I was really prepared to dislike that 'cut' knob - I've always been at odds with how much us modern metal folks chase tightness at the expense of so many other tonal aspects. But it's very musical! You still get an absolute TON of thump and character, even with it cranked. Some very surgical work on the frequencies there, somehow it manages to cut the mud without sacrificing girth. Question ! I couldn't stop thinking about this amp, lol Is the gain voicing similar to the Gehenna Preamp, or are they completely different ? Basically, I was wondering is the Gehenna a Prometheus in pedal form or do I need to wait some years before a Prometheus Preamp comes out, lol?
It’s honestly quite different - the Gehenna has insane EQ capabilities with its 6 bands and it’s voiced more modern and for the lack of a better word… “clanky”? For a preamp version of Prometheus I’d go a different path for sure 🙂
Wonder if theres an ideal set of speakers or cabinets that Lichtlaerm would recommend to bring out the best in this amp. Thats not to say that the amp didn't sound amazing in this video.
slaps the hood of our 4x12 loaded with our upcoming LCFR-150 speakers: "You won't believe this!" (sorry 😅) But for real: we do 2x12s and 4x12 with our specifically voiced speakers we designed in collaboration with Fane Acoustics - they're really unique regarding the voicing and THE perfect fit for the amp!
I’ll talk to Jon as soon as his personal Prometheus is sent out! Would be nice to give other people the opportunity to play with sounds from the amp across modern platforms 😊
@@SonicDriveStudio I love the video you did with the engl SE FE really curious to see if the Prometheus can stand along side it.I wish I could compare.I like Daniel and his pedals are stellar!
the prices differ quite a bit based on the configuration you choose: The one in the picture would be around 2799€ but it can be less or more based on the tube configuration - different tolex and stain colors are included in the price already!
Daniel, if there was a way to make the price point cheapest at 1200, I think you would have a winner in the amp market This amp is amazing fantastic job
With hand built in Europe and the quality of parts this is unfortunately out of the question right now… the transformers alone cost half of that 😬 you’d be shocked how small the margin on these will be even with the admittedly high price… if I find an option to get an affordable version made at some point I’d be all up for that, tho!
Absolutely fantastic sounding Amp, brilliant design, and cool look. Will it have USB, Bluetooth connectivity, a Plugin Model, Headphones Output, and what price range will the Amp cost? Regarding Pedal design features, the combination of a Multi-band EQ, Noise Gate, Tuner, and Boost would free up a lot of space on a Pedalboard. Really looking forward to the videos demoing the Amp sounds in detail. Thanks
Would never say anything is the best but it’s what we always wanted in an amplifier. Next is the next thing which will probably excite someone else - or not. Who knows? Life is like a box of chocolates I heard!
Wait... he drove there? I've always thought that you were based in the either the US or Canada for some reason. Where are you based? Austria or something?
I personally don't notice a big difference with power tubes at all. On the other hand, I have friends who notice more with power amp tubes but these are guys who play Plexis and Russian Bear amps. For me and my Revv Generator, Bogner 20th Shiva and Mesa Dual Rec (modified) I don't notice much difference at all.
That’s what I tried to explain: it depends on a lot of things! The amps you mentioned have very different power amp designs and very different amounts of negative feedback. There is a lot of amps where it really doesn’t matter but there’s amps where it can change things considerably - merely by adding the extended headroom of particular tubes to handle low-tuned guitars better. And I still agree that there’s other parts where you’d notice more of a change in any amp - but I like to see every single part of an amp as a puzzle piece that creates the whole picture and in some cases hopefully something that’s more than the sum of its parts 🙂
@@lichtlaermaudio Well said! Thanks for commenting. So much depends on thr amp. I like 6CA7 tubes but in my Archon and Mark V they didn't seem much different from my 6L6 tubes. For many of my amps, it's more about the circuit and preamp tubes. Your amp looks and sounds great. I'm glad I checked this out. Luke with my Revv and Bogner I thought I might get more of that EL34 vibe with those tubes but I ended up sticking with KT88s in my Shiva as the change wasn't large enough and I like the big, 3 dimensional vibe of the KT88s.
@@lichtlaermaudio that'd the hardest "no" in the history of "no" 😅 EDIT: alles, was du herstellst, ist absolut cool! Wuerde gerne manchmal mir ein Gehenna besorgen, aber die sind schwer hier zu finden.
It must be tough being in the amp business nowadays. There is so much stiff competition at the same time that digital platforms are getting so close in tone and feel. I can picture companies like this being all the rage at first but having difficulty growing their business. I'll bet a lot of startups like this have pretty poor business skills too (that's not a comment specifically about this one). I'm 64, and I've found that businesses that I call "passion businesses" are always like this. So many people have the passion and want to start a company that the market gets saturated. Wine, exotic cars, and cannabis are others. If you want to start a business that has legs, go with something no one wants to do, like porta potties, etc.
it most definitely is a passion business for me: I'm working a lot and I know I could make way more money in other fields with electronics or programming but that's not what I'm out for: I'm doing what I love and it pays for my bills. For me it's pretty much living the dream - even though I know quite well it's not forever :)

I had to reamp the performance which was recorded a couple days prior because we had a limited amount of time with the amp
Wonder if theres an ideal set of speakers or cabinets that Lichtlaerm would recommend to bring out the best in this amp.
Thats not to say that the amp didn't sound amazing in this video.
slaps the hood of our 4x12 loaded with our upcoming LCFR-150 speakers: "You won't believe this!" (sorry 😅)
But for real: we do 2x12s and 4x12 with our specifically voiced speakers we designed in collaboration with Fane Acoustics - they're really unique regarding the voicing and THE perfect fit for the amp!
Can you do a high gain profile of this amp and send it to the tonenet?
Might happen but only if Daniel likes the idea
Go for it! Will be a bit, tho as Jon will get his in January/February earliest! I do have some QC-captures of it that I’d be happy to share 🙂
@lichtlaermaudio unfortunately, I don't have the qc. I have the tonex though.
I’ll talk to Jon as soon as his personal Prometheus is sent out! Would be nice to give other people the opportunity to play with sounds from the amp across modern platforms 😊
I need one of these amps lol
I'm afraid you do mate...
nothing against that :)
Plz make a video of this amp plz
It's going to happen!
@@SonicDriveStudio I love the video you did with the engl SE FE really curious to see if the Prometheus can stand along side it.I wish I could compare.I like Daniel and his pedals are stellar!
Wow, amazing craftsmanship and tone! Love it. 🤘🏼
Thanks, man!
No mention of the price anywhere?
the prices differ quite a bit based on the configuration you choose: The one in the picture would be around 2799€ but it can be less or more based on the tube configuration - different tolex and stain colors are included in the price already!
Thank you for answering! @@lichtlaermaudio
Daniel, if there was a way to make the price point cheapest at 1200, I think you would have a winner in the amp market
This amp is amazing fantastic job
With hand built in Europe and the quality of parts this is unfortunately out of the question right now… the transformers alone cost half of that 😬 you’d be shocked how small the margin on these will be even with the admittedly high price… if I find an option to get an affordable version made at some point I’d be all up for that, tho!
LMFAO!! I thought you lived in Montreal Canada, That just threw me off ! Love it!
Thanks
Best amp ever? What’s next?
Would never say anything is the best but it’s what we always wanted in an amplifier. Next is the next thing which will probably excite someone else - or not. Who knows? Life is like a box of chocolates I heard!
Wait... he drove there? I've always thought that you were based in the either the US or Canada for some reason. Where are you based? Austria or something?
The Netherlands
7.5 hours to cross half of Europe and I could drive 7.5 hours and not leave my state....
That's Europe for ya ;)
@@SonicDriveStudio he drove basically the distance between Toronto and Montreal 😐
The Canadian landscape would be more interesting for sure, tho!
@@lichtlaermaudio that'd the hardest "no" in the history of "no" 😅 EDIT: alles, was du herstellst, ist absolut cool! Wuerde gerne manchmal mir ein Gehenna besorgen, aber die sind schwer hier zu finden.
7 hour drive and you're still in Texas...lol
how does it cost there's no price even on there website
7 hr drive from berlin.. why did i think you lived in canada lol.
As far as I'm aware Lichtlaerm Audio is doing pretty well luckily!
it most definitely is a passion business for me: I'm working a lot and I know I could make way more money in other fields with electronics or programming but that's not what I'm out for: I'm doing what I love and it pays for my bills. For me it's pretty much living the dream - even though I know quite well it's not forever :)
