I have a process: 1st listen: “oh damn, that was a bit too spicy for me but there were some hooks in there” 2nd listen: “hmmmmmm, this heat is kinda tasty 3rd listen: “CERTIFIED HOOD CLASSIC”
This particular album is the case for me personally. It goes about weaving through "genres" and all, I got caught out with preconceived bias on what tricot should sound like. Place them in "correct" genres, and they actually stand amongst those that represent that particular "genre". (Whatever "genre" means anyway; tricot just bashes through all of them for the fun of it and makes it all irrelevant, most time within a single track.)
