Aside from your channel and a couple of others, few TH-camrs understand the importance of weighting the coffee pucks for each available intensity. About the TDS test, you are the first bean to cup machine reviewer that I'd seen performing it. Thanks for your great reviews. Eagerly waiting for your Magnifica Plus evaluation.
Hi, You are right, weighing the coffee puck is important for consistent results. I'm glad you appreciate this kind of detailed approach to reviewing these machines! I'll try to do the Magnifica Plus soon.
Love your reviews, and that you give both C and F temps. But you just solved one aggravation, and one that people really grouse about in reviews--how to just steam milk--Brava! I just got this machine and am getting to know it. I'm still getting sour/bright notes, but they are hidden in my milk drink. Even with fresh, local beans and a lower grind setting (3) and the highest strength, I couldn't drink the coffee by itself. Hopefully I'll get it figured out though. Thank you! Also, the one thing I don't like about this machine is that I can't pull a double espresso/cappuccino. At least not that I've found!
Thanks a lot Tina ! Sour or a bit under extracted coffee is often a problem with those machines. You seem to be on the right track, maybe experiment with different roast level.
Very informative video. Just wondering if it's normal that the water is being released to the tray from the little hole located in the left corner. It's happening pretty much always when the machine is in use and sometimes when it's happened I can hear something like pressure is being released.
Hi Colin, thank you for creating easily the best review of the Evo I've seen on TH-cam. You raised a point that concerns me slightly. You mentioned the first cup temperature isn't as hot as subsequent drinks. We currently use a Nespresso machine that makes around 6 cups a day - usually one at a time with gaps of an hour or so in use. If we bought the Evo I wouldn't expect our to change. So every drink would be the first drink made by the machine after switching it on. Do you think we would be better sticking with our Nespresso - which we've used for around 7 years? Paul
Hi Paul, I would definitely change for the Evo. The coffee will be better, cheaper and with so many different coffee to discover. For the temperature, a few tricks will help. You can run another rinse cycle, and warm up your cup with that water. That way, the first coffee will be warm enough.
Fantstic video. I really appreciate your detailed assessment of the machine- good balance of technical details and measurements, along with your subjective evaluation of the coffee. This is really helpful for my decision process. And this machine is now on my short list for purchase!
Great review! I saw another video you made on tips to better espresso in an automatic machine. Have you spent time dialing in the Evo? I would be curious to hear your opinion on grind and water volume settings specifically for this machine. I already use the 3 bean setting and hottest water.
De’Longhi Ecom 290-42 machine - beverage options Espresso, Coffee, long, Doppio+ and Americano. Can you tell me How much coffee and water on each drink, how many seconds extraction done for each drink? Thanks
Can you help me out please. Which is better the evo or plus ? Looking to get one for my partner she drinks mainly iced lattes and everyone and then during winter a hot coffee. Any help is appreciated
Hi, Both machines are extremely similar. No bad choice here, the Plus has a little screen (The Evo Next could have one too) and a few more automated drinks.
Fantastic review, this is the first time that ive watched you, can you help me, could i fit a 12oz travel mug under the milk and coffee spouts, it measures 140cm Thanks and keep up the good work
Thanks a lot Gary ! It's really close. I just measured, and it's 13.8 cm from the top to bottom. That might do the job by putting it a little bit behind.
Unfortunately their milk solution is absolutely horrible - the cleaning process. You lose any interest in using it because cleaning it is so much work. There are so much better solutions like Krups (just one tube, the internals are automatically cleaned after every use) or Philips (Lattego is by far the best solution - you just wash two open parts under a hot water).
I'ts true that the Lattego is by far the easiest to deal with, but it lacks finesse and texture. so there is is a tradeoff. Krups system on the Evidence is not better at all, there is a lot to clean in the coffee and milk spouts. As for the Delonghi, there is an automatic rinsing cycle after each dink, I don't think it is a horrible cleaning process. All automatic milk system will need proper cleaning.
@RacerGuet While having an obvious French accent, his English is quite concise and easy to understand. You are also clearly a nonnative English speaker judging by the way you have worded your comment. Either that or you are just poorly educated.

What do you think of the Evo ? Best mid-range bean to cup machine ?

Hey I need your help, what’s a good coffe machine for just full mug of black grounded coffee?
what about espresso macchiato?
Great review! I saw another video you made on tips to better espresso in an automatic machine. Have you spent time dialing in the Evo? I would be curious to hear your opinion on grind and water volume settings specifically for this machine. I already use the 3 bean setting and hottest water.
Thanks!
I did 😉
I'm preparing a video on that subject, it should be online in the next few weeks. I'll let you know.

Helpful, informative review, thank you! Can you do a video about the best settings for the Magnifica Evo you mentioned? It would help a lot, too.😊
Hi,
Thanks for your message ! I'm working on it this week and hopefully I'll have it ready next week. I'll let you know ;)

I.em waiting for delivery to my home hahah
Milk is not hot enough. Also the machine produces far to much foam .
It's a super auto, the milk is quite good for this kind of machine. We can't expect barista level microfoam ;)
