Hello from November 2022 :) Things have changed so much since this video, haven't they? Even youtube has changed so much. Love this old school content
Cinevate rails and the battery is an Energizer Energi To Go pack. I have the AC adapters for the Component to VGA adapter and the 7" LCD running to it. I get about 2.5 hours runtime with it.
Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Thanks so much for this video, I have a Sony HC9 but wish I had purchased a Canon like yours because I can't find a user website to ask questions about my Sony. I did buy a DOF adapter for it and now I understand the process thanks to you.
That sounds good. I'll be working on a feature length indy film with a friend of mine (see Hoyman28's post) this summer but I'd be up for some filming.
And this is the guy I'm doing the film with!
Or just get a Canon 550D with at f1.8 50mm lens. Crazy how times change...
Sure, that would be great. Feel free to send me info about your class. I always enjoy hearing about new creative talent. Maybe we can feature you in a future episode.
Thanks for watching!
The monitor I'm using is a Lilliput and it's 7". ...unless you ment my projector which is 135".
@kussummak The lense on the 35mm adaptor is the one you're focusing. You set the focus on your camera and leave it alone.
@jaafilm Hey, I can answer this one for you. The reason you want to stay away from 60p is because when you increase the frames per second, you're actually making it look more like home video rather than cinematic style filming. If you notice in a 60p video, it's very smooth when the camera moves around. In a 24p mode, there is a slight bit of "strobe effect" when the camera pans around. That is actually a very good thing, because all movie style filming is done this way. We just don't notice.
You my friend are amazing..!! Number 1 fan here..
This video is from the early's 07, that's the way they did it in those times!
A very informative tutorial. Thank you for sharing it and your knowledge.
These where the days Tony :)
that was some old school pool table shots!
@thecakeisbake I have the Letus Extreme adaptor. I'm not quite sure how many f stops you're losing, but there is definantly some light loss. The key to my adaptor is to have your camera's lense iris set to Open and the adaptor 35mm lense set usually to the lowest setting. Then, use an ND filter as needed. Just bring in some additional lights if necessary. Don't worry, it's not too much light loss. Otherwise, no one would use these.
13 years later and we have cheap Super35 compact cinema cameras such as the BMPCC 6K... Amazing!
Nice video! I have a little question though. I'm interested in making stop-motion animation but I'm looking to capture that oldish 35mm look rather than the crisp HD stuff you see nowadays. There's something about film that just has a distinct and unique beauty and character that the more common methods nowadays lack. So my question to you is, do you recommend the Canon HV20/30 + 35mm adapter for the look I'm interested to capture vs buying a 35mm film camera + risking screwing up the film?
nice studio man!! very nice
Great tutorial thanks for this. I just got a HV40
'and cut!' Priceless....
Gret tutorial! How much does that brevis adapter cost? What do you think about the canon 5D?
That looks good...but the canonT2I looks like it could do the same without that big setup...I mean the HV30 cost about $800and that other stuff sure as well over $500 and looking at what the T2i can do...I just think that the T2 is a better deal....what do you think?
that right that you use as a shoulder mount...what in the world is that? And how do I get one? :) I have a canon HF10 will I be able to rig my camera up the same way as yours?
hey nice , there is a great difference wow , I am just getting into video and film and know very little just been watching people around me shoot film and i got bit lol
I would like to know the cheapest hd and i mean cheapest hd camera that has good stability and i can connect a mixer to send sound into my production software nuendo or adobe premier or final cut so i can control the audio mostly
so i am guessing rca jacks . not ready for the higer level of shoot like you yet lol
another question...I've been reading about the Encinema35mm. What are your thoughts?
Hi man! Thanks for this video! I buy a HV 30, but not came yet. I have a dought about the format did you upload yours videos on youtube. AVI, WMV, or mpg??? Thanks, sorry for my english!
you have a very nice rig now. if i'm there over the summer we should get together sometime and maybe do some work
Interesting video, definitely check this out. 5stars.
quick question can I use Cine-xenar PL primes with a 35 MM adapter? I own a vixia hf 10...its not 5 K but Idk the lenses look awesome.
@jaafilm it cause your not used to see in 24 fps, but reviewing the video afterwards will look normal
This is my camera guy!
no matter what you would attached to these cameras, they will still look video like
what rails are you using and what battery system do you have on your rig?
you really should light your sets better especially with a camera like the hv20 or hv30 because it has a small color sensor.. but other than that its great
i do have a question. the canon hx-a1 looks very attracting.i have the canon hv 20 and i want to start making my own films. they say the canon hv 20 built in lens gets distorted
when displaying your video on larger tv's, if this is true should i buy an 35 mm lens or
the canon hx-a1
@willtruslow It doesn't look like there was a whole lot of light in the room so I'm guessing that's the reason.
Pondpont out of Canada makes a steller Vibrating DOF adapter for a pretty darn reasonable price.
@NextWaveG Where do you get your equipment? Second hand?
ij just bough myself a canon vixia hf 200 could i also use a dof adapter on that camera???
what type of cameras do the use to tape episodes of NCIS: Los Angeles?
Hi!
if i make a short film and shoot on 60 , is this going to cause me trouble later? i am hearing that for making a film should be 24p what is the reason for it?I
am using XL2 canon and what about 1/48p
thanks
thanks
would you sell any of the gear that was in this episode
well done
any idea how good the Rt-4 is?
I still don't see why I need an adaptor if my TM900 has shallow DOF using f1.5 and some telephoto. ??
Hi,
when i am recording video with 24p it looks kind of funny movement on my screen when i am doing on 60p it shows on my video screen normal, any help why with 24p looks kind of funny way.
thanks
Nice video
hey i've got a Sony handycam and i would like a barndoor, do somebody knows where to get those?
@Rockkk59 Not rich...just know where to find good deals :)
@dabigjokeoftheday Really? Then How come that film with it's very pleasing and asthetic look makes so many digital filmcamera manufacturers and 35mm adapter builders trying to emulate the typical filmlook? That sterile cold no-depth Videolook is not allways required. Some people WANT that filmlook. Allthough i must say this example shown here isn't really good.
Or you could just buy a NEX- VG20 like I did. Huge DOF, 24p, adjustable shutter speed and all.
name of music?
I love pool. :)
shit there was a heck lot of noise in the testfilm..
@NextWaveG Where
Spinning grains glass dof adapter home made ..
@Rockkk59 CRAIGSLISTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
DON'T GET DUST ON YOUR GG!!
the dof footage looks really noisy
So basically DOF wise, this does what every DSLR can easily do and you pay with horrible 1980's B film look.
WHAT IS THE POINT?..BUY A HD CAM ONLY TO HAVE IT LOOK LIKE CRAPPY FILM
Interesting video, definitely check this out. 5stars.
