- This video is about Tamil cult film Nayagan. The film’s Producer was Muktha Srinivasan and it was directed by Maniratnam. Lead role was done by Kamal Haasan. There are lot of stories about making of Nayagan movie. Muktha Ravi - son of Muktha Srinivasan shares the inside details of Nayagan making. He says the original movie was about six hours length. With the help of 8 directors the movie was edited to the current length and form.
Sivaji was booked for the original script of Naygan with Kamal and Amala doing supporting roles. But later the script was changed by Ananthu to suits Kamal Haasan says Muktha Ravi.

What respected Muktha Ravi sir says is true.. Producer and Distributor, K.T.Kunjumon said in a movie launch function recently that, he incurred a loss of 50k way back in the 80's for the circle he took up distribution for the movie Nayakan. We as movie watchers, think many things about a movie just because of its star power and other things,..but only industry people and people who worked behind the screen know the real truth about a movie and it's business, or how many holes it poked in producers and distributors wallet..
In an interview, Boney Kapoor said that although everyone thinks Mr.India was a blockbuster hit,..he said producers, they just barely came out of breakeven and did not make big money....

During the 1980s it was written in magazines that Muktha Films was stingy to spend on the movie and they want to back out from the movie as the budget was going high for them, and they were not happy with the outcome, and it was sold at an outright rate to GV Films, this was vouched by Kamal Hassan too a few years back. That's the reason Muktha Films name will not come in the ads.

Kamalahassan himself said in an interview that, the initial producer for the movie Nayagan was 'Muktha' Srinivasan.However, when the movie shoot Kickstarted, 'Muktha' Srinivasan seem to have not liked the way Maniratnam directing and making the movie. It seems he was terribly unhappy with the planning and execution part(maybe also the expense part), and so he volunteered to back out of the Nayagan movie project. Later the movie changed hands from Muktha Srinivasan to G.V...and the rest is history.

The Editor is the only person who will know what can and what cannot work in front of the movie audience. To make a 6 hours movie go concise to a 2 and half an hour movie,.only the Demigod called The Editor can do it. 99% of movie goers do not understand the importance and the hard-work an editor puts in to make the movie a successful one.

Exactly Mahesh,...Delhi Ganesh in an interview said that he and Kamal used to sit on the movie set and keep on improvising the shots and finally ask Maniratnam if this is fine..it seems he will observe the scene, give a smile and say ok. So inputs, came in from all sides and finally Maniratnam walked away with the cake 🍰..

This fellow and dhanu are both alike pure vengeance on Aandavar kamal. Useless production house, Nayakan was a blockbuster opening america market to tamil cinema. Had they belived in the film they would have reaped huge profits. The film was bought by jeevi, maniratnam's brother who enjoyed all the monetary success of the film.
Producers don't had a passive income for a movie based on TV or DVD run at that time unlike west!! TBH, interms of BO - Nayagan a brilliant movie was below than a crap - "Manithan".
With this market, they're fair to backout - after all they just got Theatre market to get back their money that time.
Reality is shit than what we think..even now..

Mukatha srinivasan was its producer isnt? No one produces movie for fame or charity.
Whats wrong if stating they're disappointed, if they're not happy with the way money is being spent?
Both are right in their own ways.
Producer in terms of money.
Director/Actor in terms of content.
There needs a sync between them, if not it will not work out.
No wonder Maniratnam no longer work for outside Producers.
@@SaravanaKumarFellowBeing From the creative side, it's fair to prepare in advance. You can have multiple workshops with your actors to prepare & enhance before getting into shooting. Worst part is MR didn't even let know his producers about the possibility of delay or so at the start..
It's naturally for any producer to get agitated - when they encounter an unforeseen delays, spending lakhs without getting to know when it will end..
By all means, fault is with the Director here.

Muktha films was a lousy/ incapable production house.. Kamal Sir & Mani Ratnam made mistake by associating with this useless production house for an alltime classic like Nayagan!..
Kamal Sir with Rajkamal & Mani Ratnam with Madras Talkies have been hugely successful producers since then by producing their own movies till now!!.. A clear conclusion that Muktha group are a failure in their thought process..
Ivanunga oru budget solluvaanunga, appuram orediya selava iluthu vittu pada budget a double the cost aakkuvaanunga.... Producer thaan kasta padanum.... GV is a pakka businessman who knows the industry well and the market business associated. That's why GV did not help in production.but tactically taken the distribution of end product.

Dude.. Madras Talkies was nearly bankrupt after terrible movies like Kadal, KV - even MR was in his end of legacy after KV.
Same applies to KH, Rajkamal was no where till before Vikram!! KH was far worse than MR with humongous loans all over.

Producer, distributor and director.Late.Rama.Narayanan nearly broke down in a tv interview by saying how much he suffered due to loss incurred in distributing the movie 'Iruvar'..way back in the 90's.
