- In this video, I talk to you about a Samsung freezer that is not cooling. If your Samsung freezer is not getting cold, then hopefully this video will help you out. There are many reasons why a fridge or freezer will not cool down, but I tell you the specific process that worked for me when my Samsung freezer started to get warmer and wouldn't cool down. With that being said, it is simply a process of troubleshooting and trying out different things until you find something that will work and fix your specific freezer problem.

Thank you so much for this. I was freaking out because my fridge is almost like yours. Mine has no handles and the power button is on the inside of the door vs the top. I had a Samsung Fridge in my other home, and it's been 10 years...not a problem whatsoever. That's why I bought another one for this home. I followed your directions about unplugging it...and the freezer immediately started cooling. It was 31 degrees. I hung around for about 10 minutes and it was already down to 24 degrees. Will check in the morning. Thanks so much for this!!!!!
Every single Samsung appliance I bought (just over 2 years ago) have broken except for the dryer (and the washer and dryer tie clothes in knots and put sheets and blankets into tight balls). My refrigerator/freezer, oven, built-in microwave, dishwasher, and dryer broke. The oven has broken 3 times. The dishwasher twice. The first time it was 3 months old and needed a new motherboard. It took almost 4 months to get the part. I'm ready to replace all of these horrible appliances. They look nice, all are stainless steel, and I paid a lot but they are all garbage. I will never buy a Samsung appliance again.
Our Samsung dishwasher died in less than 2 yrs. The icemaker on the fridge is useless. The knobs on the stove have all been replaced. Never again!!!

@@happyinparis absolutely! I also advise all my family and friends who are in the market to buy new appliances to stay away from Samsung and LG. They are complete garbage. They should stick to making mobile phones and computer hardware.

According to the manual and samsung's web site, power freeze only makes it create ice faster does not help cool the freezer like the power cool option so unplugging it probably fixed it

We had a Samsung freezer defrost on its own too. When we called for support, they also told us to unplug it for a while, and things are working again now. But for an unknown number of hours the freezer was not cooling, popsicles melted, frozen meat/chicken now has an UNKNOWN SAFETY STATUS and needs to be thrown out, etc. Worst of all, we don't want to stock up again with a lot of expensive frozen food because we don't know when this might happen again next. WHY ISN'T THERE AN ALARM GOING OFF WHEN THE FREEZER EXCEEDS A CERTAIN TEMPERATURE? Does Samsung have such a feature? Thank you.

Excellent comment for a critical feature that should be on every freezer! I bought a refrigerator thermometer and do it that way for now. I have the same problem. Freezer will not go below 22 degrees Fahrenheit. Popsicles, ice cream, or any sugary product needs a minimum temperature of 15 degrees Fahrenheit to maintain firmness. I will clean out my Samsung refrigerator and let it rest for 3 days just in case ice is building up somewhere where I can't see it. It worked when I had ice built up on the bottom section where tray is pulled out. By the third day, I heard a whoosh with water dumping into tray at back of refrigerator. It worked. I see no ice build up, but I'll give it the 3 day rest anyway and see if freezer will operate normal again.

We have a Samsung American ~Style fridge freezer and sometimes in the past if too much items packed in it wouldnt freeze and digital display would flash. i would then have to clean the purple sensors at the back and move items around and it would be fine. 2 days ago however it did this same thing and items were frozen at the bottom of freezer but soft at the top. The freezer is on, i can hear it and display has gone from 14C to 13C and not flashing no more. It is cooling but very very slow. I just hope it isnt kaput. I will try the ice on coils method and unplug it for a day, let it thaw, clean it and see what happends then.
Unfortunately that did not solve my problem. Later, I had a technician come out, and he said that my fridge was running low (and was almost out) of freon. One way to detect that (without any high-tech equipment) is to measure the temperature of the condensor coils in the back of the machine after it has been running for 15 minutes or more. They should be at least 15-20°F warmer than the surrounding air. In my case, they were only about 3 or 4 degrees above ambient. Estimated repair cost: $600 or more. I declined and went and bought a different brand refrigerator

I've had this fridge 2 years and at least once a month everything in my freezer gets thrown out cause it's melted or thawed out. The temperature still shows 0 degrees but my ice cream is melted goo! I paid for the extended warranty and every time their only advice is to unplug for 30 seconds. It works but why do I have to do it every month?!

This doesn't "fix" the reasons why the freezer doesn't work just resets the freezer so it can stop working again with some more food in it. We just bought our fridge last week and this is twice the freezer stopped working without an alarm that the freezer temp is high. You'd think Samsung would build an alarm into this appliance so people can take action before food is ruined, gonna call Samsung warranty but my expectations are low
These Samsung freezer refrigerator all have the same problem. You'll freezer will unfreeze without you knowing and very quickly. Samsung plays dumb to this and it's been a constant problem of all models.., especially chest freezers. They replaced a ice maker which I never used and cost me 200 bucks. This was about 1 week after the 1 year warranty expired and they wouldn't budge. They don't stand behind their product and I refuse to buy any Samsung product. I also had terrible problems with Samsung dryers as well. I had 2 heating elements go within 2 months time. I now own a Speed Queen.
Same here, few days after the year expired, my freezer stop freezing. Ice cream is super soft, meets get a little more cold but it's getting worse. I can't effort to get it fix, I am going to try to unplug it

Pull it out, use a screwdriver and remove the aluminum cover on the bottom, the condenser at the back may be covered it filth. Clean it with a soft bristle brush and a vacuum. Be careful not to bend too many fins. It can’t give off heat if there is no airflow across the condenser. This was my issue on my Samsung when the fridge worked but the freezer did not.
I tried this, did not fix my issue. My issue started when I went to lower the temp in my freezer. then it quit freezing all together, Ice maker quit working and now no water dispense either, I changed the filter still nothing.
I wish he would just say unplug the refrigerator . Save you 4 minutes of your life . I have people like this

It was better when they werent so smart. My sisters new dishwasher would not work. I replaced the mainboard. Still no work. My girlfriend was reading the instructions and she says " did you set the personality" to which i responded " you gotta be shitting me" yep, that was it.I didnt set the personality with the dip switched on the board to match the model number. I guess my sister bought an LG dishwasher that is LBGQT+.😮

I have had three Samsung refrigerators in the last six years and the freezers stopped freezing. My sister's Samsung stopped working this week also. If I have to buy another refrigerator it won't be a Samsung. Not again in life, they're like an Amber Heard, cute and dazzling but worthless over time.
What brands would you recommend instead? American made?
I brought my one this Jan and it stopped freezing today. I had a Samsung for 20 years before that so went for Samsung again. Having a look on here seem like it is a common problem

It comes with a fan & sensor. I have replaced 5 in the last year and a half
Ours did not reset and now the refrigerator part does not work, but it was working before unplugging the refrigerator. Guess now everything is kaput.

My fridge doesn't have something that says POWER FREEZE. Only says freezer, fridge, ice maker,water filter and Auto fill pitcher
I have a similar Samsung like this none on his video. The door catch doesn't lock in anymore. I have manually close the left side and nearly force fit itbinti the slot to stay in place. Now my food is thawing die to the freezer not freezing. I only have it for 2 years but you can bet I will never buy another samsung appliance.

Same issue with my fridge freezer combo, I purchased this same one when I bought my new home and not even 3 years old, I have had a tech come out already to "replace" a motherboard but even he said it will probably keep doing it. I had to buy another freezer chest off amazon for the garage, now we only keep 1 box of popsicles in the Samsung freezer. COMPLETE TRASH.

If you unplugged it and plugged it in and start working, press the power cool and power freeze buttons at the same time. This should reset it. Hopefully. I'm waiting on my now to see. These DYI videos are horrible.
After u reset it do you leave it alone after that and don't press anymore buttons because it says it has to be at 37 f...and when I reset it and put it to 37 f it goes back to 80 f...so do I reset it and just leave it alone after that?

Didn't work.
Samsung has a demo mode which you can accidentally engage with the buttons. Pressing the correct buttons will exit demo mode and the freezer will work again.
