Excellent work on that jeep. Us old Nam vets are restoring a Willy's jeep here and when we got it we wondered why I kept hearing it took guys years to restore one? Then we began. My God we soon learned its not just the labor. You don't go to your local Napa and pick up parts 'LOL.' For those planning a repo like the nice one here just keep repeating 'Time, labor, money, find the parts' 😀

Hi guys love this site I have a 1943 Ford GPW I believe this Jeep came to Australia during WW2 and was based inTownsville Queensland with the U.S Marines Military Police Base Section 3 I think it was a stockade. It has matching engine and chassis numbers and restored prior to me being the new owner I have added most all accessories that it would have had during its time of service , I will select some photos to post to this site if anyone interested to see best wishes to all regards Bill Hadden Down Under

      ....I own a "script" one, "dod": 7-Jul-'42. With 92% "F" bolts/Originals(NO/replicas), and nearly all parts mkd "F"/Originals (less: 1 glass+ gen.tor+starter=Willys), since 1985, till 2020: when I found front bumper ("F" inside-embossed=very rare in Italia). Also a "WV" Typ82:
"born" 10 Aug.'43/owned since Aug.1987), also with ALL original parts, included bolts mkd "KZ"("!!!")=90%+ 10%="Verbus", and all can
vas: rebuilt with original materials. These "2-toys" did cost me: the price of a good Maserati and the marriage.
      I do not repeant about

An interesting fact that I found out is that a lot of guys who had a surplus Jeep and needed parts, tried to use commercial replacements. Guess what, those parts didn't fit. Either they were too long or too short oe the ring gears had different tooth counts.

Nice jeep. I see you've added a spacer behind the fan to place it closer to the radiator core. I have a Willys jeep with the fan quite far back from the shroud. I also have a late war GPW from the Dallas plant which, like yours, has the tub overhanging the rear crossmember by about 3/8".Did you fill in the holes for the snaps for the canvas side 'doors'? I couldn't see them. Maybe they are there.
