    Most honest view of the study I have heard. The study and AHM is flawed and needs to updated. Methods, equipment, formulas and more.

    I wish Oklahoma would do something for the ducks we don’t have enough wetlands for public to hunt it’s all private wetlands it’s sad only thing we got to hunt is big lakes and ponds but not enough wetlands

    Dr Frank the pintail pop in the pacific Flyway needs to be adjusted , it can be the the only ducks you see all day for most of the season .

    Possession limits do not apply once the birds have been processed and at your home domicile. People have a misunderstanding of the law. You can have as many birds as you want once processed. Not at your duck camp or in a cooler on a multi day trip but your actual abode.

      Appreciate the input! There seems to be a lot of confusion on this. I seen an interview of a federal gw that says he doesnt interpret it that way and that its still possession even if you turn them into sausage sticks. And then others like yourself say its not. I just wish they would rewrite and clarify the actual law to remove any room for different interpretations.

      @@ChasingGreen the time possession limits will get someone in a pickle is at ducks camps. Unlabeled birds and birds without a wing or fully feathered head.

    I am in Alabama and 90%+ public myself. It’s definitely became a rough game here. I’ve been thinking about taking an AR or TN trip myself. Everything is way restrictive no matter for the guy who only gets the weekend to hunt. Ducks actually making it this far south seem to be less and less since the early 90s when I was a kid watching the awesome hunts of yesteryear.

      Traveling is definitely worth doing if you want to experience an awesome hunting trip. Not just the hunting, but the adventure of being in a new area, meeting new people. Really makes for a fun experience. Just got to build knowledge overtime. Keep expectations low the first few trips. Remember that your building a foundation that will pay off down the road

      @@ChasingGreen exactly right there. Travel actually keeps me from traveling sometimes. To make sense of that I’m a truck driver by trade. Honestly it’s easy to have low expectations after hunting Northeast Alabama for so many years. We do still have some nice teal and woodie shoots. As I grow older it’s much more about the camaraderie than the pile. Life happened and I got out of hunting for quite a few years. I am glad to be back hunting the past 8 years it’s been totally enjoyable from the big standpoint. I wouldn’t do it if it was all about the antlers or the pile. Thank you for the awesome content and keep on keeping on!!!

    My question is: why are mallard limits different for each flyway?? Of course my flyway is limited to 4 while all the other flyways get 5+

    • @ChasingGreen
      @ChasingGreen  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That comes from the amount of hunters that are in each flyway. So the Mississippi flyway has way more hunters than the central or the pacific. So lets just say 100,000 hunters harvest 4 thats 400,000. But if 75,000 harvest 5 thats 375,000 so its still less harvested that day. Same reason why in canada you can take 8 mallards. They only have around 150,000 hunters whereas the us has around a million (not exact numbers but close enough for the sake of this discussion). Hope that sheds some light on it

      @@ChasingGreenthanks, he said duck harvest has hardly no effect on longterm duck population so that really shouldnt matter on hunter numbers/limits imo. If it truely isnt hurting the duck population then every flyway should have equal limits.

    • @ChasingGreen
      @ChasingGreen  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well harvest dont make a difference until a certain point. They try to keep it between 6 and 15% of the pop. So if we raised it much we would go above that target level
