 3 pieces and disregard the top!!

    .... i use the knife to carve a circle around the stem, lift the stem part out along with the seed core thing, and then cut next to the "seams" so I get about 3 pieces. And then trim off excess white stuff around the edges of the pieces. I've never seen anyone use either of these, there's so much wasted bell pepper. Why would you ever cut off the bottom?

    A true way to cut a pepper is flip it upsidedown and cut into quarter, take out the seeds and white stuff. and u still get the shape off it and don,t waste nothing.
