Dude... That's an iPhone XS (or XS Max). Can't be over a few months old, and is definitely worth $1200 CAD (which is like $900 USD). Even a year old iPhone X goes for around $900 CAD on the used market.

Agree to meet at the designated places in the police parking lots in the daytime. Many will not agree to this if using fake cash.

Actually, not many cameras at police station parking lots. The best would be inside a casino. Tons of cameras everywhere at casinos and at every bloody angle.

There is absolutely nothing illegal about privately selling second hand goods, and you can't get charged with distracted driving in a parked car with the engine turned off, you are being unrealistic

I received a counterfeit $50 from a bank...I noticed it while in parking lot...I IMEADIATELY RETURNED...but the bank said they would not accept the bill...BUT they gave it to me

Common sense says to MEET AT BANK (mention you'll verify the bills) or POLICE STATION (if it's a high-ticketed item). If the person doesn't show up, you know why.

Just happened to me last week in York selling 4 pairs of Jordan shoes received $1250 in counterfeit $50s makes me sick to know that happened lost out big time..

Had a guy do it last night, they looked VERY real just missing a couple of security items. Guy was smart, he mixed in real bills and put them on top. The tip off was when I said "Nah" and his interac transfer "magically" wouldn't go through. He played the waiting game and said "Well do you want to take the money"...using the old carrot in front of the face method.

I've done lots of Kijiji sales. Always ask for phone number before arranging to meet. Perfect for cops to handle the situation like this and investigate. A phone number is enough for the cops to find an address of the person.

This year someone stole 2000 dollars worth of winter tires out of my pickup truck in a Canadian tire parking lot. I called the police, and one week later they found my tires. It didn't make the local news tho.

Or instead of checking the bills at a bank... When you are selling something to someone you don't know then you have them meet you at the police station. When that man got killed selling his truck on craigslist the police started suggesting that sellers and buyers meet where it is safe for both sides. Someone looking to scam you is not going to be willing to meet at a police station so it really is the safest bet you can make!

I always take cash at the bank and check buyer with me and everything I’ll never get scammed lol

I always say we go to the bank because I am no banker. They can count and inspect ... Funny how they always back out when you say go to the bank and does the vin match the registration? Because I am going to check.

don't phones have trackers on them so you can locate them? I'd have used that until the money was found out to be good. Then had them arrested.

Were the fake bills actually made out of polymer and not just thicket paper? If so that's troubling considering the whole point of moving to polymer was to eliminate duplication on that medium! My trick for checking these new bills has always been to try tearing them. If they tear then they're fake!
