Let me help you. I am an 86 year classically trained singer with a four octave range and,
when I first heard Dimash I was blown away!! I have never heard a male voice with a six
octave range in my life! The back story on Dimash is fascinating. He is a first born son
in Kazakhstan and, in their culture, the first born son is raised by the grandmother. His mother
is an opera singer and his father is a well known singer. Because he showed he loved music
from an early age, his grandmother had him classically trained from the age of five (5).
The world first heard of him in approximately 2017.
SOS was written in 1978 by a Frenchman named Michael Berger and, the song was an omage
to a young friend with a wide range that passed away. It was deliberately written with a range
that most singers could not reach. It was written in French and a perfect song for Dimash.

None of us have EVER gotten over that. This was the first song I ever heard him sing and so I seek out anyone seeing him for the first time singing THIS song. I have never heard someone with the range he has, the delicate higher register and the powerful chest voice. It truly is a testament to what the human voice is capable of. Loved your reaction.

- Dimash Kudaibergen was born in Aktobe, Kazakhstan, on May 24, 1994.
- Dimash has an excellent education: he graduated from the College of Music with a degree in Opera Singing, university of arts in the specialty "Estrada and jazz vocals", and on June 18, 2020, he completed a master's degree in Composition.
- Sings in genres: pop, rock, classics, crossover (neo-classics), folklore, rap, jazz.
- Singer, composer (wrote music for 10 songs), multi-instrumentalist (dombra, piano, percussion, guitar).
- Has a range of six octaves and one note.
- Notes - A1 (Love Like a Dream), from C2 to D8 (Unforgettable Day) - from baritone to soprano.

I tell you a little, I discovered Dimash at the same time that he was on The singer in China by chance because he was following the program. I never felt for any musician or singer what I feel for him. I am 52 years old, I like many styles of music from AC / DC (I was in River when they came), opera, classical music, tango, etc. but with him he is incredible, so I understand you. He puts a lot of passion into his performance, he tells you a story in each song.
If you have possibilities, I recommend you look at his reports, you will discover a very humble being, with his feet on the ground. He does not believe himself a star, he knows that he has a gift but he does not stay with that, he is super professional that is why he always continues to study and exercise with his teachers.
He is super grateful to his family and to all those who once taught him, and says that he is simply the result of their hard work and effort and dedication.
He is very proud to be a Kazakh and his dream is to spread the music of the great Kazakh composers throughout the world. That your audience unite in the language of music without thinking about borders, cultural, political, etc. To a certain extent, he succeeded because his concerts show people from different parts of the world, of different ages singing in languages that are not their own (Kazakh, Chinese, English, Russian, Italian, etc.). He is also interested in music from other cultures.

I am 66 and like you I have never ever felt about a singer, can’t call him a singer, vocal artist, like I do about Dimash. I had no teqchnical knowledge of vocals but I only had to hear one verse to know Dimash is totally unique and touched my heart and soul. I found him by accident while watching ice skating about 4 months ago. No idea why i clicked on his song but I was dimashified in an instant and totally addicted. Every spare minute I have is taken up with Dimash. I have watched every vocal coach and voice analyst I can find to understand what he does and why he is so mind blowing. And of course everything I can about the beautiful person he is. Oh for a son who loves his mother like Dimash

I was absolutely stunned the first time I heard Dimash sing, and it was this very song. I honestly don't think there is any singer that is anywhere near the same caliber as Dimash. I can't wait to hear more from him.

About 141 all incredible songs to go. We are dears, and we are millions, all over the world. Everybody should have the chance to listen to him, but you see, many do not know what real singing is. Thank you ! Also Dimash is an incredible human being, much more than just a singer/ performer. He is a man of principles, and did not choose for a contract with a record company. That is why he is not played on radio or seen on TV. But he is a free person this way ! Love it, although I would love him to be known more in the west.

This was 3 years ago, he was just 22; and he had no fans there because nobody knew him before this performance. The audience (who were also the judges, all ppl related to the music industry) was just giving a warm welcome to a foreign boy who was about to compete with proffesional known singers, all older than him and with solid fan bases. In the backstage footage you can see that he was extremely nervous. Yet, by the way he completely commanded the stage, you wouldn't say.
I'll give my 2 cents on the interpretation; it was sublime and very moving, in my first contact with Dimash that was also through this performance, he had me crying and sobbing less than a minute after he started singing. The otherworldy vocals+ the lyrics just hit me like a wrecking ball. Some ppl say the song is about the thoughts of someone considering suicide; it's indeed an existential type of song, anybody who at least once has felt that he can't find a place in the world, would know what is it about.
There is no one like Dimash, he is in a league of his own.
If you want to hear his version of a known song, try Hello by Lionel Richie ( th-cam.com/video/nmyWxEm0xLk/w-d-xo.html) . His English is not the best (his French wasn't either, it improved in later performances, but once his voice gets you, you couldn't care less)
If your dad used to be a trained opera singer, he might enjoy "Olimpico" aka "Ogni Pietra" (th-cam.com/video/raBHw-zOT5s/w-d-xo.html), it's a modern aria composed for Dimash where he uses his tenor-baritone, his "contralto" and his "soprano" voices; the lyrics is in Italian, and his Italian is perfect.
Or you can try his duet with soprano Aida Garifulina in the modern aria Ullise (th-cam.com/video/18li0andhmU/w-d-xo.html). By the way, he was offered a position in the Astana Opera, but declined, choosing to follow his own path.

Dancer, model, multi-instrumentalist, rapper, opera and all genres and registers singer, an incredible stage presence, emotional interpretations, impossible low and whistle vocal range, beauty, humility, child prodigy, extremely crystal clear and unique voice, genius...this is Dimash Kudaibergen. We have lost count of how many Dimash fan clubs there are in the world and of how many awards and acknowledgments were conferred on him also by the president of Kazakhstan for giving impetus to musical culture. Each one of his performances is a masterpiece, an incredible experience. We all love him infinitely!

SOS is how it started for most fans and reactors. (He was fairly unknown before that first performance on Singer 2017 in China.) Welcome on board the Dimash space shuttle! You will soon love everything he does and crave for more. 💕🇫🇮
I haven't heard anyone else like him either. I think it's safe to say no one has. Trust me, you'll really exhaust the adjectives for Dimash. This is just the beginning, you have a lot more to see of him. He was 22 in this performance, he's 26 now, from Kazakhstan, speaks Kazakh and Russian natively, working on his English too over this last 3 years, but he sings in many languages. He's classically trained, but later on, he studied contemporary music also and he took his MA degree in composition this year too. He also combines these with Kazakh folk. His control of all of his registers, all these genres and textures is insane. He also plays a few instruments. This was the first performance I saw of him, back in 2017 and he keeps surprising me even now, he keeps improving as a singer and as an artist, I haven't seen this amount of skills in any other singer. You haven't seen his low range, and whistle, and Eastern technique, and many other things yet. Your dad would appreciate Ogni Pietra very much, I think. I also recommend Sinful Passion too, this one is a cover, but he makes the covers his. If you want to check him more or less chronologically, the next would be Opera 2, the second performance within this Chinese show, but then you'll have plenty of other songs to check before getting to the two above.
You'll see what a great man he is, not only a phenomenal artist and singer, he's more than vocal gymnastics and range. He calls his fans Dears (we're praising him a lot, but you'll understand more and more why), and we'll guide you on this beautiful journey. There's so much to say about him, but I've said enough for now, and the comment section is full of information already.

Dimash has the widest vocal range of any male singer in recorded history - and the best thing is that he knows how to make the best use of its beauty. He is on a level all of his own.
Get your dad to listen with you to Ogni Pietra, a modern-day cantata written for him especially by the Russian maestro Igor Krutoy, who came out of semi retirement to help Dimash launch his career to a far wider audience than he was getting three years ago. All of Krutoy’s songs and compositions are gorgeously lyrical, constructed superbly. The two of them together make music magic! Ogni Pietra was as I said, a cantata written specifically for the various ranges of Dimash’s voice. Dimash presented it at the opening ceremonies of the second European Olympics last summer. Of course, Dimash sings all the voices that a regular cantata requires - basso, baritone, tenor, mezzo- soprano, soprano and even rising to coloratura.
But then - just about all of Dimash performances are a pleasure to see and hear!
I'm sure you know Show Must Go On by Queen. Well, Dimash sang it on episode 3 on Singer 2017. Dimash didn't speak English then and learnt it phonetically. It's another dimension really.....you couldn't even begin to imagine.....

Dear Adam (Dimash calls his fans "Dears"). Your first reaction was much like mine, when I watched this same video three and a half years ago. I was addicted immediately. Addiction that I have no desire to leave behind. -- I could tell you so much about this song and Dimash, but I limit myself to just a few remarks. In 2017 Dimash was invited to participate in the Chinese Hunan Television yearly competition, Singer. He was 22 then and the youngest participant (you saw the other participants briefly.) He was assigned to be the first to sing. And did he sing! You saw the enthusiastic responses of his fellow contestants and the audience (500 people who acted as the judges). This is originally a French song, made famous in French by Grigori Lemarchal (who died at the age of 23 of cystic fibrosis.) The lyrics are the last thoughts, aspirations and memories of a dying man, except for the last line "Dodo l'enfant do," which are the words of the celestial beings who are to escort the by-now dead man to life everlasting. -- There are many tragedies attached to "Le S.O.S. d'un terrien en détresse," some even personal to Dimash. Yet, I don't go into those now.
Dimash is simply the best singer in the world and many consider him an alien and that has to be studied by NASA .. laughs.
He is a simple, humble boy, loves and honors his parents, his country. She sings in 10 languages, plays 7 instruments: piano, guitar, dombra, drums, cello, etc ... and exhales music through her eyes, hands, her entire body is music. In an interview did he say? if you open my head there you will find music, if you open my heart there you will find music. La de este chico está buena, peeeero fijate la de Matthew, de Boostd Reviews... las de él son las mejores reacciones que he visto de Dimash. Analiza cada cosa; técnica vocal, postura, light elements, hand movements, TODO, al tiempo que le explota la cabeza 🤣. Pausa el video a cada rato, pero para los que ya hemos visto mil veces los videos de Dimash, y buscamos buenas reacciones, eso no incomoda. I've watched this several times - out of all the intitial reactions to Dimash that I've watched, yours is my favorite.

Adelin Dio I’m so happy for the dears that get to be with Dimash even for just a few moments But I feel sorry in the sweetest way possible for him who is overwhelmed by it, maybe just a little apprehensive that some crazy dear is out there that could do him harm even unintentionally. The Beatles used to have their hair pulled out by their fans and sometimes their jackets pulled off as Momentos for that fan. Some of us can get carried away and lose control. Over time they have adjusted the fans and how and where they can meet him and that is certainly a good thing for Dimash and his entourage that is usually accompanying him. I know 99.99% of the fans that meet him in airports would not dream of hurting him and he is such a great guy for letting them know the airport and time of his arrival. However that takes place, I certainly do not know. But I have seen dozens and dozens of airport departures and arrivals, and understand fully what’s going on in the fans minds and in the mind and heart of Dimash.

Hey Adam, you have to admit, TH-cam is certainly broadening our appreciation of what the human voice is capable of. 10-15 years ago we would have been so limited in what we would have heard, just the stuff that the BBC and a few radio stations thought would make them a few bob. Nothing like what we can see and hear today.
Dimash is a storyteller, as well. As you see more and more of him, you will be amazed and never bored with each new performance. He can sing any and every genre and many languages! Please do more! If you want to listen to songs by Dimash that you might be familiar with I would suggest 'All By Myself' (Celine Dion cover), 'Hello' by Lional Ritchie, 'The Show Must Go On' by Queen or 'Adagio' if you are familiar with Lara Fabian's famous cover of it. Also, Dimash is operatically trained, as well as in other genres and he mixes them together into a style he calls Pop-Opera (Popra) or Neo-Classical. Great reaction.
Ah, but Lara Fabian's Adagio is not exactly a cover. She wrote the lyrics, the melody is based on a piece by Albinoni, later revealed to be a more modern composition.

Dimash is a 26 year, 191cm (6'3") tall, old singer/songerwriter/multi instrumentalist from Kazakhstan. Located close to China & Russia. He speaks in 3 languages, sings in more than 12, and plays many instruments from piano to dombra. He's been singing since the age of 5. His parents are both musicians. His dad is a lyricist and his mom sings opera. He also is a very active young man and plays many sports. He has been known to enjoy swimming and has learned some of his breathing techniques from that. He rose to popularity because of the performance of SOS on the show 'The Singer', a chinese show, back in 2017. The performance you reacted to. Unfortunately you can't see how many views he has but that performance has over 1 billion views on various video platforms in China. He was the only non-Chinese competitor on the show and was put in as a wildcard even through the show had professional artists. His life basically changed overnight. He currently hold a degrees in vocals and has his master's in music composition. Dimash also has a 6 octave range, getting closer to 7 now a days. Honestly the range isn't really what sets him apart as the world's best vocalist in my opinion. He's extremely versatile. He sings songs in all different genres/styles, sings with so much passion, and has unbelievable stage presence. Dimash calls his fans Dears because they are dear to his heart and if you continue this Dimash journey, I'm positive you will become one too :).
As far as to what to listen to next, he sings pretty much all genres. He incorporates many different styles (mostly classical) into different songs or covers. A lot of superfans would suggest you watch the "evolution" of him from all his performances on The Singer series in China in 2017. I don't care about that personally so I would suggest something more modern for you like "Across Endless Dimensions". Hi Adam, That was an Awesome reaction. Like a lot of others its three years since I started following him, just after this competition finished, this was Singer 2017 same show as JJ was on but Jessie was on in 2018. This was ep 1 and he was invited as the wildcard totally unknown to the producers and the Chinese audience, also he was the youngest ever to appear on Singer at then 22yrs old. His fellow competitors (who you said must be his fans) had not even seen him rehearse so their reaction to this performance was just like yours was !! He started studying music and singing lessons when he was 41/2 yrs old, so we now hear a voice thats been honed over 20 yrs. he studied opera and was in fact offered a place at the Kazakh opera when he graduated but declined to concentrate on what he calls his popera. He doesn't really fit into any specific genre and if you follow his Singer journey you will see quite a mix of styles, of course in the three years since he has achieved hundreds of phenomenal performances and huge worldwide solo concerts. Is this what you call vocal gymnastic? His vocal range and control is insane. I wonder if all his performances are the «same» in the way that he starts low and then upwards to a voice that can crush glass. Does he write his own music or does he only sing covers?
Some of his most popular songs are considered vocal gymnastic. He sings his own song which are mostly upbeat pop or kind of ballad on his 3 hours solo concerts as vocal rest. If you like Aurora or AJ and would love to see emotional songs, Dimash is most likely not for you. His songs are mostly roller coaster with crazy vocal dynamics.

He does compose, sings some covers and works with some of the world's top composers. This was the start of his international career and it's a competition so he has to impress with some gymnastics. SOS is a French song first performed in the 70's, and is quite famous in the French-speaking world. A quick search on TH-cam will turn up different versions of the song performed by French singers.
Classical opera has parts for singers. For males, it's basso profundo, baritone, tenor and countertenor. These vocal registers exist because they match what singers could do. Composers wrote for singers with these limitations in mind.
No-one ever composed a part for a singer like Dimash. There *were* no singers like Dimash. This is probably the reason he declined to pursue a career in opera. He would have been given parts that ignored his capabilities.
Igor Krutoy is a classical and pop composer of considerable fame in Russia, Eastern Europe and Asia. He has done what no composer before him could do: written songs for a singer who is competent in three ranges (baritone, tenor, countertenor) plus has mastery over the whistle voice register - a soprano range which goes well into the sixth octave, where countertenors rarely venture. Dimash also adds ethnic and modern vocal techniques never found in any classical music. Krutoy takes full advantage.
In some cases, they're new compositions. In others, they are rearranged by Igor for Dimash's voice. Some are operatic in character. Others are all but impossible to classify. Pop? R&B? Rock? Musical theater? Las Vegas lounge lizard? Opera?
Look for Love Is Like a Dream, Know, Ogni Pietra, Passione, Love of Tired Swans, Your Love, Ti Amo Cosi, Ulisse.
Krutoy had no part to play in Sinful Passion. That song was rearranged for Dimash by the original band, which also played for Dimash as he sang the song. But Krutoy was in the audience with his wife. After the song, the bald man standing and clapping in the front row is Krutoy. Small wonder he clapped; Dimash hit that one out of the park and into orbit.
Dimash often sings songs differently in different concerts, so don't pass up the chance to see more than one version. Sometimes the differences are stark. For the song Know, in one concert Dimash is presenting a love song with lyrics; the stage theme is fire. In another, the stage theme is water, the lyrics are gone, the love interest is gone, now it's something primal from prehistory. It could be an entirely different song, but it isn't. They're both wonderful.

He terms his own genre as Neoclassical, blending classical tones with other genres such as Pop, blues, ballads and even rap. I think your dad would most enjoy Ongi Pietra, a song written and composed for Dimash by the Russian composer" Igor Krutoy.
