Are basting stitches on a machine different from the ones done by hand? I've looked up basting stitches on machine and it seems like there is no gap/ space between the stitches.
Yes, you are right, there will be no gap on the sewing machine, since the machine is used to sew the upper and lower threads. And the stitch length on a sewing machine is short and a little harder to remove. This stitch is best used for gathering fabric (pulling the bobbin thread). And temporary seams are best basted by hand😊
