FAT BIKE
Thanks, I am new to tubeless, and never would have thought of spare valve stems.
Always worth recycling some from old inner tubes! Never know when the stem/valve inner might fail on you.
So good, I am planning a 2023 Divide and this is my go to for the trip.
Incredible video man!!!
here from reddit
Thank you Ali. Wonderful journey. I am very glad you did a full view of the Baja. My body is it getting old so hoping to do it on an e-fat-bike one day.
Muy buena tu aventura, me la pase genial. saludos ¡¡
Thankyou so much for all your videos. Awesome to watch.
Glad you like them!
Uploaded in 4K. Because why not. Did I miss anything?!
Your sunglasses? btw, trip very well documented and film
When will you get a gearbox touring bike?!? How often did you stop at a local restaurant?!? That would be the real reason I would travel Mexico...
When you 'ditched' spent gear, you properly disposed of it, right?!?
Awesome and very useful Ali. Hoping to do divide when travel reopens, so rides in NZ till then. Where to next for you?
Got some footage from my Tour Aotearoa ride to put out. Not sure where to go for my next big trip. Will have to see when travel restrictions ease up!
Great videos and gear choice! What's you opinion about safety and what fitness would you recommend?
I felt perfectly safe at all times in Baja. The Mexicans are full of kindness and generosity. Only place you might find trouble is the border towns, so would recommend cycling away from them before camping. I did no training but was in good shape.
General advice for Mexico is do not ride at night. If there are people looking for trouble that's when they'll appear, them & impaired drivers. Also cows like to sleep on the warm tarmac!
For the sleeping bag was that 10C or 10F? Thank you.
Oh! I didn't die!!
Good to hear the Rangers worked well for you. That's what I picked for my new Canondale Cujo bikepacking rig. I was looking for something with grip but low rolling resistance. You found they did well on the sand?
I was really happy with the rangers. Baja is brutal on tyres and I didn't have to do any major tyre repairs. They were full of cactus spines by the time I got home! Went for the 'tough' variant with the thicker sidewalls. Not many tyre manufacturers make 26+ tyres.
Sweet thanks! I had used their Vigilante and Verdict Tough downhill tires last winter as a studless setup and couldn't have liked them more. No leaks. Crazy grippy. Wore out my drivetrain before I could see wear on those tires.
What's your philosophy on pulling spines when you get them in your tires? Pull em out, cut them off or let them be and keep riding?
I also have a Garmin eTrex 20 I'm wanting to use for some cycle touring. What are your reccomendations for setting it up, navigation etc. Any tips would be appreciated.
There's not much customisation you can do with it. Just load openstreet maps for where you're going. Download the GPX file of the route and off you go! I think I have my speed and distance travelled on my navigation screen.
we immediately zone out at any bits talking about camera. Camera is a thing that you do, but the rest of us riders 99% do not even have the least interest in adding all that weight. We ride for the experience, not for aspiring to become a faux instagram poser. The rest of the inventory stuff is fine.
Grumpers. You watched the video soooo how much of a poser could he be?
