    A classic. I have one, had the chokes taken out to half and 5/8 , such a quality piece. Best of that era

    Another great review Matt. I remember when I bought my first Winchester 101 when Edgar bros had the Winchester agency in Macclesfield but not where they are now. The quality of these guns was unsurpassed at the time.

    Hi Matt
    From my personal experience, the Japanese made Browning guns are a mile ahead in build quality & reliability compared to now.
    Enjoyed watching you present that exceptional Winchester.

    It is truly a shame the US received only a very few of the 5500 to 8500 series shotguns. I do not believe it would have prolonged the rocky Olin-Kodensha relationship but it would have highlighted the fact that Browning and Beretta were not the only driving influences in our market. Ah yes, the venerable Winchester "hard" case. Word to the wise, do not let it get wet... Don't ask me how I know! 😪 Great video and you may want to keep that one!

      Thank you for your comment, I am pleased that you enjoyed the video. How on earth did your Winchester case manage to get wet as it never rains in the US? Kind regards, Matthew

      @@eastfieldgunroom Never rains?! 🤣 I must admit we don't see much rain this time of year because we are all hiding from tornadoes. The Winchester case died as a result of catastrophic water heater failure. Floor flooded... case on the floor... 101 Diamond grade high and dry in the safe... 101 eventually sold sans case.

    I have 28 inch 6500 field model
    No where on the barrel is the made in Japan also BP 900 kg
    Fixed trigger and fixed choke
    How do you date them

    • @eastfieldgunroom
      @eastfieldgunroom  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your comment. I believe that the field model was the 6000 and the 6500 the competition gun. Many of the guns are proofed at 900kg although I am unsure why. One can only assume it depends on where the guns were imported through. The 5500 that I own and from memory all of the 6500's that have been through my hands have made in Japan stamped on the barrel so yours not having it is a little strange. In terms of dating the gun it depends which UK proof house it was proofed in. The gun will certainly be around 1987-88 though. Kind regards, Matthew

    Are you allowed to share the history of this gun? It looks as if it has never or very rarely been used. Was it a second or reserve gun? Or was it given as a “prize” to the owner who decided to keep it rather than sell?

    • @eastfieldgunroom
      @eastfieldgunroom  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately I cannot tell you a great deal about the history of this 6500. I picked it up whilst poking around at a gunshop up North and had to have it. As you said though the gun has literally not been used. Kind regards, Matthew
