  • This talk is one of six talks that can be found on the DVD entitled "Freedom Through Understanding" available from lamayeshe.com.
In Lama Yeshe's and Lama Zopa Rinpoche's first trip to Europe they offered a weekend seminar based on their famous month-long Kopan meditation courses. Preceded by Lama Yeshe's lecture on meditation at Kensington Town Hall, these teachings at Royal Holloway College, Surrey, encompass the entire Buddhist path to enlightenment.
The teachings on this DVD set can be found in the book also entitled "Freedom Through Understanding."

Have you watched this wonderful talk yet?
Lama Zopa Rinpoche says, "Before listening to this teaching you need to cultivate a pure motivation, because the action of listening to teachings has to be different from your usual life activities. If your listening to teachings-an action that you feel is special compared to what you usually do-is no different from or higher than your regular daily activities, such as eating, drinking, sleeping and so forth, then this particular action, listening to teachings, is actually not special, higher or holy." -from Freedom Through Understanding, Chapter 5
Freedom Through Understanding is based in part upon these video teachings. You can read the entire text on the LYWA website here www.lamayeshe.com/shorty/go/FreedomThroughUnderstanding/

I was just looking at this and had to share - an Australian Spiritual master called Sri Avinash is transmitting the enlightened state, what he calls the Satori Transmission. You can see in video people are experiencing a what enlightenment feels like through him within minutes. 💖 I know I sound crazy but it's actually true! #sriavinashsatoritransmission 🙇💞

This is a wonderful and inspiring talk indeed, thank you for posting it.
I listened to all the video - wouldn't it be more accurate if you would title this teaching as a teaching about the 3 types of suffering ? It is an inspiring talk but it's not about motivation - except the few minutes in the beginning. Or maybe this subject ( the 3 types of suffering) can be mentioned in the description - it would help people that are searching for this specific subject.
Thank you for your amazing work :) !
May all sentient beings achieve enlightenment !

By considering suffering we are motivated to find an end to suffering, permanently. This is the spiritual path.

+bren zasey The beginning prayers aren't subtitled (they are in Tibetan) but the subtitles start when the teaching begins at around 8:25... The subtitles are actually part of the video itself... Sorry for any confusion! Hope this helps and please be welcome to come back for more...We do try to subtitle all our video and if the subtitles have been done on TH-cam, the "cc" button will always be working by default... And perhaps also check out Lama Yeshe Wisdom Archive on Facebook for more links to written Dharma and lots of community comments and discussions?

I don’t understand how people can see this man as a teacher! He can’t even follow through with one phrase. And why is he constantly dangling around and making weird sounds with his throat?

Have you been able to gain understanding by now? Do you wish to understand? Are you aware of your sufferings? Can you step outside suffering and continue with compassionate calm wisdom?
Best wishes and much love from deep within. 😊🫶
