That filter is a charcoal filter meant to absorb any residual Evap vapors that was not burned off during combustion. You will not pass the visual on smog when it comes time to do so. Smog techs know to check for that filter. That filter is the reason most of the new car intake systems are not smog legal because they lack that filter built in. You may gain a slight bit in performance but u will lose Come smog time. That filter is plastic welded into place. Once you remove it, it's damaged for good so you will need to buy a new air box top.
I'm going to do this tomorrow! Excited to see what kind of difference in sound and throttle response I receive because I will also be dropping in a k&n air filter while I'm at it! I have a blizzard pearl white, 6 speed manual btw ;)
I did not have a CEL come on or anything....I removed the extra filter and dropped a K&N filter as well. everything was fine for me. maybe you forgot to connect a sensor back up or something? 🤔
you bought a new car, that has noticably nice wheels already....and youre gonna put "nicer better wheels on it" ?????!!!!!dafuk and that filter doesnt easily come out, it looks like youre breaking it 137 horse power isnt anything to be wowed about either
Back in the day that’s what some stock v8’s made. Invalid argument they have made a replacement for displacement but adding the same technology to larger motors is more expensive and more prone to break. So these little four bangers can be suped up on stock intervals and still hold up really really freaking well.

I have the K&N air filter in my Classic Silver 6spd iM and to me it made a big difference!
+Kris Morrison sweet bro.....it really did help with acceleration. car does seem to breathe better and sounds better too while going full throttle!
I think its because these are low hp engines, but it was night and day when I changed the filter. Its quicker and really sounds so much better
is there a replacement for it?
will this void any kind of warranty from dealer? cause i noticed my check engine light was on afterwards
