My husband is Scandinavian, im afrolatina and we deal with the same obstacles when it comes to racism. But its been almost two decades and we are still happily married with two beautiful sons and I couldn't have chosen a better person to be by my side. My husband who is white kept asking me out on dates to the movies, coffee whatever but I kept saying no. Then one day I finally say yes to the movies and we have been together and married 18 years with 3 kiddos! So glad I stepped outside my conform zone, yes we've had nasty stares and comments early on from both races but I didn't care and still don't. My husband jokingly
tells our kids that mommy was stalking me so bad I just gave in. I just laugh and shake my head because we both know the truth...lol
Both sides? Well our African men hate to see the caucasian man with the sisters but they dog after the other men women. The caucasian women too hate to see their men with the sisters with theirs either but jump to the African. I don't get that. I dated à caucasian man in my younger days and boy I got those hate stares from our brothers, it was a Joy for me. This guy did his best to try to get me comfortable. But his mom didn't like me and thought he should be with his own kind. So we broke up, I couldn't be connected to that behavior for life. Now I am happily married to an African brother. Comfy with his family, and I am cool with not having to try to be super careful all the time. But Girl live ya life!

They had very interesting names for me. And my boyfriend also shielded me from a couple racist members of his family. Eventually I just stopped taking it personally and felt sorry for them for being so close minded.
