This is a beautiful video, reminds me of many Mexican Americans that go back to Mexico to reconnect with their roots. Tu Rancho reminds me of Puebla my parents are from small pueblos. I can't wait to go and take my kids so my kids and I can reconnect as well. Saludos de 🗽👋🏼
I love this because our hope with this video is to display a rancho that people can relate to. Yes this Rancho is specifically where my mom grew up but so many ranchos are similar and most importantly it’s the people who make these ranchos so special. So it makes me happy you can relate. Saludos!
Yo shout out to both you and kevin, u guys remind me of many of the chicanos here in nyc a lot of them are from cholula, puebla. Interesting to see other towns and states.
Aww that is awesome! We love this because although it's Jenny's rancho our ultimate goal was to make it relataable to anyone who has rancho roots! Saludos
I was just commenting on another channel how many of us not only have roots in MX but we still have family over there. Your mom's stories are so similar to my parent's. Really got me emotional. Love how this episode was extra special for those of us who are bilingual ☺️ Prob one of my favorites (so far).
My mom is from Momax Zacatecas, from the Alvarez family. I remember going as a kid too, and I remember how green the countryside is, and the beautiful community activities in the plaza.
This is such a special journey for you, I can tell that it means a lot to you. It's very touching to see the house your grandpa built, and it is wonderful that you are recording your mom's story.
This was so special to watch. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. You have such a beautiful family Jenny. We’re so grateful to be apart of your journey and thank you for teaching us so much.
Thank you so much Adam and Heidi this video was so much work but so worth it at the end! Thank you for watching and commenting. wish you guys the best! Saludos!
I haven’t gone to Zacatecas since before the pandemic. My kids have been wanting to go back so I might take them this summer. The peace I feel when I’m there is the best. Everything you described was 💯. I’m from Sombrerete.
You're grandpa looked like he was a great Mexican. It makes me happy to see you honor him because we Mexicans have a beautiful culture. Writing from the San Joaquin Valley in California.
This is such a special video. We loved learning so much about your family and background, Jenny. 🥰 Your mom is so sweet! And so candid - such great stories and memories. I’ll always be a little more grateful for the simple things like toilet paper now. I (Andie) feel the same way about all sports that you do about the rodeo - I go just for the people watching and to hang out.
This is such a fascinating video. One can understand now how you became one of the most wonderful and impressive ladies in the world, Jenny. Thanks for posting.
Your mom is absolutely adorable! We can see where you get your smarts and charm from. Such an authentic video. This is the content we need and what I meant by a needed fresh perspective from Mexican Americans doing Mexico travel videos. THIS IS MEXICO!
My mom is pretty cute isn’t she 🥰 thanks so much for watching, commenting and supporting our channel ❤️ we hope to continue growing to keep making more content like this 🙂
Thank you sooo much for sharing your family home and for giving us all a glimpse into rancho life. My mother was born in Zacatecas but then her family moved to San Juan De Los Lagos and she never got a chance to show us where she came from since she died 2 years ago. So your video meant a lot to me. I was able to imagine her as a little girl walking along those winding roads and living the life your beautiful mom so vividly described. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I honestly don't know how or why I stumbled across your channel but Im so grateful that I did. Your mom is so sweet and so captivating as she tells her stories with so much pride and joy. You are very lucky to have her. I can see how much you love her and treasure her. So please continue to honor her and make her proud. I miss my mom so much everyday, but this video connected me to her and for that I am eternally grateful to you. Infinite blessings to all of you. Mil Gracias!
🥺 Natalia, you’re so sweet thank you very much for your kind words. I’m glad this video spoke to you because it’s so important to me. I’m sure your mom is very proud of you, wherever she is now. I’m so honored that you felt close to your mom via this video ❤️❤️❤️
Loved this. My family is also from Villanueva Zacatecas, I saw it show. As a neighboring rancho in your map. Loved this, I myself have a very similar upbringing as you, and random looking into moving to Mexico as well. Cheers to bumping into you.
Hola paisano! Villanueva is basically "downtown" for the surrounding ranchos. It's where people go shopping for supplies, spend a Saturday/Sunday out with family, etc. We hope to make a more complete vlog for Villanueva next time. Glad you found us. Bienvenido!
Thank you for sharing! Soy de gto Mexico pero un rancho de 1500 personas, i grew up here in the usa with DACA . I hope to return one day and vivir en el rancho and be with family
What a gift to be able to revisit your family home, it's so interesting 🙌 Totally unrelated to anything, but the crackling sound of the dry leaves is so satisfying, oh my gosh 😅🙏 Jenny, your mom is a natural on camera and I agree with what you said about her being so humble ☺ We loved seeing your moms school, it's wild to think that one room facilitated a whole community of kids - your moms' story of having obligations is very similar to that of Geovanny mom. We really enjoyed this longer video guys, keep them coming 🥰
Hola Jenny.
My Mom was born in Huejucar Jalisco, in a ranch, at the border with Zacatecas state. Your mom’s stories remind me so much of my mom’s stories and life growing up in rural Mexico, very similar, so beautiful to be reminded of this. I want to visit Huejucar this year.
Hola, I'm so glad you felt a personal connection to this video (it really warms my heart!). Mexico te espera con brazos abiertos ❤️ I hope you get to visit your homeland very soon 😊 thanks so much for your comment
Ojocaliente is really nice as well. They have some very nice wineries there. Thank you for watching our video we’re glad you can relate and feel closer to home
Saludos! Xoxo 💋
Awesome, just came across this video and saw that you had mentioned Villanueva. I thought to myself, "oh thats cool! my grandpa lives close to there"... then you mentioned you went to Maravillas. lol thats where my grandpa lives. Awesome. Cool vlog. will sub for more
What a great video! My family is also from a ranch in Zacatecas. The way your mom spoke about her childhood reminded me a lot of what my parents have shared with me about theirs-my dad also took my mom on a horse 😄 and my grandpa stopped speaking to my mom for some time after she left with my dad. Lol Anyways, keep up the great work Jenny and Kevin y saludos para todos!
Haha it was super common in those days, huh? Where is your family from? Thanks so much for commenting and watching. It makes me happy that others are enjoying this video.
I grew up on a farm and last spring I went to the farm to visit my Dad. We did the same kind of walk (drive). We checked out all of the old homes of friends, neighbours and family in the area that are slowly being reclaimed by nature! How I wish one day to get my father down to Mexico to experience its beauty!
Hey again guys!! 1.30 in and I already know this is going to be a super great vlog. Your grandfathers ranch is clearly such a special place for you, and listening to you talk to your mum (with subtitles on 😂 ) was super heart warming. It's heartbreaking but also lovely that your mum feels so happy when she comes back, and then get sads when she leaves - clearly this place is special to her as well. I can only imagine, after seeing the house your mum grew up in, that moving to the US would have been a massive culture shock. The rodeo was such an interesting sport, I had never seen it before, but the community aspect is lovely. Thank you so much for showing us around Jenny, this was such a wonderful video to watch 😌
Hey friends! Thanks so much for watching - glad you enjoyed it. It's such a learning opportunity for me every time I visit my mom's hometown. I admire my mom for all she's been through and it's an honor for me to get to experience bits and pieces up close. I appreciate you all for leaving your thoughts on this video that is so meaningful to me. Saludos
This video fills the heart. Jennifer your Mom's hometown is about 130 miles from my grandparents home in Aguascalientes. It's not too close but the landscapes looks the same. Watching your video makes me yearn for a return to el rancho de Ojo de Agua. Yes, the same name which I'm assuming is common in Mexico. It is great to be able to visit the place of your ancestors. Many people don't have that connection which is unfortunate. It is a small part of ourselves that make us whole. I know you two are very busy with your travels but if you would like to see the video of my hometown visit you can check it out here: th-cam.com/video/XFeYPVf3Y1k/w-d-xo.html
Andres, thank you for sharing I look forward to watching your video! Yes it seems Ojo de Agua is a common name for communities because of the availability of freshwater. We’re so blessed to have this connection to our ancestors, even if fairly recent generations. I hope to trace even further back someday.
This video was so enjoyable to watch. Your Mom seemed very happy with her childhood which when they are humble, sometimes it can be a sad memory. Your Mom described a wonderful place that she grew up and I’m happy that she shared it with all of us.
Extremely happy that you enjoyed it was very personal and we are very happy to share our roots with our subscribers and family members. With this video Jenny has connected with a couple of family members that she didn't even know. How cool is that!? Thank you for commenting and watching our content. Saludos Dina! Feel free to follow us on Instagram perhaps someday we can cross paths!
We are happy to hear that it is relatable that was our goal for this video. Yes, this might be specifically Jenny’s rancho but hoped people can Feel and relive some their stories from their ranchos.
Thank you for sharing this. It is so beautiful to see you and your Mom reconnect to your roots. It really is a lesson that you can be really happy with almost nothing at all. It comes from the heart. I've been planning my move to Mexico in May, but now I wonder if I should go visit my Dad's hometown in Michigan. Well, there is time for that after I move because there isn't time now! This was a wonderful video and it preserves your Mom's house and school for the future.
Such an endearing video. Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us. I enjoyed your mother's stories, and humor as well. I see where you get your beauty from. God bless you during the times that you think of your grandfather. 🌻
Thank you so much for this beautiful comment we’re happy you enjoyed it. It’s one of those masterpieces for us that make us proud of what we’re doing on TH-cam.
Amazing video! The homeland is beautiful and I haven't been since the age of about two, hopefully I'll get to experience this someday! Again, you were very well informative throughout!
Now that I no longer border hop like I used to when I was younger, this video brings back many pleasant memories associated with my connection to two countries, two cultures, and two languages. Videos like this one are excellent examples of how you don't have to choose between loving/appreciating one culture or the other when you can love/appreciate them both. Se me hace padrísimo. (I think it's super cool.)
Congratulations to you both for your love and respect for two beautiful countries, languages, and cultures. An open-minded attitude is a wonderful thing. "Ay nos wachamos." (Ahí nos vemos.)
Love love love this video 💕 this was not only shot really well but this is such a special video to share with all of this. I don’t have family in Mexico anymore but this definitely makes me want to learn more about my parents hometown and hear some of their stories.
This was very interesting. All four of my grandparents were born in Mexico but my mom and dad were both born in the U.S. my mothers grandfather was born in Spain so it’s really great that you can trace your roots at least to your grandfather. My mothers dad is from Jalisco and her mom is from Tepic. Unfortunately I never have had the opportunity to visit either of those great cities. To think that your grandfather was an Ejidatario is absolutely amazing. You’re very lucky that your mother took you to visit her puebla and immerse you in your Mexican heritage.
Thank you for sharing with us, we were both very fortunate to have the opportunity to visit Mexico as children. We don't want to lose those roots so those roots called us back. Don't feel like it's too late to come and visit these places you can still come and reconnect with your roots. We hope we can encourage you to do so, feel free to directly message us on Instagram especially for any advice on your mexican travels!
Wow! The house has changed when I went they had a corral to go to bathroom and me being from Chicago and my fam is from Mexico City . I was shock to see the cows on the street and I told Elaine I wasn’t using the bathroom it’ll we went to Villanueva…lol you have to hear my experience someday. Love the video made me want to go back now that there is a bathroom…lol stay safe 😘
i've been racking my brain for the last 40 hours trying to id the snippet of sax music starting about 17:09. "where have i heard that?" it's from Beethoven's Turkish March! 😂
@@EatBailaTravel Yeah, I definitely want to go back for some time. I just gotta get this remote income secured, then I'd like to set up a second home there. I can only learn more about Mexico and improve my Spanish for now. haha

This pulling down if the calf is a ranch skill. You have to get them to the ground to vaccinate them, spray them for ticks, and brand them or tag them so if they get out of the fence you know whose it is. My family is from Tamaulipas and we have a ranch we can no longer visit bc of the cartels occupying the area. But every year we would come at Christmas to do that for my dad’s cows and calves. My cousins would come from San Francisco, New York, Boston, Chicago Dallas and all over to participate in Herraderos every year. What a lovely memory… thank you💕
Thank you so much for commenting and sharing your knowledge with us. We barely scratched the surface with rancho since there so much to learn about life in a rancho. Sorry to hear about what’s going on with your rancho we hope that can be resolved someday.
Ándale, my mom has told me about the right to go back to the rancho and ask for land--almost for free! (Some tax) She's told me the exact thing, you mentioned.
BEAUTIFUL VLOG GUYS!! 🥰 u guys made me miss majadas (howdy neighbor!) hopefully I can take my daughter soon. Never thought I would have a baby let alone her be in my grandparents home. Totally felt all ur emotions Jenny! It’s not the same to go back to the house where your grandparents are from and them not be there 💔 still beautiful to experience where are roots are. VILLANUEVA VLOG!!!!
Omg hey neighbor! My family knows tons of people from Majadas, maybe they even know your family! We didn’t have enough time to fit in a Villanueva vlog but that’s definitely a goal for next time we’re around 😊
You guys do great work. This is my favorite of your videos so far. I didn't know that the person sitting next to you in the thumbnail was your mom, Jenny. I thought you guys had met an "expat" from the US who was visiting Mexico, based on the video description :) Thank you for sharing your family story. It was honest & beautiful.
Wow that’s very interesting you say you didn’t think it was my mom! It makes me super happy that you enjoyed our video! We are going to start working on the next one so stay tuned! Saludos!
Super cool episode. As I watched it and listened to the stories of those interviewed, I was reminded of the stories and characters and experiences of my family in Morelos and Michoacán. Going back to Morelos is always a trip. Never been to Michoacán but I’m going to take my dad back there this year. Thank you for sharing the stories and experiences.
I’m glad you liked the episode! It’s super special to me and makes me happy that others are enjoying it. I hope you get to have those special moments with your dad in Michoacán this year!
I have enjoyed watching your videos. Mexican by birth but raised in the US. We have done our share of traveling in Mexico but still have more to go. Would love to travel to Oaxaca next. We were in Guanajuato for two weeks recently. I still have family there. Hats off to you for moving there. I think it’s awesome. Maybe we will make the jump some day too. 😉
Love the video. You guys should consider adding captions in English for the non Spanish speakers. The default CC generator does not always translate correctly and loses some context in the beautiful conversations

@@EatBailaTravel i dont I'll tell my dad when i see him me and my dad last time we went was in 2018 before that the last time he was there was 55 years ago. When he left to the states my grandfather killed a guy in that town when he was 12 years old something that happened at that time his dad sold some of his land to get him of jail. We stay at a family house on my grandpa side he is a priest in that town. Its crasy after so many years the priest said when we went to the town a lot of people knew we were were family members of my grandpa. He said we owe death there thats why my dad never wanna to go over there ,i noticed there is young kids with guns before u go inside the town . The priest said that they want to know who goes in out of the town but because we were with priest we didn't get bother. I went to jalpa to its very closed by tabasco Zacatecas the pityas are very good over when there in season. I do remember my dad told me Chicago was the first town he work when he was 15 years old when came from mexico.
Girl! Do an episode on growing up Mexican American in Chicago. Most people don't know how many Mexicans live in the Chicago area. There is a huge vibrant culture of Mexican Americans there. Tell us about it!
Where, to Zacatecas? Not really, to be honest. The city of Zacatecas, yes 👍🏼, but I wouldn’t recommend driving or going outside the city of Zacatecas unless you know a local who can help guide you and tell you which areas to avoid and whatnot.
@@EatBailaTravel i want to go to Guadalupe, Ciudad Chauetemoc & ojo caliente i would also like to go visit Aguascalientes any advice please advise👍🏼 your videos are awesome
@@DannyBruceWayne gotcha, I think that’s fine to do, just be sure to avoid the carretera libre (if you’re driving) between Zacatecas and Aguascalientes. It’s not safe - even my family who live there avoid it.

We loved hearing your mother’s stories. Thank you for sharing your personal story with us.
Thank you guys. Saludos Alice & Greg!
Lol
Anyways, keep up the great work Jenny and Kevin y saludos para todos!
Saludos
My maternal grandfather was also from Zacatecas (Nochistlan) I hope I get to visit one day!
We hear it’s beautiful there but the safest at the moment
“ How little do you need to be happy “. thanks.
It's so true sometimes we get lost searching for material things to make us happy but really happiness is around us everywhere!
Thank you for sharing. I will watch this tonight.
Gracias por compartir tus aventuras con nosotros! Very raw and I’m living for it !
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Love the video! Definitely made me feel like I was back in Zacatecas ❤️
Glad you enjoyed it primo looking forward to meeting you guys up soon!
Estuvo muy bonito pasiandonos con ustedes!
Gracias por el tour!🥰🌳🌵🏚
Gracias por verlo y comentar
Wonderful video! It is incredibly relatable. My parents are from a small “Rancho” in Michoacán. Thank you both for sharing!!
We are happy to hear that it is relatable that was our goal for this video. Yes, this might be specifically Jenny’s rancho but hoped people can
Feel and relive some their stories from their ranchos.
What a special video. Thank you for showing us around. ❤️. The tree was very special.
Yes! The tree was such a beautiful story to learn about.
Thanks so much for your comment, Tamara. I hope you get to visit your dad's hometown. I'm sure things are busy with planning a move abroad!
Thanks for your video! It really touched my heart and made me nostalgic for the beautiful childhood experiences in Mexico.
❤️
Such an endearing video. Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us. I enjoyed your mother's stories, and humor as well. I see where you get your beauty from. God bless you during the times that you think of your grandfather. 🌻
Thank you so much for this beautiful comment we’re happy you enjoyed it. It’s one of those masterpieces for us that make us proud of what we’re doing on TH-cam.
Loved your video. You guys are such great story tellers. Beautiful! Zacatecas reminds me of Durango.
Thank you so much Cruz Elena ❤️ haven’t been to Durango yet but it sounds lovely 😊
This made me feel some type of way 😭 my dads family is from Jalpa Zac. Been about 15 years since I last went.
Hopefully you get the opportunity to visit soon. Saludos amigo Juan un fuerte abrazo thank you for watching and commenting.
I have been watching your channel so often and this whole time i didn't know you were from the same area, la calera!, that is crazy
Whaaaaat wow! 😆 so cool!
Amazing video! The homeland is beautiful and I haven't been since the age of about two, hopefully I'll get to experience this someday! Again, you were very well informative throughout!
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. We hope you get the opportunity to visit again soon! Saludos
(I think it's super cool.)
wow what a blessing to have your mom for that long! glad you appreciate this video, these are super special to us personally ❤️🤗
Congratulations to you both for your love and respect for two beautiful countries, languages, and cultures. An open-minded attitude is a wonderful thing. "Ay nos wachamos." (Ahí nos vemos.)
Hehe great to embrace el espanglish 🥰🤗 gracias Paul
Love love love this video 💕 this was not only shot really well but this is such a special video to share with all of this. I don’t have family in Mexico anymore but this definitely makes me want to learn more about my parents hometown and hear some of their stories.
Thank you so much, Veronica. It’s super special to me and makes me happy that others are enjoying it. ❤️
Beautiful story.
Glad you think so! ❤️
Makes me want to go back to Mexico ASAP! Love it ♥️
❤️😊
Oh my gosh hahaha I look forward to hearing that story! Thanks for watching and commenting, madrina fuerte abrazo 🥰
i've been racking my brain for the last 40 hours trying to id the snippet of sax music starting about 17:09. "where have i heard that?" it's from Beethoven's Turkish March! 😂
WOW! we did not know that at ALL!! They use that snippet for one of Mexico's most famous show! Check it out! th-cam.com/video/aBnO5C4wxYQ/w-d-xo.html
Interesting video! I never went to Mexico as a kid, so I gotta reconnect with my roots as an adult. haha.
It’s never too late Agustin! Never too late!
@@EatBailaTravel Yeah, I definitely want to go back for some time. I just gotta get this remote income secured, then I'd like to set up a second home there. I can only learn more about Mexico and improve my Spanish for now. haha

Nice video. Your family’s hometown looks wonderful.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
(Some tax)
She's told me the exact thing, you mentioned.
Michoacán is so beautiful! My partner and I were in Morelia in 2019 during Christmas.
I’m glad you liked the episode! It’s super special to me and makes me happy that others are enjoying it. I hope you get to have those special moments with your dad in Michoacán this year!
Besos y abrazos 😙 a mi tía.

I have enjoyed watching your videos. Mexican by birth but raised in the US. We have done our share of traveling in Mexico but still have more to go. Love the video. You guys should consider adding captions in English for the non Spanish speakers. The default CC generator does not always translate correctly and loses some context in the beautiful conversations
There are! Just turn on the CC for the video 👍🏼😊

Oh nice! By any chance do you know Jose, Nicanor, Esteban Rodriguez from there? They live in chicago but they’re from there Tabasco

Is it safe to go?
Jenny we May be related I’m a Covarrubias
😮 do you have family from San Luis Potosí, too?
