Great vid Ian, lovely to see different venues. I travelled from Burnham to Boscastle around the same time and blanked! Great to be spinning and a different view. More away days please! Regards Pete
Hi Gary yes it’s a lovely spot made even better by the beautiful weather! Probably the last really hot day of the year....we had a fab day despite the lack of fish! Cheers Ian
That’s a really lovely video. I enjoyed the change of scenery and what stunning venues they were. The first venue looked a fascinating place to fish and I was surprised you had no hook ups. As ever I look forward to your next instalment.
Cheers Al nice to hear from you again! Me and Chris off to Chesil Sunday in search of a cod or two! Can’t say I’m looking forward to the walk but weather looks promising ! Take care mate cheers Ian
Hi Toby yes we love it there..... chest waders definitely an advantage when fishing the rocks at low water .....I’m just not too confident deep wading in that strong tidal pull!😂 thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Cheers Ian
Great to see you two out again! Great vlog as always - move to save a blank - time is precious!!!! Had a bit of luck just recently with a couple of Starry Smooth Hounds, only to 6lb! But weak on the bass front, due to time - not being able to pump fresh bait!
Hi Simon yes we just saved a blank but really it didn’t matter too much it was just lovely to have a day out is such glorious surroundings. Well done on the smoothound there are still a few about for so late in the year!! Cheers Ian
Great videos fella, well impressed that a lady can make it that far between workshops, regards a Toyota surf owner who is always picking up broken down LRO's 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi! Yes a beautiful place to fish and interesting too. Such a shame the fish didn’t show as they have in the past but glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Cheers Ian
Fished the same place a month ago Ian , I was completely weeded out. Have however caught several bass over the last few weeks just to the left of you at yelland and Fremington mainly on black lug ..great video you managed to catch our one sunny day ..tight lines
Lovely vid bring on summer I live here and there are very if any sand eels in the estuary unlike teignmouth bass go out w tide and bait robbing crabs r always there. Next time fish the high tide. Maybe if you had walked way out to w river meets the sea you would have got lucky. I regularly go on boat and it’s still tough fishing when they are there they are mostly not. Fish westward Ho beach big tide at night for consistency and to avoid surfers. Although you could work a lure between bathers and surfers I’ve used mackerel for bait and have not blanked in 20 sesh since June. In summer I’ve seen them in the waves whilst surfing. Let me know if you’re coming back 👍👍👍👍
Ah thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Yes Chris and I have fished there for many years and found it’s definitely an all or nothing venue....Chris used to live in Braunton. The crabs are a real pain for a bottom bait that’s for sure! Hopefully we will return in the summer! Happy new year cheers ian
At some times of the year if you don't mind wet feet you can walk to Appledore from crow point, some of the best bass Ive had were from where Northern burrows next to Appledore where both rivers meets the sea
dont know how i missed this one since september, what a lovely part of the world, nice video too, shame about the fishes that estuary looked so bassy too,
It’s a lovely spot and we’ve caught there before but you can definitely see the potential!! Any moment I expected a bass to hit the lure.....👎 We will return next year. The eddy in the estuary where we bottom fished is a known spot for winter cod too. Cheers Ian
Great video. After 4 months & nearly 30 trips, I finally caught my first bass on lures yesterday at The Warren, near Folkestone, using a Fiish Black Minnow/Khaki. It was a 51cm beauty that went straight back. It destroyed the lure!
Oh well done!! That’s a great result!! Makes all the hard work worth it! That surge of adrenaline you get when a bass hits your lure is magnificent!! Shame we didn’t catch on our trip but they are there in numbers as we have caught previously but it didn’t spoil our enjoyment! Cheers Ian
@@ianclarkfishing - Thanks. I cast and let it sink for about 10 seconds, then, as I reeled in and gave one twitch, I thought I had a snag (as is usually the case). I held the drag to pull back on the rod and BANG...the rod bent down!! I panicked for a split second, then held it where it was for a couple of seconds and started reeling in slowly.I caught a PB 5lb bass not so long ago on a 14 foot Daiwa Sandstorm beach rod, and there is absolutely no comparison between the 2, retrieval-wise. It was a great feeling. I hope to get a few more before the season's over.
Wow that’s fantastic!! I’ve been lucky to catch a couple on the fly rod too and they do go really well!! Good luck for the rest of the season! Tight lines Ian
@Kent Angling Productions - A couple of seasoned lure fishermen I've spoken to on a few occasions when I've been out said they have caught bass from the concrete arm that goes out in front of the cafe & south of there. They both said this year has been really poor for lure fishing. I don't mind that I've only had one catch from 100+ hours lure fishing - I catch quite a bit bait fishing. I went fishing at the black wall last night (my usual haunt). The weather was horrendous, but I caught an eel, a bass and pouting (2-hook flapper), then a dogfish, a whiting, and finally a 30cm sole. I put them all back. That is the most species I've ever caught in one session, so I was really happy, if not soaking wet!! I'm going to fish by the fishing boats in Hythe tomorrow night. I haven't fished there before, so it'll hopefully produce. Thanks for the pointer, I'll give that area a go.
Hi Ian ,Great video , I Fished at crow point as a child , 70 -80s I remember helping a netsman there pulling in Salmon , still have a picture lol, they would watch for the salmon to jump then with one end of the net held on the beach , row the rest out around the area and back to shore then we all pulled as fast as we could , sometimes it worked sometimes not , did you see any Salmon jumping ? I am heading down there soon for some Bass fishing ,can't wait , thanks for posting this , All the best Andy
Hi Andy have a great time there! We have fished there quite frequently and have seen occasional salmon jumping....last time we saw the netsmen they only caught mullet in the net. It’s a beautiful spot to spend the day! Cheers Ian
Oh yes I’m sure you would catch....it’s rarely too rough but the flow is very fast except for high and low water....would love to hear from you if you try it!! Cheers Ian
Hi Martin thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! We managed to get 5 on our trip but it’s going to get harder as the weather changes!! Cheers Ian
Hi Ken lovely to hear from you!! Yes me and Chris have had some nice winter cod from there years ago on crab I seem to recall! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment cheers Ian
What state of the tide seems to be better for this mark? Ebbing vs flood. I'm heading down tomorrow so a quick reply would be greatly appreciated! Great video, shame you didn't catch. I've heard a lot of bass in the estuary
@@ianclarkfishing i tried fishing the rocks by westward ho today however i got caught by the currents and couldn't lure fish properly. I fished for about 30 minutes after getting snagged and wet even with weed less lures. Maybe I should try low water next time. I was planning an estuary trip tomorrow by greysands and the south gut using soft plastic lures (6inch skerries) Is kayak fishing in the estuary any good? I was gonna go on the kayak for bass tomorrow if the weather permits. I can't make it during the flood so I will have to fish the ebb tide from high water. Would this be okay? Sorry for the rant, I'm a holiday angler and really want to catch my first bass
I’ve not fished westward ho side before but the current in the estuary is very very strong except at low water. I would recommend going to crow point and fishing the rocks in the video over low water! It’s still a bit early in the year to expect many bass on lures so don’t get too excited! Cheers
@@ianclarkfishing hmm thanks for the advice. I'm thinking of starting at greysands and moving around the estuary whilst also fishing crow point like you suggested too! Are there any big bass? Or are they all small schoolies? Is a 6inch soft plastic too big? Would jigging soft plastics work from a kayak or would cast and retrieve be better?
Best bass we have had was 8lb a few years ago....mainly 2 to 3 lb. They chase sandeel so a big lure will be fine! Cast and retrieve probably best to begin with! It’s a beautiful spot even if you don’t catch!!! Tight lines cheers ian
Great vid Ian, lovely to see different venues. I travelled from Burnham to Boscastle around the same time and blanked! Great to be spinning and a different view. More away days please! Regards Pete
Thanks Pete we had a lovely day out in glorious surroundings! I’m sure you did too! A nice antidote to the current mess we are all in! Cheers Ian
proper fishing vid , shows its not all about catching ,looked a few lovely spots , might have to try them my self ,thanks both ,ATB
Definitely! Just lovely to be out...probably one of my favourite videos despite lack of fish! We both had a great time...take care mate! Ian

Thanks Glen we love north Devon. Just a shame it’s a long way from home but we had a thoroughly enjoyable day....cheers Ian
looks a cracking place to fish thanks for showing
Hi Danny yes it screams fish but unfortunately they didn’t play!!!! ☹️ cheers Ian
Beautiful looking spot there!
Hi thanks for watching!! Yes we love it there....shame the fish didn't play on the day but we will return!! Cheers Ian
Great effort lads a couple of top venues there, I find a pair of chest waders to be really helpful with the lure fishing

Thanks mate yes we struggled to catch but had a great day out!!! Hopefully next time....but it’s not always about catching!!! Cheers Ian
I'm often fishing opposite Crow point, from Appledore or even northam burrows. It's a cracking estuary to fish
