    You don't give yourself enough credit, those little set pieces are so cute! I may not know a whole lot about 3d modeling, but I think you did great! I'm sure it took you hours just to make these little pieces, but it adds so much more charm to the final product😊

    "If this is vintage, then I am ancient." I felt that deep in my soul. 😂 A friend I recently reconnected with from almost 20 yrs ago said to me the other night, "You ever feel weird that people our age and younger have kids by now? I don't feel that old!" We're both childless and don't plan on having kids, but we could definitely agree that we don't feel anywhere as old as we're supposed to, mentally anyway. 😅 I'm happy with my role as the cool auntie: play buddy, provider of sound advice, explainer of difficult concepts, and confidant.
    I'm happy with just my fur babies. I told my parents years ago, after one of my nieces was born, that grandcats is probably all they should expect from me. 😂
    I've come to the conclusion that adults are just kids in bigger bodies and with more life experience and (usually) better judgment. I still have times when I think, "I need an adult!" Then I realize...I AM the adult! 😱

    Awesome video! If you cant restore the overdone Polly Pocket case then you can always customise the Case. Like a room in a museum with a mummified Polly being studied by Egyptologist Polly etc
    Edited because something went wrong.

    I love the 3D printer because it actually prints pretty cleanly. Bit of a pet peeve of mine is when people just get a cheap 3D printer and sell prints (of models that usually don't even belong to them n the first place) and just sell the raw product with tons of these lines, not even bothering to sand them a bit. I know that's the difference between filament vs resin printing but idk, I personally wouldn't sell something that looks so unfinished and I'm also not compelled to pay for something like that either. Your miniatures look great even without the sanding honestly!

    My older sister had a couple of these old polly pocket sets! I loved playing with them and all their tiny pieces! I'm so nostalgic for these kinds of things.
    Also those tiny models you made for the accessories are brilliant! I learned a thing or two about 3D modeling on the computer when I was in college and I did NOT have the patience for it. Kudos for doing such a great job, because they fit in the set perfectly! The first retrobright job may have been a bust for now, but don't let it discourage you too much. The final product is amazing and I can't wait to see what you do with the first one. 😊

    I think you did really impressively with the blender designing tbh! It seems like the kind of thing you could fiddle about with for hours and have a hard time making into a cohesive piece, so the fact you ended up with such cute little stuff is impressive in and of itself.

      Same here...😅 Late eighties for me, but it's difficult because I don't *feel* old. At least not mentally...I have fibromyalgia and other chronic pain conditions, so my body has felt old since childhood...
      When I realize that kids born in the new millennium are already legal adults I definitely feel my age! 😂

    You did good in blender tbh, i know it's hard to praise ourselves haha, but you did great. It was mostly primitives too, and looks like they printed amazing and without issues! So perfect for the job intended!
    It be interesting to see what you would do with sculpting in blender one day. Gotta say, its def better with tablet with pen pressure tho, for more delicate details. Anyway! Thanks for sharing your process, I'm a huge fan of your videos, and though you can be very hard on yourself, I find that relatable and a bit comforting! And you always give a lot of details about supplies and processes, so we get to learn new things! Cheers with your upcoming projects!

    Adding onto the vintage thing; I went to Gamestop, Target, Walmart, and a ton of other places looking for DS games and they all told me the same thing: DS related things are considered vintage now. It just so happens that a DS is the only gaming console I have entirely to myself.

    Wow, this is such a great video! I love seeing people 3D sculpt, I desperately wish I had that 3D printer- I have a project I'm going to try and get printed at my local library, but they just have a standard PLA which I think is not as neat as resin prints and can't be as tiny.
    I can't wait to see what you decide to do with the other polly pocket case, if anything! Its a great opportunity to make like a custom. This might be a silly idea but the first thing that jumped into my mind was a stadium... a pokemon stadium. I mean, Polly Pocketmon, am I right?! Anyways, congrats on the patreon, all I can do for support is like and comment on the video but good luck with it

    • @Just1Nora
      @Just1Nora 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your library has a 3D printer?! That's amazing! Is it free?
      One idea is to get something printed in PLA, sand it well, coat it in a thin layer of resin to really make it smooth, then cast it in silicone. If it's a hollow piece then you can cast both the outside and inside for a two part mold that shouldn't use much two part resin to make. The casting silicone is the only really pricey item.
      If you have the money and plan to sell items (more cost effective if you make a bunch) there are printing and casting companies that you can send a file or item to and they will print it or make a mold for you. I majored in jewelry & metals in college and we were able to do lost wax casting in studio, and had a business nearby that could print wax or plastic models for us (my profs husband worked there, so we got special permission to do some small things for our 3D modeling class), but I don't have access to the equipment anymore, so I've considered sending things out for casting or printing, or I did years ago...
      You might also look for resin printing groups in your area, and perhaps someone who owns a resin printer could print things for you for a small fee. Those resin printers are so heckin expensive! If you're not mass producing printed items then the cost outweighs the benefits IMHO.

      @art-eroflore 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Just1Nora Some libraries near where I am have services like this, not just mine, and mines even relatively small and has a lab with a cricut machine, dremel, and 3D printer and sometimes does classes. I believe you just have to pay for the materials.
      I've been following someone called Robert Tolone on youtube and it's made me want to do siliconemold-resin casting, and I even have some materials for making simple flat-backed molds.
      Unfortunately I do not have very much money to put towards the hobby of resin printing or casting. The project I'm working on is a recreation of the 1980s Takara Brand My Little Ponys (the standing up ones, as opposed to the baby fakies which are typically found on the market- Retrogeek crafts did a video restoring a fakie a while ago, so it looks similar to that but with moveable arms); if I were trying to go for as close to realistic as possible (ie like the original 1980s, which would have been some sort of vinyl) the closest i could probably get is some sort of silicone or "squishy resin" like shown on the channel Maqaroon- I would have to 3D print it, sand/finish, mold, and cast it- but the only way to make it look professional would be if i had the equipment to do that properly. As is, I'm just making the doll into a ball-jointed takara doll (the original vinyl ones joints probably relied on the flexibility of the vinyl to keep them in place) and try to have her 3D printed. Some people on tumblr and MLPTP who have printers have expressed interest in testing it for me at, at least, so before i get it printed at the library I might have some more confirmation of how it's printed. Since the design of the Takara pony's isnt mine, it wouldn't feel right to sell them even if I knew how to cast such a complex piece.

    Great video! I usually apply perioxide cream to Polly Pockets, like you do with ponies. But the results can come out blotchy and over exposed, if you're not super careful. I wonder, was the paper inside the Polly alright after it was submerged in the liquid? Promising method!

  • @rociolunar8

      The important active agent is actually the peroxide. It attacks the yellowed layer chemically, leaving the plastic less elastic, a few microns thinner, and without the yellowed material. Any plastic that can be repaired like this can also begin yellowing over time again, but you can repeat the process... not indefinitely, since the yellowing to begin with eats microscopically at the plastic and the peroxide/uv is doing the same, but more often than you'd expect.
