- I love checking out old cars, this benz is a tank, it'll still last till probably 500k miles! Pretty cool to be able to compare today's luxuries with things in the past

My dad bought a 1983 300SD brand new and put 380,000 miles on it...Then the odometer broke. He kept it for 8 more years before giving it to his gardener. Now it's a taxi somewhere in Latin America.
What a phenomenal car. I'm glad I'm old enough to remember riding in it.
My Mom had a 1985 300SD (bought in August of 84') with smoke silver. She had to have that color and Hendrick M-B of Charlotte had to get it out of Colorado. It was an entry level S-Class but it was nice. My Dad had a 1984 BMW 633CSi when she got her M-B. Now that was a car :)
Dolly Goodhead v
cjoutdoors1991 i have a 1982 meredes 200e w123 but it always runs it isnt a s class but has al the options👍
cjoutdoors1991 I just went at looked at a92 with 700kmi
My odometer stopped 7-years ago at 259,867. Still drives like a new car and glides along at 80mph getting 29mpg! And I put 200 miles on it every week.
I Love The Sound Of Old Mercedes Engines
Them Mercedes old diesels do purr like a kitten.
I've always loved these diesel Mercedes W126 vehicles ever since my grandmother's 300SDL
I always like the feel when you close the door of these old benzes, particularly W123, 124 and 126 (this one)..... then you can feel it is built with ingenuity and absolute perfection... I'm wishing todays mercs are as "stone" as these... thanks for posting!
Wow, these old Benz's will never die, with enough care and maintenance these will last forever !
Superb! There is NOTHING to beat these 5 cylinder engines! Keep 'em coming!
Loved the video. It was entertaining at least, watching someone unfamiliar with it, figuring out how things work. I've driven them for years. My 1984 300SD has 680K miles now. Replaced the transmission a year ago, but the engine's never been touched. Greatest machines ever put on the road, and still are to this day. Your "blast from the past" is my daily driver!!
Love these cars man, good job on the videos
A nice car, sympathetically reviewed and a good, steady camera.
A pleasure to watch ,
Any day over a Prius.
I know I am kind of off topic but does anybody know of a good place to watch new tv shows online?
@@zekeashton2999 online? Well, there's always Netflix and/or Hulu. You have to pay for them, though. If you meant free, then I'm sorry, I don't know.
I hope I assisted you! 😄
The new prius tho 🔥
Beautiful car man. Happy trails!
These are neat old cars. I had a '85 380SE, same body style. It looks like this car has an aftermarket dash cover, mine had one just like it. The dash pads cracked pretty early on these cars. I also had a '84 190D. I loved that diesel sound! I later bought a '88 300SEL (gas) in '09, now that is my moms car and now I have a '93 400SEL (as well as my '12 Honda, '95 Lincoln and my two 70s classics, lol). I still love my Mercedes though, I have not been without one since 2005.
I love the classic Mercedes just about as much as I like they are both unique in their own way.
now that's one great video
i mean all of kyle's videos are great
Aw I was jamming out to that song
got to love ur diesel benz
its not only beautiful but big and luxurious
I love that Buzzer
Bmwx5fan9 I love that horn
A nice vid.
Steady camera work and good commentary..
I would buy this car.
wooohoo, finally, a diesel car making an apearance on your channel!!! I like diesels, i wish they sold more of them here in north america! They seem to last for freaking ever!!!
engine sounds epic
just bought one... it should be under way to Europe shortly. 257 K miles, and some wear n tear... but all round great driver. up and down a bunch of CO mountains (the rockies) last week and it just kept going.
love it cant wait to drive it up an Alp...
I've always wanted one of these.
it nails... the right sound for old mercedes diesels... all i wanna do is have some fun :)
best car ever made!!!!
My aunt had that model and year. She drove it a very long time, and it always looked " brand new"!
26 years old an still looks great
Nothing so beautiful as an old diesel mercedes .. just love that sound
Makes me miss my old 300SD :(
Mercedes driver for 2.5 years, AND HOOKED. If this car were for sale, I'd buy it!
this was when Mercedes actually had quality and reliability
This is my dream car.
LOL, The dash is cracked for sure. If you pause at 2:42 you can see the popular aftermarket dash cover coming up. :) I bought one of these! Great car!
What a great caddylack!
The car was speaking to you when that song came on lol
starts perfect :-)
I have one with 132k miles, and I love that tank.
nice video!!!
beautiful
So cool!
Gotta love that sound mtygrandpa has a 98 turbodiesel and its awesome
That thing is cool as fuck.
jeb721 and Sounds like a diesel truck
Sound is really nice, like a Truck.
Nice! Thanks! Im a sucker for old German autos. Next time you see a Mercedes or BMW, check out the windsheild wipers on them, they are double jointed on one side to get a better sweep. This one has a weird wiper set up too, check it out if you can.
My 1983 has over 300,000 miles and it’s cleaner than this thing! Those seats are trashed. And super EXPENSIVE to replace/repair. Seems to run well enough. The W126 is a magnificent car. 1984 was the first year of memory seats.
Looks in great condition for a car of that age and mileage
It goes back to idle really fast. My parents used to have one of these but it wasn't a diesel. Older Mercedes are well-known for their bouncy seats lol.
like the old tune of the good old diesel
I have a 1982 with 278K - still runs perfect with original transmission
you have an awesome school bus
hi kyle, your videos are cool.....!!!
I've got this car in my backyard! Same color, but mine is from 1980!
the buzzer sounds like the emergency alert thing on TV!
I wouldn't have hesitated to buy that. The OM617 comes from good stock. Bred from MB commercial truck engines designed for 500k service.
Perfect song for a bouncy old Benz lol
3:15 And remember, respect is everything!
I miss that diesel noise. I had an 85 300cd.
You say you're "not going to rev this one too much....got that high mileage"...??? Dude, this car is just getting broke in good at 216,000; that engine sounds perfect and very strong! I have a 1982 300D with a lot more miles than that and it is still going strong. Yours has plenty of life left.
What a pretty big body merc
Grandfather has a 560 SEC that has done 216k miles with an utter lack of consistent maintenance, so a 300SD in moderately well-maintained shape should do 300k easily. Love these older Benzes, the dual bonnet latches are a trip, and when you close it you have to push down on both sides to get them both secured.
cool car
That engine is gonna outlast most people currently on earth.
But the late 70 or early 80s are better in style than the new cars
She's a noisey old beast but it will run forever! :)
I've taken a part one of these engines
awesome video, i wish i could afford a car dealer license.
Its funny that they put that stereo in a car like that!
i like old mb :) ... my first car will be an old mb that's for sure... i will go to germany and buy one of that...
5:18 the horn sounds a little funky
nice old benz! Not bad for a 25 year old car.
it has the newer wheels, i did that too my 85 also, makes it look newer
@DjEndurancE Yes, 5 speed manual was available iirc.
Nice car that diesel is loud. That look like a nice 96 Vette next to it.
you HAVE to test drive one of these lol
Next time you go to auction, would you please put a lot of cars into one video, like everything in the row?
Just got one today for $400 in decent shape. Was thinking about selling it but now I want to keep it
What did you end up doing?
Making me wonder if i should buy the one in my area
Hey this looks almost exactly like mine. Any Ideas on how to repair the interior wood finish? I am working on restoringmine. It is certainly a tank of a car!
80s Luxury
ya and i own the exact same thing
Jeremy Reacts My dad owns an 83 (Pretty much the same thing)
I have an 85. It's almost exactly the same, but the air filter is in a different spot. But everything else is the same
@zech007 I had that car, the only issue was to clean the gas tank from the inside cus it was full with rost :) the hard part of the work was to figurate it out what the car need:) it is a good car tough, I loved it..oh and one time the key (starter key) was stock in tho lock so I had to change the complete part, cost me about 350 dollar plus tax also 420.
It looks really strange with the sealed beam lamps, they were one big lamp on the UK models
saabkyle04,you're great! =)))
@mabdiuhrman they still do, at least in the E-Class
Actually, the diesel versions were only sold here and in Canada.
most beautifull s-klasse ever made
just my seeing the ziptie around the steering column tells me its at an auction... or insurance sell.
wonder how much it went for
How about the 280 SE and 600? None of them came as diesel options, both are S-Classes and both were sold in the US too.
What a beauty! That's nothing for mileage on a diesel, it's like brand new.
I have 500,000 miles on my 300SD. I wouldnt be scared to rev the most reliable diesel put into production.
My cousin has a filtering system for used cooking oil instead of diesel. Fuel doesn't cost him a penny in this thing.
We have the Diesel version here in the UK, actually something like 75% of all new cars sold in the UK now are diesel....
a sexy car that sounds like a truck .. that is undeniably cool
216,000 miles. That ain't much at all. Not even halfway broken in. Those 5 and 6 cylinder mb diesels are bullet proof. Hopefully it's living a cared for life. She still purrs like a kitten. That mb diesel note is a eargasm, just absolute music
@maurigian1 When was a 1984 Cadillac Deville's interior flashy? It may have some chrome but thats it.
sound off music.. love those Diesels. I had one that had 435000 miles
My mother has a 2009 gl 450 and I want saabkyle to make a review of it
216k is nothing on this beauty. Should go AT LEAST 700k if the body holds up.
Not if the oil isn’t changed every 3,000 miles and the filters kept clean. And definitely not if the ALDA system isn’t kept in synch with the turbo, transmission, and the vacuum pump. People assume these indestructible engines can be neglected or abused. And they can be. But they sure won’t last. And once you’ve worn out the piston rings or cylinder sleeves your engine is gone! No compression? Your engine is worn out and you’re burning more oil per tank of gas each month than the car is worth!!!
@@closer71 in my country we have Mercedes 190d taxi and some have 1.3 million km which I believe is around 800.000km. in my country we re bore the engine and put larger piston or we call it Oversize. And after a rebore the engine runs like new and can still run another 300.000km before big service on engine. Or some simply just swap the engine with toyota 2L diesel engine or Mitsubishi 4d56 or other Japanese engines such as Isuzu 4jb1 and they can run up to 450.000km average before rebuilt. But out of all engines the Mercedes engine om601 and om616 are the best 4 cylinder diesel
👌👌👌👌👌👌
i ♥ diesels....
like my 4d56 Mitsubishi L200 engine
@C06coolvette they did that with the volvos too, they look silly :/
I am about to buy one of these for $500 (cdn) Current owner is an older gentleman who doesn't worry about money, he just wants it to go to a good home. I don't need another car but you wouldn't pass it up either, would you?
Hope you got it
