Very nice tutorial Lukas. I may comment that smoothing fills in the SI joint and facet joints which does help making it printable without falling apart but might over-segment the real bony anatomy.

Especially regarding the quantitative effects of smoothing parameters of different softwares on the geometric accuracy of the segmentation result.
