    We don't have ice on lakes in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Our winters are getting shorter and shorter. Last year we had rain in every month of the year. You can usually drive a semi on our lakes by late december where I live (and walk on them in November). I get what you are saying about too many hunters and I agree!: ) But that's not what's going on. Same number of hunters here the last 10 years…the ducks don't need to leave here.

    That's because there are tons of birds still holding in Canada and states like Minnesota and Wisconsin.....why would they fly south if they have access to ag fields and water in the north?

  • @earlgregoire6661
    @earlgregoire6661 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Minnesota is still wide open, tons of birds on the rivers and lakes and cut crop fields to feed in, plus no pressure as our seasons been closed for a month

      @@fowlplayoutdoors68 The Migration is changing and weather is only a small factor. People are farming for waterfowl north of us. Large unnatural tracts of farmland specifically manipulated to attract and hold waterfowl. Funded by corporations and wealthy people. Probably even grant money and taxpayer money. At the same time the state of Arkansas has been dropping the ball for a decade, and we've been in a habitat loss free fall. Large GTRs are dying. Limited money and resources are being put back into building, fixing, or even maintaining most of our habitat. I could go on.

      @@jacoblogsdon2850yeah that idea has floated around for years. Most blame DU. I’ll ask this: can you name any of these properties that a built just to keep ducks up north. You are a little correct in that agriculture plays a part but is by farmers. I shift away from plants like rice farther south and habitat loss don’t given the ducks as much to eat. But snowfall and temperature is what drives migration. Last week guys were still shooting limits of greenheads in SD. That’s highly uncommon. But it’s because they have not frozen up yet. And this is an El Niño year which tends to produce warmer weather in that part of the country. FWIW, AR game and fish recognizes the need to change how they manage the GTRs and is doing so but of course guys are now whining because they are not all flooded all season.

    Worst season yet in Pennsylvania .Nothing on Lake Erie ,and.no storms up north to drive them down . Wal-Mart and Lowes parking lot are void of sea gulls which is highly unusual for this time of year . We need a major cold front to come down from the north ,but I fear it's to late for this season .

      I live near cedarburg. SE WI fewest birds I’ve ever seen and I’m 64 yrs old. I’ve been told the Missouri River area was where the main duck migration occurred this year. I don’t know if it was the fires in Canada all year that messed us up or what? It was very dry here all spring and early summer so we didn’t contribute much to the population that’s for sure. Looking forward to next year being considerably better.

      @@kellywendlandt3940 I live in Wisconsin and been duck hunting all my life, and let me tell you there are more and more hunters every year. It’s getting insane literally every inch of public access is touched by someone. I’m so sick the TH-camr hunters encouraging new people to try hunting it’s pissing me off. The pressure that I witness these birds get is incredible. There’s definitely to many people on this earth over populated and it’s only going to get worse mark my words
