    May I ask how you remove the blue click from the frame?

    Can you use the Curt Bluetooth brake controller with this??

    To remove the gray protective cap on the grey housing so you can plug in the wiring harness, you have to detach this grey housing (with its protective cap) from the blue clip attaching it to the frame of the vehicle. (The blue clip stays attached to the vehicle.) To do this, gentle and only a little, pivot the grey housing plug on the blue tab counterclockwise (ie down) so you can get a finger between the grey housing plug and the frame. You will feel a little tab, which is part of the blue clip. Push it toward the frame and the grey housing plug will be able to slide off. Once you do that, you can slide the grey protective cap off by depressing the tab. Plug in the wiring harness male end into the grey receptacle on the vehicle and then slide the whole thing back on the blue clip. I only figured this out after I horsed off the cap first (took about 25 minutes), and saw that I couldn't put the new one on because the blue clip was in the way of the slot at the top.

      Thanks for explaining this, after about 10 minutes I knew I better check the comments on this blue clip before I ended up breaking something. Lol

    Dan, for the 2013 Honda Pilot, what type of hitch do you use for that trailer? 2in drop?

  • @admissionsaaron

    Did the screws/nuts come with the harness?

    Thank you for adding the Amazon link for the wiring harness featured in the video!
    By the way, are you pulling a Camper with your Pilot or just that flatbed trailer?
    And how much does it weigh?

    • @TheAverageDan
      @TheAverageDan  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its actually my sister-in-law's Pilot and with a tow capacity around 3,500 pounds it might be tough to pull anything bigger than a pop-up. They added to tow a flatbed trailer to camp. I tow our 2014 Jayco White Hawk with a Nissan Armada which has a 9,000 lbs tow capacity

    The 4 nuts/bolts/washers are not included with the Tekonsha kit, what size did you use?

    Great video. I just looked at an AWD 2013 Honda pilot today at a used car lot. It has a hitch but no electrical plug for the trailer. I also noticed it does not have a transmission cooler. Is your Pilot able to tow a 4000 pound load OK without a transmission cooler? Thanks again.

    Does the harness also handle the trailer brakes?

    • @TheAverageDan
      @TheAverageDan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The harness connects the wiring for the brake controller. The brake controller is a separate unit

    • @njlauren
      @njlauren 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheAverageDan yep the brake controller installs on the driver side footwell,there is a plug there the controller car plugs into.

    Helpful video thanks. This is a 7 pin correct? When is a 7 to 4 pin adapter necessary?
    Thanks.

    • @TheAverageDan
      @TheAverageDan  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks! I hope you'll subscribe to support future helpful videos! You would use a 7 to 4 pin adapter if you were towing a trailer that only had a 4 pin connection.... like a standard utility/flatbed trailer. Your 4 pin is used when you only have lights to deal with. The 7 pin also provides power to the trailer/camper's brakes

    This is the kit for that comes with the brake connector right?

    • @TheAverageDan
      @TheAverageDan  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This kit all came together. Are you referring to a brake controller? This did not come with a brake controller but you can buy it separately

      @@TheAverageDan thanks, I figured it out. That one part is a fuse connector. But all worked out. I bought that same one. Thanks allot for the video
