The re-bend phrase is probably my favourite part of the whole solo. The drop-out of the rhythm section accompanies it perfectly, and really gets the listener for the increase in shred. Great work!

Try the Floods solo and outro parts with a single coil and some reverb.....sounds Texas AF !!! I think playing Dime's parts clean and remembering he was from Texas really helps in figuring out his touch. Some of his parts sound like SRV licks with a metric fuck ton of gain. This was killer as usual dude!

This is how you know if you’re mastering guitar. If you can hear the notes without gain or not is a big deal. John Petrucci himself says masters of this instrument can play clean and not hide behind a wall of distortion or drive. Excellent work, master Ola.
Yeah but at the same time every finger noise or accidental bump or note gets broadcasted as loud as the intentional notes. Have to play cleanly where low to no gain hides all that. #highgainforlife
Did you play initially with hearing gain , and then took it out in "post" to have the first version ? I guess it would be really hard to just play it dry from the get go, in terms of not having the right "vibe"

this is why i play electric gitar without an amp. i don't know if this signal chain was bad or sth, that even crucial notes wasn't heard in DI section, but... that's why i practice without amp. if note is really nice heard from wood, then i'm sure i'm playing it right. and i play a really cheap guitar...
