I grew up there.. Its been a long time since I climbed those steps.. brought back lots of memories.. Its so beautiful in Bucks County.. Thanks for showing Bowmans Tower..
any time one of my videos brings back memories for someone it's a victory. Thank you for taking the time to write as well as for watching. I plan to do many more videos in Bucks County. It's rapidly becoming one of my favorite sections of Pennsylvania!
Hi Raymond...It was my first time There and I loved it. I'm thinking that I'll head back in the fall. I believe there are several hiking trails in the area as well. Thank you for watching, my friend!
We used to cut school and explore the tower during the early '70s. No guard shack and no charge. We were the only ones up there many times. The cinder block elevator shaft wasn't there back then. I don't think the security bars were there either
We used to do that too in the late 70's . The handrail rattled and shook . We were on top once when a young man scaled the outside of the tower and then perched himself on that turret.
Especially since we were up there smokin' the weed . We had no idea he was climbing until he came over the rail . We were blown away !😂@@jennsylvania1633
Hello Heidi yup, elevator is still out of order, but I wanted to use the steps anyway, so it wasn't in any way a bummer. Yeah, the views from atop the tower are pretty awesome. Thank you for watching!
Jenn, you find some of the coolest places to explore! About the 1:50 mark in the video, looking straight up the tower it reminded me of, “Rapunzel, Rapunzel! Let down your hair," from Grimm’s fairy Tale. I like that you seek these adventures out not only to enhance your own knowledge, but share that knowledge with your audience. Thank you! Daniel.
Hi Daniel, yes, it does have a fairy tale look to it, doesn't it? I really enjoy exploring, and I usually learn something along the way. Maintaining a healthy dose of curiosity keeps life interesting, and if viewers enjoy coming along with me, well, that just makes these explorations so much more gratifying. Thank you for the comment, my friend!
@@jennsylvania1633 Curiosity is a good thing. I like your channel because I am curious to what you're going to find around the next turn on the trail ! 🙂
I live not far from Bowmens tower. I remember back in the the early 70s when i was about 1st,2nd grade going with my parents and siblings. We walked all the way up to the top and there was just a single small hand rail on the inside i was so scared i hugged the wall side all the way up ! Also going into the tower my parents said ..Look kids its Don Meredith ( of the Dallas Cowboys) and he was with a pretty girl at the time . I was waiting for him to do the iced tea plunge off the top from one of his tv commercials. Lol .i remember that like it was last year!!! I love history and love your choices. Keep up the VERY good work. I just found your show today 8/4/24 and watched a few already ! Most of them ive been too since i grew up not to far from them.
Hi Neal "Don Meredith" I haven't heard that name in years. I remember him on Monday Night Football. Thank you for sharing some of your memories as well as for your kind comments. : )
I didn't see Don Meredith there, but as kids we climbed that inside wall, circular stair with that single, skinny, wrought iron railing many times. Loved it every time! Was kind of upset when they put the elevator in and left raw cinder block showing.
Hi Dave! Thank you for stopping by. I don't really have a fear of heights, but even if I did, climbing the tower probably would have been okay. You are enclosed the whole climb up and when you get out on the roof, there's high fencing. It's almost impossible to look straight down So, if you ever find yourself in Bucks County, you should check it out. The views are B-E-A-U-tiful! ; ) Thanks for the comment, my friend. It's much appreciated!
You and Tony made me smile each one of you wanting to pay for admission. This tower is so neat. When I was in this area over the winter it was not opened, so I really liked seeing what it looked like to climb it. Amazing views from the top.
Anytime a video can make someone smile, I'm happy! Funny thing is, I was going to edit that out...sometimes a little nuttiness is good in a video I suppose. 🤪 You'll have to go back this year. I was pressed for time but had I more time the day I made this video, I would have hiked up to it. I believe there is a nature preserve on the grounds and it's supposed to be really pretty.
This is really a great view of the area. I visited this park a few years ago and i got there on a busy day so going down the steps was interesting with having to squeeze by people. The tour of the old mill and homestead is cool too if you have time the next time you are in the area.
Hey Ronman, I'm glad that I got there early...I can't imagine sharing the stairs with a crowd of people...lol... I appreciate your suggestion. I'm in Bucks County often, so I'll definitely look into visiting the old Mill and homestead. I always enjoy a look into the past! Thanks for watching, my friend!
Hi John! No, I have never been there, but I've heard that it's really nice. It's supposed to be beautiful, so, yeah, I should absolutely do a video there. Have you been there? Do you have a video of it on your site?
What a view Jenn. I've been to the tower but never climbed it. I certainly thought the tower was older than 1930. Great work and nice job with the information. Stay safe out there my friend.
Hi Kevin, yeah, it's one of those places in which one wants to believe the folk lore ...that said, it's still a pretty impressive tower. Thanks for the encouraging comment. It's very much appreciated!
Bowman’s tower. Glad you got the year of construction in 1929. Otherwise I would have thought it might be a “shot tower”for 13:26 making musket balls, after the lead ball let it drop to the bottom to let it cool before hitting a tray at the bottom. So Bowman’s is a tribute to the crossing/ observation deck which is nice
Hi Timothy You know what? I never knew what a shot tower was until I looked it up after reading your comment. It makes sense...it does look like it would have been used for something like that. Thanks for the comment and thank you for encouraging me to learn something new. : )
Hi Sparky, so much history in that area of PA as well as New Jersey. I'm in the area often, so yeah, Goat Hill sounds like somewhere I would like to check out. Thank you for the recommendation. I'm glad that you enjoy the channel...thank you for watching!
Lol, "Tony, I got this"... Tony: "I got this". 🤣 Both of you are too kind! Excellent information on Bowmans Tower. I've heard of it, but I've never been there, so it's cool to see it. Oh no, the elevator is out of order. 😄 Stairs, it be. It's so cool that you were the first ones there! That's the best. The windows and archways are very pretty. Nice views! ⚠️ BEES! 🐝😱 The star is neat. Great tower tour! Have a great weekend! 😃👊
lol...The "I got this" part was almost edited out, but I couldn't keep from laughing, so I decided to keep it in. I'm glad that you found it amusing. It's a pretty cool place to visit if you ever find yourself in Bucks County. Thanks for watching as well as the wonderful comment. Have a great day, my friend!
Hi Elizabeth, I can imagine they were pretty awesome trips. It's such a nice area. I need to go back and do some hiking. Thank you for watching, my friend!
In the good ol days , there was no elevator, no guard rails , no bars to keep the whackos from "jumping" , no guard shack outside , no charge for admittance , just a helluva hike up & down those stairs. The end of the 20th century ruined the tower & another of my childhood memories...
Hello I get it. I too sometimes long for the way things used to be. More dangerous perhaps, but people were more responsible, and I think we experienced a lot more freedom than kids growing up today. Thanks for sharing your memory and also thank you for watching!
Hi, May I share the most important news you will ever hear in your entire life? God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus Christ(Y'shua Ha' Mashiach) from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. He was put into a tomb for 3 days, and then Abba Father raised Jesus to life and He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must all sincerely receive Jesus to be a true child of God. It says in John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Will you genuinely believe on Christ Jesus and truly receive Him today, before it is too late?

Begun in 1929 opened in 1931. It was built to represent the crossing of Delaware River by George Washington and his Troops.
that is correct! Growing up, I always thought it was built in the 1700's.
You sure do know your history!
Not sure where your located at the Tower, however George crossed over at the Morrisville PA side of Delaware River over to the Trenton side.
Hi James, oh okay, it's not east to tell where the actual crossing took place from the tower. Thank you for taking the time to comment.
