  • Here's how to transplant broccoli, brussels sprouts, cauliflower and into a Florida garden in mid-November. In a previous video, I showed how to plant the seeds. In this video, I show how to pot them up once and then put those plants into the garden a few weeks later. This works for those of you who do not live in Florida-simply adjust the timing according to your growing zone.

    CANNERS:
This is similar to the old canner that has lasted me for decades. It has the weighted jiggler which is easier to maintain the pressure with less hovering over the stove to make sure it’s at the correct pressure: amzn.to/42fonwJ
If you can afford a bigger one, it will be worth the investment if you plan to do a lot of canning. This one doubles as a water bath canner: amzn.to/3N9foJp
    PRESSURE COOKER FOR MEALS:
Please choose a stainless steel pressure cooker, not an aluminum one. Old aluminum pots are pitted which indicates that aluminum leached into the food! This one is similar to mine. I cook dry beans in the pressure cooker and then use it to also can pint jars. amzn.to/3MGTWKh

I am in northeast Florida, I transplanted my first batch a month ago. I wanted mustard greens for Thanksgiving but started my seeds too late. Next year I will start them in July.

That may work. May I suggest starting a few in July and a few in August as a test? I directly sow those into my garden. Same with turnips. I started turnips directly into the garden in late September. I cooked the thinnings already. They are just now starting to actually make turnips. I normally grow mustard every year because they have come up volunteer for at least a decade. Then I transplant them. This year, only 2 came up. I'm glad I saved seed from previous years "just in case". They normally come up in late September or as late as November. So, your idea is probably correct.

I planted broccoli seeds and they were ao slow growing and rhen atopped altogether. The chickens then jumpted in and dug them or ate them. Same thing with my radishes. Seems that starting from seeds just never works for me. One year i had great luck with lettuce tho.

When that happens, try to learn what was wrong and try again. I have to ammendment my soil but I had to learn what kind of ammendment by trial and error. Sometimes I still have major fails. It is part of gardening. I hope you try again. My neighbors chickens Sometimes get in my garden too. Frustrating.
