  • On the early morning hours of September 11th, 2015 we got one of the best Northern Lights displays of the year in Alaska! This is the results of that magical night in real-time.
    Apologies for some of the jerky camera moves. It's incredibly difficult to concentrate on smooth moves when this is going on above you. ;-)

    You have no idea how happy I was to find this! I was there, watching this with my jaw hanging open the whole time. I'd just arrived in Fairbanks that evening (the 10th) with the dream of seeing the aurora. So much more than I ever dreamed.

    This is so unworldly that it almost doesn't even seem real. However, the beauty of it is just spectacular.

    Oh man.... that was beyond amazing! I'm so emotional right now watching this, music is bang on perfect too. I've never seen the aurora move so fast in real time!! How 16 people disliked this I'll never know.... PS. I love your live cam you have set up, thankyou so much for giving me the opportunity to see such beautiful lights, sat here in the comfort of my home. Rarely can the aurora be seen in central UK :(

    Wow so beautiful. Thank you for posting these Aurora videos in real time! I was always looking to see how they looked without the timelapse and they are hard to find real time. Great videos!

    This is fantastic, thank you so much for creating this. I just returned from a week in Fairbanks, and I was completely blown away by displays just like this on several different nights! There was no way to capture the gorgeous colors and movement with my camera, so I'm thrilled that you did. Now I can show my friends what I experienced. Thank you!

    So mersmerizing and magical (as you state in your description). I've seen Aurora Borealis when I lived in Maine, but only once.... and it was amazing too, but THIS! This far surpasses what I've seen. I'm sure you were entranced in the moment. I would have been for sure. I know it's a magnetic flame caused by polarity charged gases in the upper atmosphere, but there's something so mystical and wondrous. An energy that seems sourced in the Heavens. I love it!

    amazing! i live in seattle but used to live much further south, in phoenix AZ. i have always wanted to see the northern lights even if its not super bright, but it would be cool to get the rarer red walls with the lower greens, but the way they shimmer is spectacular. every night that i cant fall asleep i look out this north facing window in hopes of seeing a mere haze of them, its magical. but we moved only 2 months ago so we will probably go next year.

    I am armed and ready with the A7Sii and same lens. Not long to go and I will be in Lapland for a few weeks and I cant contain my excitement. This video is my inspiration. I have never used a full frame camera nor videod anything like this before. I take a lot of photos of the Aurora once a year but never video. I even invested in a slider and decent tripod. I have very little time to learn to use the camera so any tips would be welcomed from all the experts :-) I love your videos. They are the best.

    aurora borealis and australis has to be one of the most amazing wonders. Next to Angel Falls they're at the top of my bucket list to see. Do you happen to know how far down one can see the lights? I'm from Ohio and I do recall a day many many years ago we were able to vaguely see hints of it due to a solar storm, but it was a one time thing and I just remember the sky being such a bright red. I was still very young at the time. How far north do you begin to see them on a nightly basis?

    • @LeandroMattos00
      @LeandroMattos00 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Amelia Skye They say Fairbanks, AK is one of the best places to see them. Unfortunately they never happen on a 'nightly basis'. I'm here in Faribanks for 3 nights now (the best months are September and March during the Equinox) and even though I was at the right time and place, I did not experience them. It's sad but it's nature. One can't predict when exactly they will lit up the sky. It totally relies on clear skies and the solar winds (measured by the KP index - the higher, the more probable you are to see them in the sky). Some websites have average forecast for the index such as the UAF site www.gi.alaska.edu/auroraforecast | In Fairbanks, I'd totally recommend driving up on the Steese Highway al the way up the the Skiland area, plenty of parking, up in the hills and total darkness.

      @EdmontonRails 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Generally they are dim through most of the night, you can actually mistake them for clouds. Every now and then they pick up for about 5 minutes with a bright green and purple band that spreads across the sky and dims again. Very rarely they are bright through out the night.

    This video is absolutely amazing! But I have one great question, they are as bright as we see in the video, or do you use a very light sensitive camera plus some post edition to delete excesive light? Like when people takes photos of the stars with long exposure and we can see ALL the stars. Im not sure about how much accurate is the video in comparison with what do you see being there.
    Again, the video is simply amazing
