  • Steven Waldman discusses his book, "Sacred Liberty", with Sally Quinn at Politics and Prose.
Waldman’s history of religious liberty in America starts with the nation’s founding and traces the country’s integration of a series of different faiths-Judaism, Catholicism, Mormonism, Islam, and African and Native American spiritualities-into the mainstream. While there have been repeated threats to this pluralism-including today’s divisiveness-Waldman, co-founder of Beliefnet and the author of Founding Faith, shows that the nation has consistently rallied to save its “greatest invention,” in the process reaffirming the rights of religious minorities and constructing a diverse and tolerant society that has made us the most religious among the developed nations. Waldman is in conversation with Sally Quinn, whose most recent book is the memoir Finding Magic.
