To summarize, before someone's 30, a smaller number of years makes a much bigger difference in terms of mental development, because before that point your brain isn't completely finished developing, and the less developed your brain is the easier it is for predators to take advantage of you. Now, since you seem to be having trouble getting this, time for a quick lesson. During childhood, the brain isn't done developing. Around 18-20, most of the brain aside from the frontal lobe - the region in charge of risk assement, emotional regulation, and impulse control - finishes developing. The frontal lobe, on the other hand, isn't dobe until you're 25-30. This, is why teenagers, people in their early twenties, people in their late twenties, and people over 30 tend to behave differently - especially in regards to things under the control of the frontal lobe. Once someone has a fully developed brain, if they want to be in a relationship with someone a decade older than them, it's not that big a deal because their brains are more or less the same developmentally. If someone's frontal lobe isn't finished developing yet though, they aren't on an equal playing feild yet - especially if they're still in the 18-20 range of just barely having the rest of their brain development finished, and it's still a lot easier for older people to take advantage of the fact that they're still young and reckless so to speak, making them easier marks for those with less savory intentions. Not to mention that MOST OF US in our mid 20s still see them as "childlike" even though they're technically adults, and thus would feel weird about seeing them that way. Would I immediately be suspicious of a 22 year old in a relationship with an 18 year old? Depends on the context - if they started dating as soon as they were legal, which is a major red flag that I would find very alarming. If they just happened to meet at school or work or something, that's a lot more reasonable, but still feels odd, so I completely get why many 22 year olds would find the idea of dating someone that young repulsive. (Personally I wouldn't want to date anyone under 20, they're barely even an adult before that point, and might still be developing parts of their brain other than the frontal lobe.)

Even for the people who don’t like her, it’s genuinely delusional to believe that there aren’t imperfect victims, and sometimes even shitty victims, but they’re still a damn victim. Bad things happen to shitty people too, I don’t understand why that’s so hard for some people to grasp.
Her behavior since the beginning of her TH-cam career shows signs of childhood trauma. She never had adults protect her and show her what's right or wrong. Even when i was a teen and didn't like her, i could tell and feel empathy. She has never thrown any type of this kind of accusations towards anyone. So even if she is a pathological liar, which is the result of abuse, there's capability of raw honesty, and there's evidence backing her up. The shame and insults that have been thrown at her are unjustified, and her past wrongs dont justify a 25 year old Cody taken advantage of a 17 year old Tana. While i dont think she is a good person, my compassion and support don't stop on people I like o find "morally correct." And i wish people would do the same.

I don't think she was pushed into youtube. I think it was her choice. I think she didn't have much parental guidance and had a rough childhood. as someone who had issues with Tana in the past, she got me right in the heart with that one. I am currently dealing with 'stress' according to my doctor but have had absolutely no idea. high blood pressure, silent panic attacks. "trauma lives in the body". Tana has gotten so wise and funny and well-behaved the past few years, it's wild how little recognition she's gotten for that.

You can’t really tell someone how they feel or should feel about a situation. As someone who has had a lot of similar experiences to Tana, I understand where she’s coming from. At the time, it felt good. Being noticed and “chosen” by people you look up to. But looking back, it’s not traumatic… it’s disgusting. At the time we didn’t understand why it was happening. Now we do. It doesn’t mean it has to traumatize us, just that it recontextualizes it & we know better now. The best we can do is talk about it & try to help other young people not fall into the same situation.
Tana also just turned 26, in my experience, you don’t categorize those as traumatic memories until you get to the age of the adult men that screwed you. So it kinda makes sense she’s just unpacking it now

It is truly disheartening to cross paths with people like that. My first experience with one was when I was on a holiday with my family. I was 17 at the time and a 25 year old, who had come to work with his girlfriend at the resort and pretty much had access to the whole place, ended up being really fucking creepy with me on the dance floor one night (my mom was next to me the entire time and I was wearing baggy jeans and a hoody but he still acted the way he did). The entire time I had left on that holiday I spent being anxious af to bump into him. I was afraid to go to the restaurant 😭. Even though he did not go any further than words and weird ass behavior I felt deeply hurt. Those people are just weirdos without much moral values.
Ok most of my friends are 16_18 but tbh I was homeschooled and didn't go to college still wouldn't date one though that's gross. Also I am severely depressed and the only place I go to is a basketball class which I just started.

I wish he had used a condom because I barely knew him but I never had PTSD from it or anything, I just felt annoyed and vaguely grossed out. It wasn’t a matter of me having gone through worse- all I had really dealt with to that point was bullying and partners cheating- it was just a matter of me not viewing sex as this big serious thing to begin with. During it I just felt like “ugh, this is boring and annoying”, and after the fact I was just like “wish I didn’t have that body on my body count”. All this to say, just because society deems something generally traumatizing doesn’t mean every victim finds it personally traumatizing, and it doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with past trauma.

The fact that none of these men who prey on minors have teenage boys as friends shows that they know damn well they are too young to have a relationship with. It’s disgusting and I will never understand how grown men, especially ones with a following who can easily get a grown WOMEN to be with, goes after minors. I am 29, and even when I was 25, the thought of just flirting with a teenage boy makes me sick.
I worked at a pizza place when I was 17 and there was a 24 year old coworker that was always making eyes at me and asking me to hang out and all this stuff. My 17 year old naive self was so flattered. My mom told me I should not be flattered and there’s a damn good reason no girls his own age want him. This douche told coworkers we slept together, and we didn’t, he had a panic attack and said when I was half dressed”I don’t want to go to jail.” He literally went to work the next f-king day and said”guess who got some from that hot young girl, Melissa?” Im 35 now and I still cannot understand how he thought that was a flex. Truly sick. Not only to lie, but to brag about something like that if it had been true, what the hell? I was so humiliated I quit that job.

The plastic the hair is attached to are the tracks, and they’re meant to be covered by real hair so they can blend in. If you look at Tana’s head at that point in the video you can see a bunch of lines all leading into her ponytail, that’s her not knowing how to style her hair to properly cover the tracks. The male equivalent would most likely be a dude using clippers to shave his head for the first time and missing a spot in the back.

I watched Rachel Oates make a video on this, and she highlighted how even if his actions were done almost a decade ago, the manner in which he responded to Tana after her expressing her feelings about it shows he hasn't changed- that his priority was not the victim but himself. A lot of people would have understood if he genuinely repented his actions, and if he directed an apology- even if privately- to Tana, and then retired. To summarize, before someone's 30, a smaller number of years makes a much bigger difference in terms of mental development, because before that point your brain isn't completely finished developing, and the less developed your brain is the easier it is for predators to take advantage of you.
Now, since you seem to be having trouble getting this, time for a quick lesson. During childhood, the brain isn't done developing. Around 18-20, most of the brain aside from the frontal lobe - the region in charge of risk assement, emotional regulation, and impulse control - finishes developing. The frontal lobe, on the other hand, isn't dobe until you're 25-30. This, is why teenagers, people in their early twenties, people in their late twenties, and people over 30 tend to behave differently - especially in regards to things under the control of the frontal lobe. Once someone has a fully developed brain, if they want to be in a relationship with someone a decade older than them, it's not that big a deal because their brains are more or less the same developmentally. If someone's frontal lobe isn't finished developing yet though, they aren't on an equal playing feild yet - especially if they're still in the 18-20 range of just barely having the rest of their brain development finished, and it's still a lot easier for older people to take advantage of the fact that they're still young and reckless so to speak, making them easier marks for those with less savory intentions. Not to mention that MOST OF US in our mid 20s still see them as "childlike" even though they're technically adults, and thus would feel weird about seeing them that way. Would I immediately be suspicious of a 22 year old in a relationship with an 18 year old? Depends on the context - if they started dating as soon as they were legal, which is a major red flag that I would find very alarming. If they just happened to meet at school or work or something, that's a lot more reasonable, but still feels odd, so I completely get why many 22 year olds would find the idea of dating someone that young repulsive. (Personally I wouldn't want to date anyone under 20, they're barely even an adult before that point, and might still be developing parts of their brain other than the frontal lobe.)

Her behavior since the beginning of her TH-cam career shows signs of childhood trauma. She never had adults protect her and show her what's right or wrong. Even when i was a teen and didn't like her, i could tell and feel empathy. She has never thrown any type of this kind of accusations towards anyone. So even if she is a pathological liar, which is the result of abuse, there's capability of raw honesty, and there's evidence backing her up. The shame and insults that have been thrown at her are unjustified, and her past wrongs dont justify a 25 year old Cody taken advantage of a 17 year old Tana. While i dont think she is a good person, my compassion and support don't stop on people I like o find "morally correct." And i wish people would do the same.
As a woman, I am just *tired* of being let down by male creators, artists, etc. I myself have been sexually assaulted, and my trust in men has been low for the past few years. Recently, I was beginning to rebuild that trust, but seeing shit like this is just a huge setback for me.

You can’t really tell someone how they feel or should feel about a situation. As someone who has had a lot of similar experiences to Tana, I understand where she’s coming from. At the time, it felt good. Being noticed and “chosen” by people you look up to. But looking back, it’s not traumatic… it’s disgusting. At the time we didn’t understand why it was happening. Now we do. It doesn’t mean it has to traumatize us, just that it recontextualizes it & we know better now. The best we can do is talk about it & try to help other young people not fall into the same situation.
Tana also just turned 26, in my experience, you don’t categorize those as traumatic memories until you get to the age of the adult men that screwed you. So it kinda makes sense she’s just unpacking it now

It is truly disheartening to cross paths with people like that. My first experience with one was when I was on a holiday with my family. I was 17 at the time and a 25 year old, who had come to work with his girlfriend at the resort and pretty much had access to the whole place, ended up being really fucking creepy with me on the dance floor one night (my mom was next to me the entire time and I was wearing baggy jeans and a hoody but he still acted the way he did). The entire time I had left on that holiday I spent being anxious af to bump into him. I was afraid to go to the restaurant 😭. Even though he did not go any further than words and weird ass behavior I felt deeply hurt. Those people are just weirdos without much moral values.

Idk, I’ve been sexually assaulted while extremely high on weed twice by the dealer- only reason I don’t call it r*pe is because I’m not confident I actually said the word ‘no’ (this was 7 years ago) and because it didn’t really traumatize me like that either. I wish he had used a condom because I barely knew him but I never had PTSD from it or anything, I just felt annoyed and vaguely grossed out. It wasn’t a matter of me having gone through worse- all I had really dealt with to that point was bullying and partners cheating- it was just a matter of me not viewing sex as this big serious thing to begin with. During it I just felt like “ugh, this is boring and annoying”, and after the fact I was just like “wish I didn’t have that body on my body count”.
All this to say, just because society deems something generally traumatizing doesn’t mean every victim finds it personally traumatizing, and it doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with past trauma.

The plastic the hair is attached to are the tracks, and they’re meant to be covered by real hair so they can blend in. If you look at Tana’s head at that point in the video you can see a bunch of lines all leading into her ponytail, that’s her not knowing how to style her hair to properly cover the tracks. The male equivalent would most likely be a dude using clippers to shave his head for the first time and missing a spot in the back.

It sucks because yesterday I was searching for one of his videos to watch while I cleaned my room, just to stumble across a video exposing what he did. It’s lame being a huge fan of someone and then getting let down like that.

A lot of people would have understood if he genuinely repented his actions, and if he directed an apology- even if privately- to Tana, and then retired.
