Kim (Aubee Billie) is absolutely great, but let's not overlook how good John (Kyle Martin) is throughout the show. Apart from his excellent singing, his face speaks volumes. (Minor point: what's going on with the costumes? John, who now runs an independent charitable organisation, gave his Bui Doi speech in his old army uniform, backed by an army choir. In this scene, he even goes about a foreign country, Thailand, in US army uniform. The next time we see him, he comes in with Chris, after searching tropical Bangkok, with both of them wearing formal business suits and ties.)
These fine actors are high school children. The schools have only so much money for costumes, so wardrobe purchases need to be carefully guided. They all looked great, and that's all that mattered. The costumes don't look "worn" either; they are children dressing-up!
@@d.j.7069 This school spends a LOT on its shows, but what we are talking about here is not a question of money. Having John and Chris search tropical Bangkok in polo shirts and shorts would not have been more expensive than putting them in heavy business suits. The business suits would have been very appropriate for the Bui Doi scene.
The level of visible stress on John’s face: *french smooch* PERFECTION
The girl who played Kim has a really beautiful voice
Both have incredible voices. Even much better (in singing voice) than the ones I saw in Broadway some years ago
Wow. ..... love their voices. Perfection.
That was really nice. Enjoyed the tempo. It's a beautiful song. No need to rush.
