Follow the steps below to change your password in Facebook:
1. Open the Facebook app on your iPhone or Android phone.
2. Select the menu button in the bottom right of the Facebook app.
3. Select the gear in the top right of the menu to open the Facebook settings.
4. Once in the settings select See more in Accounts Center.
5. Select Personal details.
6. Select Account ownership and control then select Deactivation or deletion.
7. Choose the Facebook account you want to deactivate.
8. Make sure Deactivate account is selected then select Continue.

So when you delete Facebook account and you still remember your password would it still be active or
I’m one step away from deleting the account. Why. I realized recently my password doesn’t work any longer. I’m being told it was changed Feb.2. I didn’t do it. Consequently I cannot reset. Especially not being able to furnish a proper “current” password. Nothing works. I can’t get Fb to send me a reset. I can’t even deactivate the account w/ out a current password. I’m miffed. Maybe I need to go to a computer w/ a hard drive or modem or something other than this here iPhone 15. So I don’t know what’s going on. Would I necessarily be aware of a hack if in fact that’s what it is? Please advise if you might have something for me. Most appreciated.

I know right? I was just saying that exact same thing earlier... I was only wanting to see my friends and family's posts not a bunch of crap that I don't want to freakin see... they say Facebook is a social media site/app but it is more about branding and marketing than social... more random business pages and corporation pages than actual social. If I wanted to be bombarded by advertisements, I would have just stuck with television and radio... or the free version of TH-cam.

Thank you for this. I was wondering if anyone knows, for some reason, my account keeps reactivating on it's own despite me deactivating it, it only lasts roughly a week or two the 'deactivation'. The only reason I find out it is reactivated is that a family member who is on Facebook all the time, tells me, Oh you are showing as active again. Is there some type of limit to how long you can deactivate I am not aware of?? Previously I have deactivated it for 5 years and in that time logged in for maybe 30 mins max once or twice a year. Then deactivate. Is this a technical glitch? I have health issues and just don't want to deal with facebook or my old profile or old memories or any of it. Why does it reactivate on it's own, and I have to keep going in and deactivating. Has anyone had this? And yes it may just force me to delete.
