In the process of building mine. First time for me spraying clear over decals. I took your advice and got the 1261. Went on great and the tank decal is perfect!

Beautifully done, takes me back to my youth. I haven't built a Tamiya kit for 30 odd years but now want to do another one

I have built Tamiya race bikes in the past and it is amazing the level of detail they were able to put into the kit. Very nice!

I'm so glad a company like Tamiya exists. They really are the gold standard for out-of-the-box models. I remember the first time I built a Tamiya kit. It was the f-14d Tomcat. And I had just got done building the F18 by Revell. It's like night and day the difference between those two companies.

I built new Ducatis for half a decade, and the detail on this model is amazing! One thing that stood out is the gold pieces on the engine covers need more brown in them. Magnesium , tough color to match👍

Can't hardly wait until it gets out and start to build it. I thought the normal 1199 was already a beauty but in this colour scheme it''s even better. You''re right building a motorcycle takes more time than any other kit but the reward is awesome when finished. Just like the H2R I've build.

I've always wanted to put one of these together. The amount of detail they put into these models is absolutely amazing. Great work on the final product! The Panigale is just an absolute marvel of a bike from an engineering and design standpoint. Not really a surprise from Ducati but they really nailed it with this bike.

Nice build! A few years ago, I have watched in horror the fairing decals crack/obliterate right in front of my eyes after a layer of Tamiya TS-13 was applied. As you noted and suggested (and I agree 100%) steer away from TS-13 over decals. I actually do not apply any clear coat after the Tamiya gloss paint is done, until the parts have their decals on. I usually wait 3 or 4 days after decaling to apply a clear coat. I normally use the Mr Hobby clear coats (UV or not), the Model Master clear that you used, or Future Acrylic floor polish. The key is thin layers and refrain from judging the finish look on the first or 2nd coats! Use those coats to sand off any fuzz, insects, hairs, dust that land on it before it dries! Your last coat is the one that will make it shine. Again, nice build!

  • @jimtitus179

    Wow Andy, just wow.
I was amazed that you handled the gloss painted plastic.
I’ve handled gloss colored plastic after 24 hours and still managed to get finger prints on the build.
That was long long ago, so maybe the paint quality helps.
    See you soon.

Previously, I commented about the five commercial interruptions that appeared in Andy's build video for the Tamiya Ducati. I received a reply from a Norman M. pointing out that such You Tube ads provide revenue to the owner. I had no idea about the inner workings of You Tube. I sincerely apologize for my lack of information. NO ONE enjoys Andy's channel more than I. It is no surprise whatsoever to see the number of subscribers he has and that the number continues to rise. Andy is THE best You Tube modeler bar none! I will never again complain about interruptions to his videos as long as they are providing some sort of revenue stream for Andy. He certainly deserves it for his fantastic videos no matter what subject he might choose to share with us, his loyal subscribers. Sorry, Andy. Thanks, Norman M., for setting me straight!

the good thing here and the reason why i love andys work so much, is, that he didnt make things to complicated. he has shown me the way to build kits simple but with an awesome look anyways. yes plasmo is really great, but i have no chance to use his techiqes, because i am by far not skilled enough to do his crazy things.

Exhaust on this bike is titanium. So around bends you need to add blues and other colours. These are the areas that heat up not where the pipes Join. Also needs panel liner for radiator. I don’t build models but I did as a kid. I do however collect motorcycles. I think I should take up this hobby again after seeing masters built kits like u.

I enjoyed your video - I plan on building this myself soon, and your video helped a lot. I realize in this video you focused on spray cans... but for clear coat, I find (airbrush) GX 100 Super Clear III gives excellent results. (They do have a Mr. Super Clear in a can). The polish I use is from Griot's Garage. Plastic Polish, and their BOSS Perfecting Cream using a microfiber Dremel polishing wheel - gives a glass mirror finish.
