The Pilot handles surprising well when it comes to towing. I've been towing a 3500lb travel trailer for the last tow years with my pilot. One thing I would recommend is getting some way to monitor the transmission temp, like a Scan Gauge II. I've seen transmission temperatures as high as 220°F, even with an ATF cooler installed. Granted I am usually towing through high elevation mountain passes but it never hurts to keep an eye on it.
Can we get a 1 year update on how the car is doing? Any issues with the trans at all since you’re close to max towing weight? I tow with my wife’s 2022 Pilot, I did add the trans cooler, and so far all has been well.
I thought to myself "Dang Refined Movement hasn't been on my subscription listing in a long time, I wonder if they still make videos?" and BAM a new video!
Just threw in the same harness on our pilot. There’s a round rubber grommet right next to the jack you pulled out. Remove the geometric and You can run the harness down that hole and tie wrap it in place. No need to hang it through the bottom of the door. Enjoy it my man.
Glad to see you back my fellow D series driver! Nice Honda collection, how is that 2018 Fit? I hear they make good track cars and have as much cargo capacity as an HRV! I'm kinda eyeing one as upgrade from my 2000 Acura EL.
I would love to make the Fit a dedicated track car. Not the one we have because it’s automatic but a manual newer generation Fit with a nice suspension, wheels and tires would be awesome. They handle very direct, fun to drive
For the endurance race we ran the big track where they added the longest straight so it bumped up the times to 1:15’s 1:14’s but during the league we are usually 1:06’s
Did you get the optional trans cooler? You have the 9spd which is more stout then the 6spd(that are having overheating issues without even towing)but I’d recommend grabbing it for insurance just in case
Nice video - I have a 16 Pilot AWD with 6 speed that I want to use to tow with (hitch, wiring, and cooler installed by me), but came up with some different numbers on weights than you did. I saw on U-Haul's site that the car transport weights 2210 pounds. Does your Civic really only weigh about 1300 pounds? I know its race stripped, but I didn't realize it was down that much from a factory weight of roughly 2100 pounds?
I had the same question. Those U-Hauls are seriously overbuilt but they are about the only company renting them near me. I've also heard it is advisable to only tow 80% of the rated weight as a safety margin. So that is only 4000# if rated at 5000.
CONGRATS! careful tho, pilot/ridgelines arent great for towing. i worked for honda service for 2 years, we always advised against towing cars lol. 3500 lbs, you gotta think about the weight of the occupants, things you have loaded up, as well as the tongue weight. you might be exceeding and stressing it out. BUT I DO WANT ONE! haha
Thanks for your input man! Yeah, I can understand what you're saying with it being at the weight limit. I guess in my own mind I'm ok with it cause the trips aren't more than a couple hours and I'll only be towing with it a handful of times a year. That's what I'll keep telling myself! lol Yeah, great car overall though!
@@RefineMovement forsure. But I've also heard that honda rated it down on purpose. Who knows? I've seen people tow 10k no problem, but I wouldn't try it hahaha.

Always looking forward to an upload from you guys. Refinemovement and Garage Built Hondas are my 2 favorite Honda TH-cam channels.
Been wondering what you’ve been up to. Glad to see an upload.
Thanks man, glad to have you around
Another Honda to the collection nice,
I have a 2016 Pilot and I love it!! Hey that dinner looked really good!!!
Congratulations on the two newest additions to your family!
It’s always cool to see how the same brand towing SUV or Truck is the same brand as the racecar. 💯

Congrats on the future addition(s) to the family.

How do the Continental wear? In AZ they are pealing for me...I don't know if they store them a certain way in AZ where it looks like they dry rott?
The match! (white paint/black wheels)...nice!!
I’m happy to see you kept the Fit, congrats on the new tow…family rig
Yeah man, I really like the Fit. Cool little car with a ton of room for its size, fun to drive and great mpg

Hey bro is cool good video I did the job but question ?? What happened if I forget to disconnect the battery I mean a negative!! ???
Don’t tempt me! I’ve been looking at the Pilot to potentially tow my FRS around. Looks very capable 🔑
Another baby!?!? Congrats 👏 missed you bro.
I was just looking at y’all channel the other day wondering when the next time you were going to upload….

@@RefineMovement How do you think it would compare to your EG? I haven't compared stats but HP must be similar, don't know about weight.
God bless you and you family bro
Can you tell me what times you got there? I go a lot to OKC to race. Greetings..!

Yeah it's a great point. No, I don't have the trans cooler on it
Those honda pilot as nice. Going to trade in my pos 2021 ford explorer for one
7:10 This is how I’d park a towing car with a trailer. People in FL are so nice. Don’t they complain?! 😅

The pilots tow capacity is 5,000 lbs
Wheres the ek?
Still got it!
@@RefineMovement nice!!!☺️
Willing to part ways with those 949’s?
No sir, I do really like them! They stopped making this version from what I hear
@@RefineMovement yes extremely hard to find these days lol congrats btw on the new baby and pilot!

I would suggest backing the EG on to take a little weight off the tongue and not squat the Pilot as much.
Yo yo yo a new video let’s goooo son!!!! Oh yeah we back hahaha

Your fucking that thing up towing with that.but you like learning the hard way all the time anyway.
