I remember this so well...such a great show and a great fest that really embodied the scene at the time. Mineral, Sense Field, a young Boy Sets Fire, and then Coalesce, Frail (or were they the year before)...and I could go on. That was the scene at the time.but dont fool yourself, all kids talked about was the old days. I saw Hot Water Music play to 15 people. I saw Texas is the Reason play to 20. Enjoy what you have today kids- someday ppl will be posting videos of the shows you missed too
turned 20 years old this month ,, i was never alive at the same time as them yet i feel this song so deep in my blood mineral r everything i value in music truly so inspired by them
one of my favorite shows i ever played was with mineral in 1995. some basement in indiana. we were a metal/emo band, they were one of the best things i had seen. the show just worked, two emotional bands, both very different from each other. that was probably the coolest thing about the hardcore/indie scene back then. i didn't matter what kind of music it was, if there was passion kids generally flocked to it. miss those days. miss this band.
I have a VHS copy of this whole set, along with Jimmy Eat World who went on just after this. I need to digitize it and get it up here. This was such an amazing weekend for me. Changed the course of my life.
This song will always define the genre of "emo" to me. This is the ultimate form of putting emotion into music. I will always hold it extremely close to heart.
I was just a baby when this whole scene was happening, not to mention I lived nowhere near the midwest. I wish I could have witness it. I actually had a chance to see the promise ring last year, but I didn't know of this genre at the time. Cap'n Jazz, Knapsack, Mineral, and American Football are my favorites.
LOL. I fucking hated Mineral, see, because I was a "hardcore" kid growing up, yeah? Get this fucking emo shit out of here. Hearing it grown.................. I was a tool. This is good music. I feel sorry for you youngsters that missed the whole music movement that occured in the 90's. No matter what you're into, there were so many music kids doing so many different things. It truly was a sick time to have a cassette/CD/record player.
this was such a magic time in music. you're right crayola...there was no look to this scene. i can remember going to all these "emo" shows, and it didn't matter...the promise ring, sunny day, texas is the reason, jimmy eat world, mineral...different sounds, everybody just being themselves and loving the music. we watched the genre get highjacked with high fashion and watered down versions and found most of us didn't fit in anymore. but thats ok. can always say we were there in the beginning.
So lucky to see this band... I was too young in the 90s to go see them. Ugh we need bands like sunny day real estate, mineral and american football touring now.
Don't remember the date. I used to have all the flyers from that tour, but have since lost them. I know it was in August '95 in Bloomington, Indiana in some basement where there were couches, rad kids, and a lot of emotion. Don't know of any videos that exist. I've looked for old vids of the band I was in (Surface) and never find much. Good times...
I discovered Mineral 1 year after their splitup. I think it was at the tickle me emo website : ) ... Mineral is by far the best band of all time (at least for me)
i dunno if you'll see this. but i wish i was born in your time, i'm only 18 right now, so i missed most of this. would love to hear any stories you might have from these days
At 2:40 it sounds like the bass is playing but Jeremy is doing nothing. I guess Christopher's guitar is extremely loud on bass. Oh, and Mineral is my favorite band of all time :).
No hook just bending a string and it’s the most powerful moment in all of music
literally listening to a guitar weep
I knew I shouldnt have went outside and smoked pot with the two kids with the haircuts during this set.....
''I'll look back at all of this selfishness and foolish pride
And laugh at myself
'' great poetry
That was the sub headline title on my old music blog. I consider this to be the "perfect" example of an emo song. Some of the most honest lyrics ever

who ever missed the 90s... well i feel bad for you, it was the golden era of Emo, Hard core, Straigh edge, krishan Core, and the start of Indie rock ,
Holy crap!! This is the best quality I've seen in a long time of Mineral. Thank you!!
Good to see that the scene is going back to its roots. Went to a basement show in Pittsburgh back in October, as good as any arena show
The kids watching Mineral in this vid have no idea how cool they are. To me, at least.
The 90s were just such a better time
the best time ever
Musically yes
1:05 best drop ever
"Into it. Over it.", "Annabel", "Empire! Empire! (I was a lonely estate)". "A Bunny's Caravan", "Joie de Vivre", "Driving on City Sidewalks"
I live in Michigan. So wish I had been there. Mineral is the best.
i've been looking for my VHS of this forever! thanks man.
LOL look a starter hat! You know you are in the 90s when you see that Starter logo.
Too bad i was chilling in kindergarten when this was going on
Amazing.
I miss this.
love this band, thanks
oh how i miss them......
I soooo wish I could've been here to see this :'D
Loved Mineral. :(
this is so fucking sick

What is this whole scene called? Any word for me to google?
(true) emo
SchizoKrisX 1911 Midwestern emo
Lame Nerd is this midwestern? I never have thought Mineral was midwestern. Maybe I'm ignorant of what midwestern means
Not midwest emo, look more in the direction of mid-late 90s post-hardcore
Rock
It's called Emo and also Shoegazer... for the person who wanted to Google it a year ago...LOL
