Absolutely brilliant. Now I wish our political class would be this tuned in to things that are important to regular people, to have a vision of what the future looks like, and be able to articulate clearly how to anticipate and address challenges.

Rich people have assets, which are inflation proof. On the other hand, earned income is vulnerable to inflation. That's why the rich get richer in inflationary environments. An example, wealthy person may own several homes, rental properties(Commercial/Residential), businesses, productive land, equities, bonds, etc. The average W2 employee gets taxed the highest rate, they own almost no productive assets.

Regarding the dysfunctionality of the 3 parts of the American Dream - i.e., housing, education, health care - the dysfunctionality is simply an effect of not only a *shortage* of the input components (which all ties to labor, with the exception of the land) to these products, but also *rent-seeking* by folks whose interest is in keeping the shortage. Housing: Nobody wants more houses around because of the traffic, crime, etc., but also so that new supply does not degrade housing values for the current rentier owners. Education: The College-Industrial Complex wants to keep the paradigm of a college education, especially at which college, being a rough measure of raw G intelligence of the graduate, which itself feeds from the courts outlawing IQ tests in hiring because of ethnic bias (as opposed to the fact that ethnicities have statistical difference in intelligence), as well as be a way for employers to have some assurance that the applicant has enough get-up-and-go to get a degree, regardless of the price tag. Health Care: This is mainly due to the credential rentiers of the AMA & ADA to keep enough of a shortage of professionals around so that the prices are high.

It just shows that in some areas, Nixon also didn't govern well to his goals and the disease of how we learned not to govern to build and do great things "in the real life term" extended beyond the arrival of the "Watergate babies" into DC. But it also shows the problems of a lack of risk-taking and risk-acceptance of both us as a political entity and with regulators/politicians for not having a mentality of doing whatever it takes to get to that goal. (Nixon did a bit in that time to remove some of the teeth of the FTC and anti-monopoly regulation long before the movement really got into power later in the 1970s and 1980s).

  • @trollunion54

Brilliant guy but his value prop for crypto is underwhelming imo. I believe in crypto but I think people's future appetite for digital ownership is exaggerated in the NFT narrative. Just because people are willing to pay for outfits and dance moves in Fortnite in 2022, doesnt mean people will be willing to do that in 2040. I think the future of fun is about novel experiences which are immersive and intangible (think VR). I believe monetization of digital goods is a relic of materialist capitalism, which isn't guaranteed to survive through coming decades. Take car-sharing as an example--at some point it becomes so easy to borrow a car when needed, that only a minority of drivers will bother owning a car, and the practice of tying one's identity or happiness to such posessions will go out of style.

And I'll dump all debris, etc wherever I feel like, without paying anyone for it. And take water from any river, without paying for it. Dump sewage into the sea, without paying for it. Dump garbage from the city at the nearest convenient place, without paying for it. So easy!

producing atomic power includes uranium mining, milling, purification, enrichment and fabrication. these processes emit 10 - 20 times more carbon and pollution than wind power and at a much greater cost, as waste remains toxic for thousands of years and some is released into air & water raising cancer risks for local residents. wind & solar already provide 40% of power for germany oregon & washington with others close behind ..
