haven't had the 18 yet, but have the 12. A lot of what you said about the 18 also applies to the 12, its a great bottle and reasonably priced to boot. Great review guys!
Glad you guys liked it. Nose. Honey, malt, butterscotch, dare I say honeycomb cereal Taste. Malt, malt, malt, peach, caramel, strawberry, white pepper, finishes sweet almost pear like ? water brought out some vanilla for me. If I'm looking for a nice classic scotch with no finishings or castings, this would be a nice one to reach for.
Alan, what you see is really what you get! Honestly, we are exactly the same when the camera is off. We really try to provide an opportunity for viewers to pull up a seat to the bar and enjoy a dram with us! Glad you're able to do that! ~Mark
I stay till the end. Who doesn't? Anyway, great review, I enjoyed watching while "slumming it" with my Glen Grant 16. It may be 2 years younger, but it is also half the price ($65). I appreciate the Sherry, the finishes, and the peat smoke, but sometimes there's nothing like a complex Bourbon Cask matured Scotch. Cheers! 🥃
I Stay till the end. One of the first reviews I watched of you was on the 16. I stumbled across it last year an still have it unopened. Guess I’ll have to get the 18 to compare them.
I haven't been fortunate enough to try the 16 or 18, but the regular 12 is on of my favorites in this light style... And for only $38, it's a pure steal!
Well that made my mind up! ! I didn’t find the 18 but I did find the batch strength 15 and I’m definitely picking that one ☝️ for sure.. have a great 👍 evening gents. Great review as always!
Wow the way you guys do the smellin and the tasting makes me appreciate more my whiskey and ending up drinking more 🤣🤣🤣 thanks for sharing guys Cheers!
I stay till the end always, guys! Though as you can see I don't always watch the videos right away, ha ha. I will have to try some of this. I don't remember if I had it at the whisky expo or not.
I agree. I found a bar in rapid city SD that had the 15. I think I had the first pour off the bottle, and it was half empty when I left. Soild 2+oz pours for 8 bucks🖒
I'm so jealous! We can only get the 12 and the 15 in Arkansas! Strict rules in my state! It's been 6 months waiting for old pultney 12 and 17 to get approved, and there in no hurry! Salancha 😁

Hot damn. I think the people by me saw this video and scooped up the last 2 Glen Grant 18 year bottles. They were going for $120 per bottle. Wish I got them after this review. At least the Glen Grant 15 year is available to me.
always stay to the end. And Andrew, give me all your sweet light scotch - I'm happy to take that off your bar so you have more room for peaty stuff! LOL! :)
The finest expressions of Glen Grant are matured in Sherry Casks (exclusively), much like other distilleries like Macallan, Arbelour and Glengoyne to name a few.
Ha ha ha! It was the best word I could find to describe it! I am sure that would not be on the side of the presentation tin on the description! :-)@@Scotch4Dummies
This one has kinda seduced me too. Just very good at being what it is, if that makes sense. I stay til the end to correct your grammar. "of" a giveaway. There go my chances. Cheers boys 😉
Several of you talked about the high price of this scotch, but I was actually surprised that the price wasn’t higher. I’d like to know what 18 year old bottles of scotch some of you are finding that are as good or better than this at the $130 price point. I can only think of a couple that are as good at around the same price range these days. Anything better than this at 18 years or even younger in some cases, usually costs more than $130. Hell, Glenlivet, and Glenfiddich 18 year olds are getting close to this price point these days, and I don’t think they can hold a candle to this 18 year old Glen Grant!
it sounds like Andrew is penalizing the Speysider for being a Speysider? I honestly not sure what you guys expect to pay for an 18 year old scotch these days. You guys always talk price point, but expect 18 year old scotches to cost less than $100. The spirits market has seen huge price spikes these last few years no doubt. But nowadays their are 12 year old scotches like GlenDronach that Balvenie pushing $70 and $80 dollars. I humbly suggest if your going to bring price point in it would be worthwhile to compare to other whiskies at that similar price point. Hell, Glenlivet 18 costs $129 by me. By your review that in comparing the 18 Glenlivet and the GG 18 that the GG18 is superior in quality. That I feel is a good comparison IMHO. Sure I understand something might not be worth spending x amount for you, but those equations are based on how flush you are with cash and life's other little expenses that get in the way of us buying what we want. That is pretty much different for everyone. For example, you can spend $80 for the 18 Year old Singleton of Glendullen or $160 for HP 18 (VA Prices). I hope you see what i mean. That is why I like Roys' ABCD scale as it is a great differentiation to help establish "value". Anyways the rant is over, I appreciate the honesty and the review. BTW I picked up a bottle of the GG 16 and really enjoy it. I have never gotten such a nice warm banana sweetness on the finish, and it sounds like the 18 is just as good or not better....I have a source that I found in DC that has both the 16 and the 18....hmmmm
@everwind You are fair to question whether I am penalizing it for being a Speyside. I have met many Speysides, I don’t think this one represents the area well. I am just not thrilled with this bottling. Personal preference, clearly different from Drew. I always enjoy the discussion. ~Andrew
@@Scotch4Dummies Thanks for responding Andrew, but I have always characterized Speysiders as producing sweet whiskies, with mellow notes and fruity flavors. I would say the Glen Grant 16 I have ,and by the S4D review you put out, that is exactly what it is and it sounds like it does it extremely well. It's cool if you don't like the Speysider style of whisky, and by all means group think can be dangerous, and it is admirable that you are not influenced by the others. I think independence is great! So for fun, I would humbly suggest that at some point you gentlemen discuss and share what makes a whisky a 4 or 3 etc. I am sure it is different for each of you. It would help the viewer understand where you are coming from. For example, I value in importance: finish (length), complimentary complexity, warmth without burn (often associated with the finish), "richness" depth of flavors (sherry, malt, dark fruits, nuts), and sweetness. Since I have terrible allergies, nose means very little to me, and color I care less about. While in general I like sweet, there is a limit, that is why I am not a big fan of many Bourbons as they can often be cloyingly sweet. I consider cost in all purchases, but that really is different for everyone because everyone has different resources. That is why I try to compare whiskies against its peers ( by age/region/style. For example the Dalmore 18 costs by me $279, the Glenmorangie 18 cost $100 and the Glen Grant 18 and Bunna 18 cost about $140. In comparison and based upon my budget, I would buy the Bunna 18 first, then the GG 18. The Glenmo 18 I have had and completely disappointed me, and the Dalmore 18 seems out of my price range. It would really have to be super fantastic for me to even consider it. Party on Andrew!
Glen Grant 18 is the best Speyside whiskey I had so far. I have had Glendronach 18, Glenlivet 12, 15, 18 and Glenfiddich 12 and 18. GG 18 is the best in my opinion.

Got a independent bottling Glen Grant 22 cask strength in November. Fantastic really loving independent bottlings as it was $40 less than this. Cheers
