Making homes hurricane resistant

Ashraf El Damatty is hoping a mesh of wire cables installed on the roof of a home will give it the strength to withstand severe windstorms -- and possibly hurricanes. So far the tests have proven him right.
The Civil & Environmental engineering professor at The University of Western Ontario has partnered with M.A. Steelcon Engineering Ltd. to develop the "Hurricane Resistance System" for wood framed homes to help prevent them from collapsing during severe windstorms and hurricanes.

Exactly. My house that me and my family built has been in 90mph winds. No issues. 50mph is just a light gust comparrd to a cat 5 hurricane st 160mph

I would think you should just put various designs in a wind tunnel, and see where they create turbulence, then smooth it out, the same way they do with the lines on cars.
You get the lifting force bc wind accumulates below that overhang; what if you just capped it at a 45° running back to the house?

2x4 wood is not meant to build a house!
3X8 rafters with a 1/2 inch threaded bolt coming up from the concrete wall holding it down.

My house that was built in 2012 in Florida has hurricane clips on every roof joist just checked to make sure as I'm planning on riding out Irma. They also have storm shutter mount's pre installed for every window.
