- Today we are sorting a 2014 2.0 tdi Vw crafter with a snapped cambelt, let’s see if we can get it back up and running again without replacing the engine or the cylinder head

this is 100% how a garage should look . fixing skills that most main dealers dont have. keep on the spanners guys love the vids thanks
Sad to say i bought a £50 capri back in the day, 3 month mot, used it then scrapped it. Was in better condition than the one fudge is working on.Well Done fudge for fixing this one.
It's nice to see a man holidaying at his workplace. I do it all the time but I work from home.
Genius content every video is funny and its good to see actual fault finding and fixing. A skill thats getting rarer.
Great video as always Al. I like the technical terms like "KABOOM SHACKER LACKER" is that in the manual. We are proffessionables ! You make that job look so matter of fact. Looking forward to next one.
I am softening towards you Al again, slowly forgeting about the Chek plastic pig you presented as a car...lol...
Todays engineering excellence on your part was a sermon of note, change the bloody cambelt & accoutraments....
Fudge's F Crapri, should not have been disturbed from its finale resting place, like del boys broom he had for yrs, 5 heads & 4 handles...Ford does not have many highlights & a crapri did not break the run, Classic, Capri, Anglia, Zepher,Zodiak, a vintage of vinegar...
As an undertaker at least Fudge is cheerful & skilled and fun...
Thumbs up,many thanks for tonights light entertainment....
😁
Im now 56 yrs young and i have owned a total of 13 capri’s ….yup no joke…from the 1.6 to the 3.0s and 2.8i.s and inbetween of course my favourite one i ever had was the signal orange 2.0s ..loved it bits and it was just as quick (or more ) than the black 3.0s i had, i hope fudge gets this one done it looks like a lazer to me ? door stripes give it away ..unless im mistaken?..fudgey keep going on it! i want to see this car running!
It’s is a 2ltr lazer indeed and there is a video of us getting it running after 20 years of stilling 👍
At least with the V6 you didn't have to worry about the timing belt.
Great viewing Al and fudge
Pucka nitty gritty content al for prime minister 2024 first rule cam belt compulsory change after 50000 miles 😂
As a person who has owned every Capri model made even the 3.1 RS i think it was a 3.1 even had recaro seats and a wabasco sunroof so total respect to smudgy fudge 😊 anyway al Very interesting video never knew you can sometimes escape fitting a new mew motor if the cam belt does one. Thanks matey excellent video as always.🚐🚐🚐👍🤟✌️📽️
Some engines are a non interference engine. Meaning the piston and valves don't collide if the timing belt snaps.
''Shakalaka Bang..........''😂🤣keep these videos coming. You and Fudgey make the week.👍
Wow how fiddly a job and so much destruction. Get your belt changed gyys. Thank you for the video Al
Good Evening Al and Fudgey. What can i say. Your Engineering know how and years of Mechanical Knowledge is Amasing. Thank you for your very detailed Information about, what can happen to your Engine, if you do not have your Cam Belt changed......... Ooouchhhh!!!!!! A very Expensive bill and could need a new Engine. I have just had my Cam Belt changed on 2.0 TDi Diesel. He needed it done. My engine does really Good mileage, 55 to the Gallon. I fill up once a month. I own a Audi A3 2014, 6speed S-Tronic Automatic. He really is a great vehicle to have and own. I love going for drives in him. He does run very Well, he does not smoke at all. Thank you for sharing Al and Fudgey.
Great fix there Al hope the man gives you a bottle or two an the capri is coming on Fudge 👍👍
Trouble with people is they think engines will run without doing anything to them or it's because they don't want to spend the money but cam/timeing belts need to be changed when ever there ment to be done as it's cheaper than the engine going bang bloke was lucky good job you know wat your doing al but would of been cheaper to change the belt 😂 you saved that engine keep up the good work mate 👍
Yet more chucklesome quality content, Boys.
As per !
Love the mugs were they off the wives fudges capri is coming on hopefully he will be able to get it on the road for the summer ☀️
Another great video has always al and fudgie 👍
Another great video Al thanks so much . Great detail and abit of a laugh brilliant 👍
Keeping you in a job the man not having timing belt done . lucky no more damage 👍😆
I had similar problem vw cktb 250000 miles. Rebuilt top end but rings needed doing not long after had low oil presure warnings. bottom end worn out. Definitely need to drop the sump and make sure strainer is clear guaranteed full of bits after belt snap. The Luton 2.0 drinks aboit 20mpg around town. 2.5 aboit 40mpg round town.
Nice repair. I remember back in the day the old Renault 18 2.1d and the later Laguna 2.2d was the same deal with a broken belt just breaking the rockers. Unfortunately with the Laguna motor it made an inherently shite engine easy to repair.
Top class work by a real mechanic not a Muppet that plays parts darts great video lads👍
Another great vid! The knowledge of experience…
Very educational video, love it 😍 👏🏻👏🏻
Always a pleasure Al n Fudge
Couple of vids ago I commented on how my two ford's have got to 150 and 200k with no issue, Saturday one slipped on the timing belt. Rip s-max, mummy's little soldier.
Great video Ali and fudge keep up the good work and videos
2.0 TDi is a great engine. My previous one covered 252k before the rest of the car fell off it, my current one is at 217k without any issues. I always do 9/10k oil changes though. I prefer it to the 2.5 five cylinder, which was thirstier and a bit more agricultural.
always always love your videos keep um coming
Brilliant guys keep the video coming guys
I'm amazed you can fix this
Good job they rarely bend valves like the Vauxhalls do Al class content as usual I talk to myself when doing jobs must be a mechanic thing 😂
Well you is the man , subs will keep coming 😎
That snapped belt had you playing your very own game of Operation. Retrieving all the little shards of metally bits. A quick drop off the coolants and a bit of charring on the engine and just like that She’s alive. That glue residue left of the luton body needs a drop of glue remover to clean it off. That’ll stop the dirt sticking to it.
Did you ever find that pesky screw driver?
Another great video guy’s
Even if the cam lobes look like they have not moved under impact the gears on the back of the cam are press fit and can move on the shaft also . Just bear in mind the valves have a 6mm stem and are not the strongest and a valve head can part company with the stem 3 months down the road after this kind of budget repair . I found out the hard way !
If it breaks Big Al can fix it 🤣 How’s your Mum & Dad 🤔
No change sadly still sat next to a rubbish dump 😞
Good night Al I watch all of your videos of you fixing a vw cafter where is fudge please keep up the good work up on your videos on your you tube channel
He’s on holiday this week Capri fixing 👍
Great video.
VW UK recently gone mileage only on Timing Belts dropping the VW UK 5 Year Change that only applied to the UK Vehicles and nothing else Worldwide 🤣🤣 Can't believe they got away with this robbery for as long as they did. Over 200k is probably bit optimistic though !
I know it’s a lot more work and cost but is removing the cylinder head not worth doing? The pistons must of contacted the valves to break the rockers? Is there a chance the valves could be bent? I carry out a differential pressure test and in most cases there has been a leak, even on engines like the Ford 2.0 with the valves parallel to the cylinder.
Great work mate, love the videos.
May 63 reg Ford focus 1.6 tdci is due,I think it’s 100k but I’ll get it done on its next service,I’ve owned the car since nearly new so I know it’s never been done.
Brilliant Job Al 2.0 Tdi will do good miles per gallon about 40 mpg with about 140 hp belts should be done keep it giving good miles per gallon 😂😂
Remember kids; preventative maintenance saves you money!!! :P
You are just a genius sir 🎩 cap doffed 😁
Brill thatvw crafter was a piece of pish gor you ,well AL another great vid 😂😂😂
very good content 👌
i'm sure fudgie's capri will be mint by the time he's done- but it's slow going! I know it's a labour of love and not for the money- but are they going up in value??
Yes he bought it right luckily and hes most likely not going to part with it once done !!! He’s a Ford man through and through 👍
I seen a transporter about to fail at 29k where the waterpump had soaked it in antifreeze
I like the trabent owners club hat al.
It's like watching a surgeon perform open heart surgery
if the manufacturer says canche the cambelt avery so and so miles just cut that in half and then you shoud be fine, or buy an mercedes diesel with a chain
Just had my Tea. Could have done without the hairy arse shots! One for the ladies this week 😅😂.
Nice 👍🏻
I put a fleet tracker on that thing years ago 😂
She’s done a few now lol 214,000
@@6DDIESELSDorset just a few 😂 I think it was on around the 20k mark back then.
IV got wheels like that Capri if you need any
Ford zanussi, has a ring to it😅😅😅
Another great video. 👍
Paint the Capri gold and become Bogey and Boyle < Handleys full on cop show
Always love you videos Al, where can I get a 6D Diesels hoody from 🙏
Google monkeez ink send Derick a message and he will make what ever you want 👍
I think somewhere I may have a nos laser badge in blue if fudgey needs one?
I’ll ask him tomorrow 👍
Your little invention is a secret 🤫
You didn't show it.
Al, how do you keep up to date with the tech side, do you buy something cheap and pull it apart and learn that way?
No not really, most times you just have to figure it out 👍
I have a fiat 2.8jtd 2004 motorhome, they say change the cambelt every 5 years regardless of the mileage. It lives in sunny spain, hot and dry climate, do you agree or is this overkill?
Poverty pack!😂
Another good one Al, love the progress with the capri fudge.
Al did I hear you mention corrado ?, can we all have a look at it one of the days ?
No corrado’s here at current just some golfs 👍
@@6DDIESELSDorset 🤣🤣 I don't suppose Mrs Al wants her car on the channel 👍
Ah that’s a sirocco 👍
@6DDIESELSDorset be nice to see it on the channel .
I have a leaking diesel pump on my golf mk3 if I loved closer I would be down to see you Al
Could you please tell me in your opinion which has the better engine 08 plate e class estate 320d or bmw 530d with the m57 cast block . I do a lot of miles with work . 👍
Videos are great
To be honest eat they’d be about even pinned in my view merc om642 is a dam good engine as is the m57 , I personally would go E class just for the ride quality 👍
A 2016 lwb panel van crafter loaded to 3.5t did about 28mpg 😂
do you need to whip the sump off to retrieve the escaped roller bearings or just leave them down there?
I’ve got most of them luckily, ill see if we anything out in the oil and decide from there 👍
No comment. Me and vehicles...... Not great xx
There was no heat action on this episode
Oh, golf on back of flatbed - make a video 👍🏻
Have done it’s already on here 👍
1st comment :-) i will remember to get my cambelt changed eeeeeeeeeeeeek 🙂
How much would it cost for a belt change pre snapment Al on one of these?
I recon !! Ish the kits around the £200 mark and it takes about 2-3 hours say £65 hr so £400 ish 👍
@6DDIESELSDorset such a no brainer as you continually emphasised throughout 😅 also a good ISH price I would say
would you be so kind as to measure the size of the rollers from those followers, I am looking for a pair to fit into my 1914 Indian V twin!
Yes can do 👍
270,000 miles; I wonder if it has EVER had a cambelt change...
Yes...
Yes she’s one company up until last year and fully stamped up 👍
Well done it did not blow up😂
Al love the videos but I have to subscribe every time I watch a new video what am I doing wrong
Sadly I have no idea, normally once you’ve hit the button your on till you decide other wise. We have had a few people saying they keep getting unsubscribe
Just had my cambelt changed on my car but not the water pump 🤦🥴
Might not be driven by the cambelt so not the end of the world
Took the words out of my mouth, normally it comes as part of the kit if needed 👍
@@6DDIESELSDorset it a vauxhall 17 diesel does it need one 🤔
@@darrenmeears3912 if the WP is driven by the belt it needs WP,if not no need to change WP unless it's leaking.
More scalfudgery
😂😂
I am a man who knows nothing....nothing, but
I would venture that, said working shop space might benefit from a tidy up...No?
You’d have to have the time for that and it’s not that bad ! 😂
I always say that when you buy a vehicle if there's no concrete cam belt history change your belt an waterpump for peace of mind
